I like your style. You guys remind me of myself and my Brothers Company. Word of mouth=job security! We don't handnail, but that seems better as far as not missing 1by6 gaps and such. 2011/2012 winter is turning out to be a banner season for us! Hope you guys are getting some jobs done too. Peace from MI.
This is what I want to do, i'm slowly flunking college because it's just too complicated and waste of money. My dad and uncle do roofing . It looks fun and good exercise plus when your done you can enjoy a cold can of suds.
@dylan111291 I hear ya dude. I felt the same way. I finished my freshman year and dropped out and got a job with a roofing and siding contractor. Been doing it now for 3 years. yes its fun. yes it gets you in shape. But im always thinking what if i just stayed in school? trust me man, just finish. you got breaks and summer to do this shit and when youre done if its still what you want to do then have it man. Just giving ya my opinion.
@MikeDamoci Thanks man, I would attempt college again but i don't want to invest anymore money lol i'm only going to owe about 600 or so according to my grant. I might have a foot in the door at my dad's company though. I want to do roofing eventually i just need to see if any of my uncles friends would be willing to teach me the basics.
@dylan111291 Well there ya go. Next job just ask if they need an extra hand. probably start you out as a ground man like i did and eventually youll learn. its not exactly rocket science. Good luck with everything.
get some air guns, you are a dinosaur, why do all your guys look like dirtbags, are you still selling cocaine to your workers?you do an average job, your not the best i know a few mexicans that do a much better job
man u guys are fucking good i could never hand nail a roof i am new school only 24 years old and i started with a roofing gun so i dont think i could ever do hand nailing a roof good job guys keep up the good work and if u ever need another roofer drop me a line i can do about 10 to 12 squares a day
if there is no rotted decking there is no need to remove the decking unless of course it is 3/8th which is the worst decking anyone can install on a roof. I have to ask do you go inside the attics to determine if the decking is good or bad
@Rudakotaone GUNS ARE NOT AS GOOD AS HAND NAILING PLUS MY GUYS ONLY SHINGLE ABOUT 4 SQUARES A DAY EACH BECAUSE WE DO ALOT OF TEAROFFS AND AS FAR AS FALL GEAR WE HAVE IT ITS THE GROUND HA HA
Nice job. Very professional (except the large necklace, which would've made me a little hesitant without first knowing the quality of work). Where are you located?
@MarkFarrell LONG IALAND I HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 27 YEARS AFTER 20 YEARS MY WIFE HAD IT MADE FOR ME PS IAM IRISH MARRIED TO ITALIAN SO SHE ALSO GAVE ME A PINKY RING
these cats around here just rip off the old shingles and replace them or throw new shingles over the old ones... they tell me they can put a total of 2 shingles on a roof max... (have no idea about that)... But your way looks awesome!!
Good job guys beginning to end. I love how you redid everything the proper way. Not just throwing another layer over top and calling it a day. But doing it the best way. I thought at first the roof was warped and you were replacing it for that reason. I love this channel. I love home renovasions of any kind. : ) Barb
Wow I've never seen anybody replace the plywood, around here they just take a shovel and rip off the old shingles. If you find a real cheap contractor they just shingle over the old shingles, but that creates a lot of weight.
hey ref this roof had 2 layers on it and only thee eights plywood and when you strip 2 layers off and the wood is old it starts to pull apart when you pull all the nails out
Nice work! If you do work like this and keep your customers happy you'll never have to advertise. Word-of-mouth is all you need. Great vid!
p.s. Nail guns rock.
