  • Dude answer me pls what slot is this DDR,DDR2,DDR3 what slot is that ram ?

  • Sonnys is very good and they have amazing sauce :)

  • Many of you asked how to remove the hard drive. There is an extra step involved. So I made another instructional video for you.

  • This will void my warranty??

  • @Victoram12 Only if you break it...

  • I think he has use 2 screw drivers for laptop case and one for keyboard screws. Anybody tell me both screw drivers name? so then i can buy easily

  • @colonue Same size screwdriver for both. Phillips. Smaller size but not real small. Also, I created another instructional video on how to get to the hard drive. Just look at my YouTube page (or click on my name here).

  • @tigerfl Thanks dude...is there any risk in opening this laptop? i mean should i take care of any part while opening or closing this machine?

    Thanks in advance

  • Thank you very much! I can do it also! Hah, now first i need changing my system to be 64bit, then buying a ram....

  • thanq...

  • @oceantrolls73 Thanks for the awesome compliment.

  • can u chane the video card?

  • @Arrowcar1 no

  • thanks dude ... freckin awesome vid ....

  • @kemolite Thank you....

  • @tigerfl no probs, can you do a video for a sony vaio nr series and hp dv7 1245dx ? please?

  • Nice laptop

  • does it have 2 memory slots and all i do is adding a new memory or do i have to replace the original memory?? and what brand and model memory is compatible?? any laptop memory??

  • @gunrend Depends on what you bought but there is two slots. If it has a 2 gig stick in it now and you want to go to four, you only need to buy one more 2 gig stick. Or you can buy a 4 gig stick and take it to six gigs (2 plus the four you add). If you want 8 gigs, you have to remove the two gig stick and pop in two four gig sticks. Remember, you need a 64 bit o.s. in order to see any more then 3 gigs of ram. So if you put in four gigs (or even 8) and you have a 32bit os, u only see 3 or 3.5

  • Thanxx a lot! Did really help me!

  • @SuperBedford welcome

  • Thanks a lot for the assistance!! Video was super helpful!

  • @Darrells15or welcome

  • you help me too ! Thanks a lot !

  • Thanks, for your video, it was very easy and ilustrative. You help me so much.

  • @coolnopal your welcome

  • thanks, works great! Also note to people when inserting the ram, slide it in at about a 45 degree angle with a good amount of force, then rotatate it into a horizontal position

  • @willythehero It is not a speacial tool. It's only a small Phillips. It looks funny only because I am using a 1/4 inch drill bit adapter. Lol

  • @tigerfl Excellent! Thanks for your prompt reply. I already ordered the HP ProBook 4520s along with two 4 GB memory modules from Newegg. Again, great walkthrough on this process!

  • Hello, did you use a special tool, which appeared at 2:59 in this tutorial? If yes, what's it called so that I could get my own set of similar tools? Thanks.

  • @willythehero HP 4525s at newegg.com. BTW Fed-Ex put the 32 & 64 bit recovery disks in my hand this morning, 23 hours after I called HP for them at no cost.

  • @pauldls Yes, I see it there now; it has the AMD CPU. I'm aiming for the one with the Intel i5-480M CPU for $649.99. It's the same price at CompUSA; I may order it online & pick it up at the store, if they have it at the store. The 2 4GB-memory modules I could get at tigerdirect(dot)com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4287616&CatId=4153 for $48.60/ea.

  • I'm so glad this video exists! I'm seriously considering buying this laptop (model # XT990UT#ABA) and wanted to be sure that I would be able to properly upgrade its RAM. I've seen illustrations of how easily accessible the RAM is on several Toshiba laptops--the memory has its own bay. Now that I'm educated on the exact procedure, I wonder if I need a special screwdriver--like the one you used-- for it?

  • thanks from Colombia

  • Thx! Just picked one up for $406 and immediately called in for the Win 7 64 recovery and upgraded the RAM; your vid was a great help.

  • @pauldls Where did you find this laptop at that amazingly low price?! Online?

  • Thanks, very helpful

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • Great tutorial! Thanks for the help!

  • Thanks !!!

  • And this is why I'm not buying this laptop, thanks for the warning ermm... tutorial

  • Thaks its works perfect :)

  • anyone know how to disassemble 4320s?

  • Thank you for making my day easier.

  • thanks so much for this how-to. super easy, as long as you know what screws to remove.

  • this laptop have ati graphic ? or

  • thank u from Ukraine for this video, i just bought this laptop and coudnt find the start point)))

  • hey i have the same computer but its running a windows 32 bit....i was wondering if i had to update my processers (Intel i3) in order to bus a 64 bit Windows OS because i want to upgrade my RAM....Thanks!

  • @BD122295 Nope

  • Thanks a lot, it was great on those new machines!

  • Are you able to reset the CMOS by removing and putting the battery back once the case is off ?

  • Thank you *very* much, this has been very helpful for me.

  • Really nice video, I like to upgrade my graphics card. Is it possible...

    Thanks.

  • excellent...thank you sir!!!

  • Great tutorial! I added two 4GBs. When I checked out the properties in My Computer is says: Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB (2.92 GB usable). Does that mean I wasted money buying 8 GB of RAM or is there a way to utilize the max amount of RAM? Any negative effects of using max RAM? Thanks in advanced!

  • @freak557 Do you happen to have a 32 bit operating system installed? You probably do. a 32 bit operating system is not capable of reading more then 3.25GB of RAM. 64 bit is capable of reading way more.(the cap is unknown to me but i have a server running with a 64 bit operating system with 32 gig of ram)

Upgrade to a 64 but OS and ur fine! :) Do a clean install though ;)

  • @kjevo 'Upgrade to a 64 BIT OS and ur fine :)' Typo:<

  • @kjevo Thanks a lot! I appreciate your response. What bothers me is that the laptop comes with 2 GB of RAM and says upgradeable to 8GB of RAM. They should have said "upgradeable to 8GB of RAM (with upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit)." Nevertheless, thanks for your response.

  • @kjevo where, and how do I upgrade my 32 bit to 64 bit? Would love to have an awnser !

  • @freak557 as kjevo said, it would seem you have a 32bit os. He is correct that only a 64bit windows os will see 8 gigs. You can upgrade to a 64bit os but a clean install (backup all data, format hd) is better. good luck.

  • @tigerfl if you have a 64 bit laptop couldnt you just use a system repair disk as a clean install disk

  • @tigerfl does the 8 GB ram still work to its potential and just display the 2.2 usable or does it still work with 8 gb just not show it??

  • @freak557 This laptop is advertised at compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7148805&CatId=4939 as running Win 7 Professional 64-Bit. Where did you get one with a 32-bit OS installed?

  • @willythehero i bought it from tigerdirect but the exact same version is on compusa

  • @freak557 CompUSA and tigerdirect are partners, whatever you find on tigerdirect you'll find at compUSA.

  • Oh btw, for the 4720s if it came with a 4gb and I add another 4gb will it still work?

  • Very good tutorial. Thank you =)

  • hi, just bought it a week ago and i have 3 GB ram installed. So in this case I probably have 1 memory stick of 2gb + 1 stick of 1 GB. So in order to get 6 GB of RAM I have to buy 4 GB memory and replace 1 GB with the 4GB one. Now, this laptop does not suport dual memory chanell is that right?

    Thanks.

    Filip

  • I wanted to upgrade the RAM but a review of the computer mentioned that there is no user access to this. Your video answered my exact question in a clear manner. (I'm glad the review was wrong!) I am upgrading the RAM on two 4520s computers.

I would love to see how to replace the back cover of the lcd. My lovely teenage daughter had a friend over and someone managed to dent the cover to her laptop. (Grrrr.) The computer still works but I don't want to take a chance with a compromised cover.

  • Thank you very much!

    It's perfect! ;-)

  • Thank you very much!

    It's perfect! ;-)

  • Where is the hard drive? How to upgrade it?

  • @eremicd After you take the keyboard off, there are 2 or three screws along the top edge of the palm rest. Remove them, then slide the palm rest forward as you did with the keyboard and it will come off. Under this is the hard drive. Remove the 3 screws from the hard drive bracket. Use the tab on the hard drive to slide it away from the SATA connectors. Replace with a new hard drive in the same way.

    Hope this helps.

  • @eremicd it;s to the right of the touch pad.

  • @eremicd I created another instructional video on how to get to the hard drive. Just look at my YouTube page (or click on my name here).

  • @tigerfl

Great, thank you very much!! :-)

  • So, does this work the same with the ProBook4525S?

  • @level8 I beleive the 4525s only difference is AMD processor, so it should be the exact same procedures.

  • @level8 I believe the 4525s only difference is AMD processor, so it should be the exact same procedures.

  • Warranty should be fine as long as you don't break anything.

  • Does the warranty remain, if I do this?

  • I tried this and the speaker cover won't come off and I am afraid to force it off.

  • @Gman200108 If you are sure you removed all the screw under the battery, then it will come off.

  • @Gman200108 If you are sure you removed all the screw under the battery, then it will come off.

  • @tigerfl hi i have this laptop exactly the same has 4gb ram at the moment...what make should i buy to upgrade? cheers

  • Excellent Excellent Excellent!!

I can't thank you enough. It was easy to follow along and took me about 10 minutes.

  • Fantastic. Just bought this machine for a great price but needed to upgrade the RAM. Most reviewers said this was a turnoff and very hard to do but you showed me it was really not that difficult at all.

    Thank You!!

  • Perfect, Tank you man!

  • Excelente maestro....justo lo que buscaba,

  • thanks, i was checking how to do this before open mine. Great video!

  • Thanks for this video. Taking my 4720s up to 8gb of RAM as soon as my backup is complete.

  • Thank you for this video!

  • Where can i buy a memory That works on the 4520s?

  • @EnSatansSmurf A few days ago, I found a 4 GB module at compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7186247&CatId=4153 for about $50. Right now, it is unavailable.

  • @willythehero I have already upgraded with 4 GB ;)

  • @EnSatansSmurf Excellent!

  • just what i was looking for. thanks man.

  • @osama9330 No Problem!

  • whats the exact model of this one? the are many 4520s out theses witch one is this one?

  • @theos1983 I did not get the exact model number. My apologies.

  • Hi!

Is it possible to install hard drives wwhich are 12.5mm in height?

  • @stanosijek I am not sure, I have never deal with hard drives in metric.

  • I wish there were more helpful videos on Youtube like this one. Thank you very much.

  • @jvx32tv Thanks!!!

  • Thank you sir!

  • @InstaGib101 You are very welcome!

  • thanks for the information!

  • @KukuMinghan Anytime... Thanks for the comment...

  • Tnx for this, i would like to ask do i lose my garantie for doing this, becouse i have read on hp page how to upgrade ram. If they have full tutorial then i dont lose it yes or no? :)

    A+++ for video!

  • @AlenMusil

You should be fine. They expect users to be able to replace/upgrade ram. Only catch is, if you break it during the upgrade because you did it incorrectly, they may not cover it. Example, if you try to put the memory in backwards (I know it is hard to do but like I said, example), they may not cover the damage. But in general, no, memory replace/upgrade will not void warranty.

  • @greeleyco80634 Glad to help, thanks for your comment.
