  • this was when I really got my taste for music, Perth was great ! band like The RaindogsThe Healers, Kryptonics etc @ the Shents and Old Melbourne, these bands from this period should re release there stuff on CD as I am sure people from back then and now would appreciate the availabilty to re live and listen to some geat music

  • 5 stars....saw em in 86 the love inn Brisbane..supporting johnnys...I think the drummers Mohawk was blonde that nite..big tatt on his arm..he blew away Billy p jnr from the johnnys...hallsworth can really sing...wish I was 17 again!

  • I had some Healers records destroyed in the Roley bushfires in Feb 2011

If anyone has Wildfire(gawd that's spooky) or Giants they want to pass on to a loving home then I'd swap you a Plexi for them...hehe!

  • One of my all time greats , i sought of remember a night at the leasure inn in Rocko when they played with Mutants of Desire What a gig ......... i think:)

  • Awesome... these guys rocked back in the day and I still love this song as much as I did 20+ years ago! Rock on Bamboos!

  • This brings back so many memories... Do you guys know where I could get a copy of this and/or With which to love? "With which to love" and "Virginia" awesome stuff. Was it ever put on to CD?

  • Excellent band. Used to go and see these guys at the Shents & Leederville Hotels in the 80's. I even have a signed copy of their independant split cassette they released with Mutants of Desire another great Perth Band, DJ was a real unit.

  • The Bamboos were a GLORIOUS BAND! Curtin Uni refectory Friday gigs will always be remembered with great fondness.

The Healers almost filled the gap.

Hey Craig where RU these days?

Running like a dog through the everglades no doubt!

  • I had a house mate in the early ninetees who had a casette called "rarer than rockinghorse shit" by this band. It had some GREAT tunes on it, anyone know where to find any of 'em?

  • @cl0udtop I have the album on vinyl and got it through GEMM Records on the internet.

I was lucky enough to support The Bamboos when they did a reunion tour a while ago in Bunbury. They were great!!!!

Outstation is another great band to track down along the same lines with Hallsworth singing.

  • Yes great song but with "which to love you" one of my favourites. Check out Tangles Star on Hidden Shoal Records. Criag Hallsworth a legend!

  • love it,

     donna

  • Aww it was really nice reading all the comments under here!

Thanks everyone. I agree, looking back and even at the time I thought they were both special bands.

    :)

    Shakir (Bamboos / Kryptonics)

  • I never took much notice of these guys until someone played me the single "With which to love you". It's still a huge favourite of mine and I'll never know why no-one seemed to notice it. I don't suppose anyone has a video of them playing it. I ain't too proud to beg.

  • I still have my vinyls of this remarkable outfit....there was a tune they did (named Downstairs in the Dark on a compilation cassette for a perth radio station called Rarer than Rocking Horse Shit...I lost it...anyone help out?

  • Downstairs in the dark there is a dead girl and she's the one for me! The track was called 'dead girl'.

  • Dead Girl! Thnx mate...don't know where I can nab a recording of this do you?

  • Dead Girl is now on YouTube.

  • I can help

  • Still just as good today as is was at the Wisbah more than 20 years ago!!!

  • Somebody should make a compilation CD of this great band (too few) releases for those without the vinyls.

  • i have the vinyle and i'm on the case

  • That song still rocks ! I remember sitting on the side of the road at the Norseman turnoff with Ivan when we hitched across Australia together, and seeing the Bamboos' red panelvan come flying around the corner with Shakir's quiff hanging out the window, on their way to tour the eastern states. The things you can't forget ...

  • I know all of them!

    The singer is my uncle!

    I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember hearing this song being covered by the Calhoons when they used to play every month for a while at the highway hotel in bunno in late 80's. (this is just to trip out anyone who knows what im talkin about)

  • fucken great stuff !!,
