Sorry, I hope you don't interpret that as racism, but the simple fact is that Europe and Asia produced far more in terms of high art, philosophy, technology and science, than Africa (or the pre-European Americas) ever did. We can safely say that without taking away from the achievements of Africans. I do agree with your general idea, though, that Africa ought to be doing much better than it is. But don't blame Europeans for all its woes.

I looked at your videos (thanks for offering), but a couple of folk songs are hardly going to stack up against a millennium of serious scholarship. On the one hand, we have an achievement of architecture like the Parthenon in Athens, and on the other we have a guy rapping about what he thinks his ancestors did. Or we have Plato's writings that have become the basis of western philosophy, versus .... another group singing. It doesn't stack up. No disrespect to you or to African culture.

Exactly. We will not know for some time whether or not Obama has effective policies. Things don't just magically get better overnight; they have a momentum of their own, and it takes time to reverse it.
That said, here's my opinion on Obama: leaps and bounds better than Bush in every aspect of his administration, but may have sold his country to foreign investors in the long term. Where exactly does that amount of bailout money come from? (Oh yeah, China).

A lot of people misunderstood the ACORN scandal. Just like many other voter registration organizations, they are required to report all new, registered voters (both real and fake) to the government. What the government found was that many of the newly registered voters were not qualified to vote. It's not that ACORN was corrupted. It merely registered new voters and happened to register a few fakes. That's why the government acted as a net- to sift through new voters and fakes.

What I like about this video is that it shows the Africa you don't see on TV, it's industry, people working etc.
Too often, the only images of Africa Western media offers us is that of the starving child, rural poverty, AIDs, conflict etc. While these are important issues that needs to be solved - the more images of the other side of Africa and its entrepreneurs we see the more investment will be directed to Africa

Obama has spent more money on secret service protection than any other candidate in the history of the U.S. presidency. He does not tell us anything in plain English. He speaks in puzzles, comments about the opponents and never once addresses the issues! What is he changing? His underwear? Social change takes years and his rhetoric will not do that. He is no Martin Luther King. He's more Farrikan than anyone I know.

sad isn't it? In this day and age, the man is still concerned about his well being? I've read a few threats made to his life over the internet. I'm sure if you were in his shoes you would do the same. I'm not concerned about how much he spent on secret service, i'm more concerned with what he'll bring to the country. the troops need to come home with dignity, the economy needs to bounce back. wouldn't it be great if we focus on that instead of petty stuff?

There is no mention here about the 5 nations he visited with Odinga in order to meet with opposition leaders (with ties to al Qaeda). This was in 2006 before he was even elected to the Senate. He talks about corruption, when his activities in Africa are as corrupt as it comes. He is about oil, and in 2006 represented himself as a US leader in order to make himself, Odinga, their Luo tribe, and pals, wealthy on oil $s. Everything he does needs to be screened through the light of this coverup.

I would like to see what would happen if Obama gave his speech to gangbangers. His father's jouney is no different than other hard working men who have struggled. Obama and his wife are not from lower income families. His mother was divorced, not single. His mother probably had child support and if not, what about the law requiring child support. Please! My question to Sen.Obama is whether Corruption is indeed the biggest problem in Africa or is it the Illegit Debt owed by all of Africa. this is the only way to end this modern day slavery & give a clean slate to Africa and thats the main goal Africans should be striving for, simply put "Africa unite," Africa needs medicines for its ailing and a welfare state for its jobless, we have the potential to have great economies and its no longer a Kenyan thing lets make it an African victory.

What a juxtaposition. An African father, European mother, raised in Hawaii, Senator, and a breath away from the President of the United States. Barack Obama has been on an unbelieveable journey.
