i don't think i could ever forget katrina...every member of my family lost their homes. it's sad that i grew up in waveland and have trouble remembering what it looked like before. i have to refresh my memory because i don't want to forget.
I know, it was difficult to upload and I don't know what happened with the song. It is supposed to be remember when. I would take it down but youtube wouldn't let me post a duplicate and it is important for people to see the before and after - and remember.
I remember spending my summers at my uncles beach house in Waveland, I remember after Betsy the pier was gone then they pumped in the beach. Then Camile left the house in ruins but he rebuilt. It was there and looking great until Katrina washed it away forever. It's just a memory now. So many memories.
I go to Waveland twice a year with a group to help rebuild. I have seen a lot of these places in the "after" state, but never in the "before" state. This is unbelievable.
I grew up two hours from Waveland in Louisiana..and I cried when I drove on Highway 90 four months after Katrina. It was an unbelievable sight, that tv can do no justice, you have to see it with your own eyes. I've been haunted ever since.
I'd never been before Katrina, but I saw the aftermath - and that haunts ME still. You are quite right - you had to be there. It wasn't just the sight, the smell was unforgettable too. God Bless the survivors, we must remember..
Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute...I couldn't stop crying while watching it. I'm a Mississippian and spent many of my summers at these places. God Bless the Coast!
i wnt there and helped clean up this past summer i didnt want to leave there were some many other ppl we couldve helped but my 2 friends are down there for 3 months we were in waveland too
I remember too. I lived a few happy years in Bay St. Louis and remeber the way it looked....before. I haven't had the opportunity to return after the tragedy. Watching this tears at my heart. To see an area I loved so much....just gone. Thanks to the work and the video. My God bless all there.
Unfortunately, I never saw the before. But this documentary from Hayward Guenard tells the story beautifully. I am sad for you all. I, like countless other americans working for the cause, want to see you all home again.
