Loved this game. There is an awesome version of this theme on an album by Daniel Tidwell...I forget what the album is called but it's worth checking out, there are actually a couple FF songs on it.

I've actually only played FFVI Advanced ^^and I like every part of it (from music, to story, characters, even graphic!!!),,, this music isn't bad either, but for me, FFVI Advanced's music is better for me (since I've played that only, and can't and even won't judge other musics and stories), and everyone does have his own oppinion bout FF games ^^ so don't attack me with questions like I don't know what I'm talking about and so on, tyvm ^^

Hmmmm....Weird. Read your responses...Cant believe you like XIII. If you've played every single FF like I have, XIII was a joke. After 6, it got stupid though 7 was an instant gem and beloved game, but 8's draw card system made me wanna shank my PS, and FFIX was an awesome ass game. This songs even based off...FF5, and FF6 I believe. <.< Sorry tomenaki, but Im an "original" final fantasy kind of guy. XIII's boss system and fights were just horrid, as was the characters/storyline. Music was good.

Don't get me wrong; 1-6 are classics in their own right, even if they have their own faults, but 7 had too many annoying characters in it, 8 was far too brooding, and I just plain gave up after playing 10 for a few hours and haven't looked back yet -.- FF9 just felt like a return to the origins of the series, when the cast wasn't made up almost entirely of hammy daytime soap-opera-star wannabies, the plot was decent, and the combat rocked >.<

I have not been happy with their latest lineup, and although I'm not holding my breath, I certainly hope that The Third Birthday is a huge step up from what they've been doing recently ( remakes aside ).

Still, my expectations at the moment are low, considering some of the screens they've shown. I'm interested, but not entirely sold on the game :\ I might pick it up when it comes out, if I have money - if not, then I'll see what some others say about it >.<

I knew it. I smelled it quite early but it's unmistakeable to notice a person who loves Final Fantasy 9.

And this proves it.

Nothing wrong with the game, it's quite the great underrated gem.

Just surprising to find it take such a high spot. Then again, this is indeed all opinion, and it's nevertheless still Final Fantasy goodness... just a curiously different style of final fantasy goodness.

You are incorrect. I don't love FF 9, in fact i think it is one of the worst in the series.

However, the battle tracks to this MADE the game. I have always, always, always loved the battle songs in the game far more than the game, or even the ost as a whole.

So this isn't here because of the game.

My favorite FF game? That would be a tie between FF VIII and FF XIII. As for battle tracks, well obviously this is the highest one for FF 9. XD

I'm not really sure, actually, i just love the game and all it has. The battle system is a huge draw for me, since i adore it, most of the characters i like (Lightning being the top one), and I just find myself wanting to play it no matter what. Plus... the music is amazing. ^_^

It's legitimately my favorite one, I mean lessee here...we have one of the most balanced combat systems in the entire series (4 might be more so), we have an entertaining villain (Kuja's no Kefka, but he's not bad either), we have one of the most introspective and deep characters (Vivi/Kuja, actually), probably THE best story in the series, and overall, with all the tracks from this game, I think it has some of the best music, too.

@dRevan64 Sorry to interrupt... Everyone has a specific taste for FF... I can't deny that FFIX was the best in many aspects... But I still prefer FFVIII because it reminds me the very first time I started playing a game in my beloved PSX... I played 8, 9, 7, 4, 5, 10, 12 and 6 (in that order XD) and I can't forget FFVIII. Perhaps "the worst" wasn't the correct word to say in any FF but meh... Just enjoy the good times and try to survive the new times ahead.

it's what he represented that made him a good villain; the fear of death, the mortality that we must all confront at the end of our lives. That paranoia is the complete opposite of what Zidane and his friends fight for; the continuation of the memories and melodies of life. I agree that Kuja, character-wise, was so-so, but I always loved what he symbolized.
