  • weird shit.

  • Celsius <3

  • quite ironic that fahrenheit was a german physicist and we got celsius (swedish)

    but both work ;)

  • None of them makes real sense. Everyone should use Kelvin, which 0 Point is an Absulute 0 point, theres nothing, and i really mean NOTHING under it, which would be in canon with metre and Litre, there is nothin less than 0 Litres or metres

  • Celsius where from Sweden. Sweden, Germany and the UK made a deal a long time ago.. The deal was that if Celsius won the vote in UK and Germany the UK would have sweden in the middle of their map and the UK and Germany would count temperature in celsius. And Sweden won.. And the UK and Germany still count in fahrenheit... lol.. :D

It may be wrong because I learned it in school... :p

  • @StormTheGamer it is wrong ... we never counted in fahrenheit... NEVER! :D

  • thumbs up for fahrenheit

  • i think the metric is better...but also i think the people should be able to vote for what they want to use.

  • Everyone should use Celsius. It's useful and intuitive, it's based on water and tells you a lot about weather. 0 degrees celsius means water freezing, means drive carefully. 100 degrees is boiling water, it's such a nice and round number. Fahrenheit based his scale on ammonia salt solution and his wife's armpit. I don't know, maybe she was a pretty wife.

  • in 20 years, we are just calculating in Kelvin

  • Thats the only thing I hate about USA, the stupid non-metric / completely random system for measurements.

    OMG think metric!

  • @marcosrubio92 im american and i agree. the metric system is so much easier. i think most people here know that tho. it would just be hard to switch everything over i guess.

  • And at -40° both are the same! :D

  • GO Kelvin screw the rest

  • @Uproar01 Kelvin is bascially the same as Celsius.

  • yeah he did screw us up :)

  • A "*****" Explanation! GREAT guys!!! I just learned this method the other day from another video, but I like your animated interplay, and the last little stroll with it, much better! =) This last bit explains how 50F {10C}, can possibly be HALF the number of degrees of 40F {5C}, in Celsius!~i thought that was so weird.. Skol! Cheers! & THANKS!

  • MAROON!!!!

  • wow u guys suck at uploading new videos, especially since this is has been uploaded before. :P

  • Hey,

I've got a question what Song is played in your Intro?

It would be nice if you produce new videos e.g. with skype or something else.

    Greetings from Germany

  • Alex ist Deutscher?? OMG sein Englisch ist perfekt...

  • You should do a video about german and american TV.

  • @grandomobil I think they did already. They talked about commercials and news media.

  • I measure in Kelvin scale so ha :D

  • I think this "formula" is pretty good, but how does it work with temperatures below 0 degree?

  • excellent another vid! Has Alex been embracing the USA culture with a bit of belly growth lately?

  • you should have explained what different temperatures stand for for example 0°C = frezzing water 100°C = boiling water

  • My Physics Professor used the same formula :-)

  • DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITING THIS IS. I'm President of my German club at my High School and they all want new Alex&Jim! And they're mad at ME becuase YOU TWO aren't uploading.

  • Yay a new vid.

  • wow...when you are going to upload the next OLD video???

    in 5 month?

  • @skiegiek

They do have lives, you know...

  • jjaaa die verrückten Ami müssen immer was anderes machen als wir !

  • is that a new video or is it just an old video uploaded again?

  • wenn ihr die sendung GERMANY vs. USA nichtmal 2 sprachig macht dann haut doch wenigstens untertitel darunter find ich ziemlich gemein von euch das es nur auf englisch ist !

  • Comment removed

  • @youcanthankmenow lern halt englisch ich versteh alles...

  • @youcanthankmenow finds gut.. (:

  • @youcanthankmenow

    lern englisch

  • I live in the us and I prefer celsius. When it comes to computer temps, everything is measured in C. When someone tells me F temps im like uhhh is that hot or ???

  • Do a video on Fasching!

  • You know, I don't mind people using Celsius or the metric system (inb4 a bunch of people start flaming me for being "assbackwards" or something like that) but I prefer Fahrenheit. I like going on temperatures that accustomed to around the 0 - 100 scale (and reverse) than 0 - 30.

It's no biggie. Just a preference.

  • "We say screw that." xD America..

  • lol fahrenheit makes no sense!

  • I measure temperature in Kelvin.

  • @20SeminoleUprising09 which i nothing but celsius plus 273

  • @20SeminoleUprising09 i dont it's pretty impractical

  • Thumbs up for Celsius!

  • Why wouldn't NYC be 90 degrees? It can get easily over 100 degrees there in the summers I can attest.

  • Das war sehr hilfreich. Vielen Dank an euch ihr seid echt klasse! :D

  • Yeaaaahhh!!! They´re back (with an old video ) !!! =)

  • ich musste gerade gestern von fahrenheit auf celsius umrechnen, was für ein zufall^^

  • I'm German but I kinda like Fahrenheit ^^ Simply because most temperature you use daily can be expressed in a comfortable 0-100° range, without the use of the minus sign or decimal points.

  • isn't this a old video ?

  • @TheOriginalSebacrush yeah it is, but i always like to see it again^^

  • @HolgerLovesMusic

    i knew it ...

i like all videos from alex and jim

    BUT

    i want new videos !

    ich wusste es !

Ich '' liebe '' alle videoos von alex und jim

    ABER

    Ich will neue videos !

  • @TheOriginalSebacrush Ja, ich doch auch :D

  • glad the UK use Clesius xD

  • wooohoooo

    wurde aber auch zeit! ^^

  • still nothing new .. to sad

  • yes!!! new ep!! awesome

  • hey alex, will there be any new videos from you guys in the future?

  • Dudes..just measure in °C ^^

Otherwise i´ll do it with Kelvin! :O

  • Thanks for the video - that actually makes a lot of sense. Fahrenheit is one of the few non-metric things that I have never been able to visualise easily. I was reading up about it the other day, and I can see the logic of the way the scale was developed, but Celsius in a modern environment seems to make more sense.

By the way, does the name 'Fahrenheit' have a specific meaning in German? 'Driving health' doesn't sound right.

  • @zebidee55

Fahrenheit has no other meaning in German

  • @zebidee55 well 'Fahrenheit' is not a real word in german, the word, that is the closest one, in my opinion, is 'fahren', which means 'to drive', the ending '-heit' is in german a signal for a noun, so you could translate it with 'the driving'. But it's really not a word in german :D

  • @zebidee55

Fahrenheit is just the family name of Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit :D

  • still now vid ..so you not doing new videos anymore??

  • Uiii kuhl kuhl ^^

    macht bitte mehr videos :DDD

    (daumhoch)

  • that episode sucked you didnt even mention why the celcius system is like it is. you go from 0 °C where water freezes to 100 °C where water boils

  • endlich =D

das erste video von euch, seitdem ich den channel aboniiert habe... Moechte bitte mehr davon

(sehs nicht ein mich hier in den commis mit meinem krueppligen englisch zum honk zu machen -g- )

  • Yeeeeah.. Alex and Jim are back :)

  • Yay new video ! =)

  • yay new vid, didn't know you would be making any more =)

btw i think C is better because it uses the boil and freeze points ot water at 1 atm pressure, and water is everywhere soo... =)

  • thanks very much

  • -40° C = -40° F

    0.o

  • Celsius is better than fahrenheit

  • wuhu einer der ersten kommis und auch noch der erste in deutsch xd

  • Yeah, but Celsius is the more logical way of measuring temperature

  • @EverySixt that's why the better and smarter countries switched :P

  • @adafunk Yeah smarter countries...

The US doesn't use the metric system or Celsius, and yet we have the best space program and the best universities in science and technology...

  • @MercenarySlick enriched by german scientists. ;)

  • @adafunk You know what other space programs were enriched by German scientists?

ALL OF THEM. The Soviet Union had hundreds of German scientists working for them. The current European Space Agency includes Germany. And yet the US space program is still the best. We're so far ahead of everyone it's kind of ridiculous. Europe, and by extension Germany individually, have never even put a human into space by themselves. The only Europeans to go into space were put there by Americans!

  • @MercenarySlick cause that was actually real? Don't get me wrong I love America, but all americans seem to think their country is so god damn perfect, when reality, it's not! sure it has good points, like all countries, but you turned my comment (that was btw light humour) into a "god bless america" argument. Seriously, was it needed?

  • @adafunk It was needed. You say Americans are overly patriotic, yet people like you are overly anti-American. You're so accustomed to hearing the US criticized with the most illogical and hypocritical arguments, that you think it's just status quo. You think you should be able to insult the US without any confrontation. When Americans defend the US, you get angry and have to write it off as nationalism. Basically, Americans are the only people that can't defend themselves in your eyes.

  • @MercenarySlick nice presumptions. Where did you get them from, TV? have you ever actually been to another country? it didn't really need to be defended in the first place, everyone else (outside of america) saw my comment as a light hearted joke. The reason that I'm getting "anti-american" is because you're basically slating other countries, kissing USA's arse and shouting about the greatness of your country. in other circumstances it wouldn't bother me, but in this case, it wasn't needed.

  • @adafunk History lesson: While you say that the US space program was "enriched" by German scientists (this is true, nobody disputes that), you probably didn't know that German rocketry was founded by stealing technology from the US. Before the Nazis ever even thought about building rockets, Robert Goddard, an American, had already invented the first liquid-fueled rocket. Wernher Von Braun based his designs on Goddard's work.

You can't rob the US of credit for NASA, sorry.

  • @MercenarySlick but lets be honest, the majority of Americans are all descendants of English and Germans, so on the whole, we're all one. :)

  • @adafunk Ah... that argument. I've heard that a lot.

I like it how Europeans will bash the US as basically being sub-human. When you want to insult Americans, you differentiate yourselves from us. But when you want to take credit for American accomplishments, you say Americans are descended from Brits and Germans. You try to get the best of both worlds. You criticize America for human faults that exist everywhere, but you rob the US of credit by saying we descended from you...

  • @MercenarySlick I wasn't really trying to decredit "americans" I was trying to neutralize the argument. You started bitching about how americas so perfect from my comment, which was a light hearted joke. This is the thing about people, never quite understand the concept of a "joke". Lighten up pal.

  • @MercenarySlick and it's a shame you couldn't use the"better" universities to educate better presidents *cough*geroge bush *cough*

  • @adafunk Shame you couldn't use your criticism of our former president's intelligence to reflect on your own lack of intelligence and your own stupid leaders.

If our president was dumb, yet your Prime Minister was his lapdog... what does that tell you about your own country? If we're retards, you're the retarded slaves of other retards. So, we still have the higher ground. Your country is universally regarded as our bitch. If our president was a monkey, you'd still take orders from us.

  • @MercenarySlick and at what point did i start arse licking my country? I'm not a yank, we don't give a shit, we all think tony blair's a tosser and most of us don't give a shit. I'm trying to say that your country is FARRR from perfect, however much you might think it is.

  • @EverySixt 0 Fahrenheit is freezing point, it goes up from there.

  • @FocusDefective 0° Fahrenheit = -20° Celsius; 0° Celsius (freezing point) = 32° Fahrenheit

  • btw, if you guys are running out of ideas maby you should ask us, your viewers...I would suggest the next one on "Germany vs. USA - schools"
