@jdp201eliz Not to mention...I don't know much about the Big Bopper, but Buddy and Ritchie were about as squeaky clean, nice, respectful guys as you could ask for...not a breath of scandal or drug use or any of the BS that took out a lot of other young singers and musicians. Very sad.

I was just thinking, as I watched this again, that their music started a music genre that has since kept young generations forever young!! I was just a toddler when they died, but I remember my parents reactions to rock-n-roll, only in their late 20s and early 30s, as one of shock and almost revulsion. These talented musicians gave us freedom to be young, feel young (and sexy), to sweat and jump and move (taboo for girls, esp.) long after youth turned into middle, then old age.

I got to be at the crash site 3 days after the 50th anniversary while passing through to DC. I'd recommend this side-trip to anyone, it's definitely worth the while. If you see a KZOK keychain inside the blue T-Bird toy at the site, I put it there!

Its so sad hearing this. Ricthies is so young. He died at age 17. It makes me cry hearing this. He said that he was scared of flying and getting in a plane crash because his best friend died in one. O poor ricky. He will be loved and missed. SOOOOOO SAD. He would have loved being in this world with his family but now it........he died. R.I.P. ricky :'(

Real tragedy. The Big Bopper was cool, and he seems like a nice guy... And Richie... He had tremendous talent, and was a great performer. His surviving works are Rock n Roll classics.

But Buddy Hollie... Just think of all the really great music never written, and the songs that would never be sung... It's just too sad.
