It doesn't work on windows 7 - so if you bought a computer in the last year and half, like most of the planet, don't bother. And good luck trying to get in touch with Datel - their phone menu just tells you to press 3... and when you do it tells you that you made an invalid selection, and if you want an operator it just sends you to an answering machine. Write them an Email? Don't expect to hear back from them.

It's no wonder they're not licensed by MS, because they suck.

You have to use a compatible OS such as XP/VISTA 32 bit. It's possible that Compatibility might work, but we cannot say for sure.

Request DATEL to offer NEW drivers for WIndows 7 and 64 bit versions.

The video was recorded well over a year ago and they have since updated their web site.

You can used a program to record the audio played back through your PC speakers while you play the soundclip. Otherwise, you can use a program to auto detect the presence of a audio/video being played through a browser, such as "Orbit" and it's "Grab++" feature.

Windows includeds the "Sound Recoder" program, just set it to your souncards output.

As already explained in the review in the description, talking or a cappella singing comes in clear. If it's too loud, adjust the volume properly.

It's when there is music or other background noise that causes a distortion when played back over Xbox Live. It's NOT the Trash Talk's fault, but rather the low fidelity of sould quality through voice playback on Xbox 360.

Try resetting the device by erasing all the clips and starting over. If it is indeed defective contact DATEL or the retailer where you purchased the item.

Side Note: sometimes when these things start acting up, they will play OLD clips that have long since been erased and / or it won't start up. Sounds like you need to get it fixed or replaced.

Wired Controller it works fine, However I have to have the play and charge kit in a wireless one for it to work. My formats are WMA and sound crap, does anyone know which sound format is best.

Also If you have a wireless mic it goes onto another channel so it wont work, anyone know how to fix this, I dont mind buying a wired mic tho.

finally got mine. few problems:

1. The lights are very dim on the display, compared to when its in the USB.

2: The sound clips are VERY quiet, so much they arent loud enough to be heard by the mike.

3:I can get lights on the first two LEDs but nothing else.

4. The sound clips dont play.

5: Even if it is well connected you still get no results.

I warn people before buying it, some work and Im assming datel make many tacky dodgy versions of these, ill delete this if it decides to work

Never had any issues with the LEDs being dim. If the sound is low and the lights are dim when connected to the controller, then you might have some sort of loose / bad connection.

Try testing on an another controller. As well as check the two prongs on the Trash Talk that connect to the controller to make sure the metal strips are not bent/loose/missing.

Otherwise, you might either want to get a replacement or get a RMA from Datel to have the unit repaired/replaced directly.

You'll know it's plugged into the controller properly and working when a little light bulb lights up on the trash talk display for whatever soundbank is selected. Just as it does when connected to the PC via USB.

If the light is NOT on, then you need to adjust the connection to the controller.

As well as make sure you are playing back the soundback that has your clip(s).

2. XP Mode.

3. Emulation Mode.

Yes, you can hear the clips play through your headset.

It will play at the original quality you used when you put it on the Trash Talk. If you want to know what it sounds like for everyone else on Xbox Live, record a vocie message and then play it back.

i got the gameDR smack talk, and i like it a lot. the thing i like the most, other then being able to record stuff straight from youtube, is that you can plug it into your ipod, or whatever audio device, and play it. sure you have to adjust the volume to get a clear sound, but the audio is played through your headset as well, so it does'nt take too long. downside: it takes 3 AAA batteries. i got it for $.99 on ebay.

Some people do not know what they are talking about.

The Trash Talk software specifically lists .WAV, .MP3, and .WMA files as being accepted file formats.

Even if you had a clip in an unsupported audio format, you can easily convert audio clips using plenty of FREE generic audio/video software programs available on the web.

Since you didn't specify what OS you are using, we can only make assumptions.

The software/drivers are 32 bit and are compatible with XP and VISTA 32 bit. There is a link in the description for how to get the software/drivers to work in XP compatibility mode in VISTA.

We've never had any issues with 32 bit versions of XP or VISTA home edition, or VISTA premium edition

If you have a 64 bit OS, it's possible it might work with 32 emulation.

So try running it in the 32 bit emulation or hybrid modes. You should be able to find plenty of tutorials on the web regarding how to get 32 bit software/drivers to work on a 64 bit system.

Otherwise, try another computer that doesn't run on a 64 bit OS.

Singing comes out okay, but anything with instruments whether electronic or traditional, can come out distorted.

Tweaking the audio volume of the clips prior to putting them on the Trash Talk can make music sound a little bit better.

It's NOT because of the Trash Talk, but rather the Xbox Live voice quality.
