That's smart. Buy a hundred dollar chi, realize it snags and takes FOREVER to heat up, then spend another $200+ to get a much better ghd. If your hair is not easy to manage or is super curly. SAVE THE MONEY and INVEST in a ghd, if you are looking for a very nice straightener yes I believe the investment is wise. They last a while. It's smart.

I agree, I just purchased one and there's nothing special about it, it didn't grip my hair that good, and it didn't get it bone straight. For 185 I expected it to do waaaaaay more than it did. The only thing this iron did better than the chi was that it didn't snag my hair. Please save your money and look for something else. I prob will keep it, but I'm like dawn I will NOT be buying another one.

I was going to buy a CHI and after watching a bunch of vis I saved up for the GHD and it is totally worth it, mine is the standard one and it turns on in 10 seconds ,my hair is thick,hard ,curly and super frizze black hair,im dominican and when I use the GHD with no product at all only heat protectant it looks like asian hair it almost looks fake on me , its SUPER straight,shinny smooth,soft,healthy looking. I never put more product on because I dont need it.
you might know this by now, but hsn isnt an approved ghd retailer. the ghd site has a website checker, & hsn isnt approved. they also stopped selling ghd flat irons, which is a good indication that they were selling fakes and ghd caught them. sorry, but u spent almost $300 on a fake that was made for nickels in china =/ u may not be pleased w/ the results since it wasnt authentic. if u want to give a fair review, give one on a real ghd flat iron. they really ARE worth it. theyre the best by far.

I think you guys in the states are getting ripped off!!! I looked at the sephora and beauty choice websites and the GHD's are in there $300's whereas in New Zealand and Australia GHD's are $350-$385...If you're familiar with the exchange price, technically you're paying just under double of what we pay...

Why don't you just sell the GHD and the stuff you don't want for like $150 and keep the stuff you do like (the bag it all came in)? That's what I would do.
I personally love my GHD but I understand what she's saying. I am a cosmetologist and can purchase one for a discounted price. If that weren't the case I probably wouldn't have bought it. I really recommend it not only for the product itself but they have great customer service as well. I have also tried a Rusk iron, it is not as good but it is extremely durable and costs a lot less.

That is odd. I emailed GHD customer service about the HSN deal because I was interested in it due to your first video.. and they told me it was not an authorized GHD retailer and to beware. So I ordered my GHD from Sephora yesterday.
Did you call the North American Office? I called them again and they did inform me HSN IS and authorized dealer and I registered my product with them over the phone and on the GHD website.
I think it depends on a persons hair type... There was a young woman at my church who has an iron that she paid $200 upward for and her hair looks like she is wearing a wig (In a good way)! ...Her hair is kniky like mine.
good review, but the GHD is WONDERFUL for my hiar. People there is no good and bad. If she says its bad for her that doesnt mean its an awful flat iron for you! It works for my hair which is wavey and kinda thick, so yeah and CHis are good but i like the GHD better, but i can see why it didnt work on her hair, it is really coarse and stuff, but its still GORGEOUS!! So it really only depends on your hair texture and type to find out if the GHD is the iron for you :D

anybody who has bad experiences with a ghd its because they got a fake. only fake ghds explode or fall apart- the fakes arent regulated for safety and are made with incredibly cheap materials. real ghds are amazing and really are worth the money.

You should have gotten the wide plated GHD, it works far better on thick or curly hair, which is probably why you didin't get the high expectations like you predicted. And another reason why GHD's are so expensive is because they last for ages, so as you said "i will never buy another one" you probably wouldn't have to because the quality is extremely good.

Thanks for the honest review! I have bushy/wavy hair that is so hard to take care of & when i straighten it with my GHD it gets vERY straight, silky straight. I do think it is expensive but i think it was money well invested!! Sometimes trying cheaper products is nto so good because you hair might become straight but still frizzy..so i thought id rather buy something that will do the job straight away!!
well some of the stuff may be fake but u just have to ask the seller if its a replica or an original...and if u dont trust the seller u can always match the model and number and see for yourself...:)
I appreciate the honest review of that iron. I personally use a Sedu flat iron. It's been said it's actually better than most other irons. As a another person commented I think you should do a review of the Sedu. I love the Sedu it's great!!
ITA! this product is so overrated! BTW, it ruined my fine curly hair. The temperature goes too high, i wish it has a termostate or something like that... I had to stop using it because it burned my ends.
I have used both the CHI and GHD. I think the GHD makes my hair more "china doll straight" and the CHI straightens my hair but gives me more volume.
I appreciate your review, its refreshing to see something that is so honest versus some of the other reviews out there that are over the top positive about everything! I'm going to try and do a side by side with the CHI and GHD soon.
Chi's don't work good either. You need to try a Sedu hair striaghtener! I promise you won't be disappointed. You def. need to do a product review on a Sedu hair straightener. P.S. Your curls do look good! :)

I think you guys in the states are getting ripped off!!! I looked at the sephora and beauty choice websites and the GHD's are in there $300's whereas in New Zealand and Australia GHD's are $350-$385...If you're familiar with the exchange price, technically you're paying just under double of what we pay...
They're great, but not that great!!!

I personally love my GHD but I understand what she's saying. I am a cosmetologist and can purchase one for a discounted price. If that weren't the case I probably wouldn't have bought it. I really recommend it not only for the product itself but they have great customer service as well. I have also tried a Rusk iron, it is not as good but it is extremely durable and costs a lot less.

I have to agree with you. My daughter has had three in the past two years - each one has broken down. They were genuine items. Not worth the money.

CHI is very good!
My sisters used a CHI straightner when they went to America and your hair gets poker super straight!
GHD vs CHI? They are both good as each other, They have the same poker straight results and nice beautiful curls.

HSN is an authorized GHD deal and I also registered and called GHD to verify so I know it's the real deal. Thanks, I know lots of people who got fakes..don't be fooled people, if you pay $100 you are being taken.

That is odd. I emailed GHD customer service about the HSN deal because I was interested in it due to your first video.. and they told me it was not an authorized GHD retailer and to beware. So I ordered my GHD from Sephora yesterday.

Did you call the North American Office? I called them again and they did inform me HSN IS and authorized dealer and I registered my product with them over the phone and on the GHD website.

I think it depends on a persons hair type... There was a young woman at my church who has an iron that she paid $200 upward for and her hair looks like she is wearing a wig (In a good way)! ...Her hair is kniky like mine.

good review, but the GHD is WONDERFUL for my hiar. People there is no good and bad. If she says its bad for her that doesnt mean its an awful flat iron for you! It works for my hair which is wavey and kinda thick, so yeah and CHis are good but i like the GHD better, but i can see why it didnt work on her hair, it is really coarse and stuff, but its still GORGEOUS!! So it really only depends on your hair texture and type to find out if the GHD is the iron for you :D

I'm still buying a GHD, seeing as you said it did a good job on your hair (most of the negativity from your review was how it was overpriced.) Btw, you have beautiful hair, I wished my natural curls looked decent. I'm thinking of buying the limited edition pure straightener, I hope it works!! You shouldn't really be apologizing to GHD lovers, I mean this is your own review! say what you want girl! And I agree with you about the producst, GHD hair products like the one you showed FAIL, DONT BUY!

If your hair is shoulder-length, I recommend you get the 2-inch wide plate Salon Styler, instead of the 1-inch Styler Dawn reviewed in this video. The GHD 2-inch Salon Styler works better from what I hear for hair that is shoulder-length or longer. The GHD 2-inch Salon Styler goes for US$235.00 plus shipping and handling on the GHD website.
Make sure you don't buy it from any other website besides the GHD website. Even BeautyChoice, Folica, and Amazon have sold counterfeit GHD products.

anybody who has bad experiences with a ghd its because they got a fake. only fake ghds explode or fall apart- the fakes arent regulated for safety and are made with incredibly cheap materials. real ghds are amazing and really are worth the money.

You should have gotten the wide plated GHD, it works far better on thick or curly hair, which is probably why you didin't get the high expectations like you predicted. And another reason why GHD's are so expensive is because they last for ages, so as you said "i will never buy another one" you probably wouldn't have to because the quality is extremely good.

I, too, have heard mixed reviews about ghd, but I have never been personally impressed either.
I am not crazy about the line at all.
However, that is only my opinion as well.

Thanks for the honest review! I have bushy/wavy hair that is so hard to take care of & when i straighten it with my GHD it gets vERY straight, silky straight. I do think it is expensive but i think it was money well invested!! Sometimes trying cheaper products is nto so good because you hair might become straight but still frizzy..so i thought id rather buy something that will do the job straight away!!

well some of the stuff may be fake but u just have to ask the seller if its a replica or an original...and if u dont trust the seller u can always match the model and number and see for yourself...:)

I appreciate the honest review of that iron. I personally use a Sedu flat iron. It's been said it's actually better than most other irons. As a another person commented I think you should do a review of the Sedu. I love the Sedu it's great!!

ITA! this product is so overrated! BTW, it ruined my fine curly hair. The temperature goes too high, i wish it has a termostate or something like that... I had to stop using it because it burned my ends.

I have used both the CHI and GHD. I think the GHD makes my hair more "china doll straight" and the CHI straightens my hair but gives me more volume.
I appreciate your review, its refreshing to see something that is so honest versus some of the other reviews out there that are over the top positive about everything! I'm going to try and do a side by side with the CHI and GHD soon.

Chi's don't work good either. You need to try a Sedu hair striaghtener! I promise you won't be disappointed. You def. need to do a product review on a Sedu hair straightener. P.S. Your curls do look good! :)
