The fish looks healthy, the tank is clean with no heater or filter, just a powerhead, so OBVIOUSLY it's just a tank for feeding since it's hard for them to chase down a fish in a huge tank with decorations and such.

that is not a gar. gars do not have that big of mouths andthey dont get THAT THAT big. and gars are also skinnier and barely move. they usually stay at the top. i askked the fish store person and she said that gars can grow up to be 2 and a half inches. she also said that gars can eat everything in the tank. and evry gar i have seen were silver and shiny

well the fish store person is really dumb. and just because you've seen doesn't mean they all look like what YOU think. I'm a fisherman I've caught a bunch of 3 foot gar. and you're right when you say they don't more that much, BUT that's because they are a predatory fish like a northern pike or musky and they only move a lot when they're going after food.

for those that are uninformed this is an alligator gar native to sub tropical regions of the united states it is at home in any kind of water but much prefers stagnent pools because it can breath air from the surface much like a lung fish and it is not a pike it is more closely related to a lungfish as it can breath through its gills or air from the surface

That's a gar fish, not an alligor fish. They used to grow past 7 and 8 ft in the south (known as alligator gar pike) but were mostly fished out. There are still big ones swimming around though, especially in deep lakes and rivers...
