@gmonka04 its up to you on your workflow but im a fcp editor so I like to do my effects in ae and then mix it with my clips in after effects so i have more control on the final edit
So if its a video clip thats all you have to do and it works throughout the video even if the person moves around his hands or head? or does that only apply to still images
@GudLuckCharmz wish it was that simple but good lighting is important....making the chroma a balanced colour without shadows will produce the best results.
also adding depth between the person and background is a huge help. cheers
so i have a question i have have Adobe Premiere® Pro CS5.5 and Adobe After Effects® CS5.5 right i just don t have a green screen so heres my question once i buy a green screen sheet do i have to install anything with the green screen sheet or would Adobe After Effects® CS5.5 just kno i have the green screen sheet with out instaillin anything and i can goo straight to editin the video i shot with the green screen sheet once i have the sheet im all set it just comes down to editin on Adobe After E
@DBelleMusic ok here's what you need to know first. its not that After effects detects a "green screen", it's that it detects a certain type of color. So to answer your question: no, you do not have to install anything. You can go straight to editing. Just do what he does in the video and it'll work. hope this helped :)
GREAT VIDEO YOU REALLY SLOWED DOWN THE TEACHING THAT IS GREAT YOU SHOWED EVERY LITTLE STEP IN DETAIL KEEP IT UP YOU ARE NOT WASTING YOUR TIME MORE ON AFTER EFFECTS WOULD BE GREAT
ARggg.. I do exactly what you do but when i select the "screen colour" with the little tool it doesnt just wipe out the colour like it does yours.... It just does nothing.
Just wondering if you can output with alpha channel into a flash file so that I can place video into a ppt presentation and still maintain the transparency.
Hello, I have download Keylight but I after effect can't open it ( I have CS5) but I have see video and the man have my version and he using Keylight. Please Help Me !
(Sorry for My English, I'm French)
Good bye ! Or Have you a another plugin for Chroma Keying ?
Everything is working then when I go to Select Colour with the eyedropper, it removes the green but the Background turns ALL Black instead of the Transparent Checkerboard that you have. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
Thanks for the tutorial man, some of the others i've followed so far didn't teach me anything as useful as this, the Screen Matte option from the drop down was very helpful :)
@TheXdarkstardustX make sure you dont double click on the clip otherwise it will take you to a separate window which is that clips individual preferences....I dont know if this is the exact solution for you...if not then can you go into more detail about the problem......thanks
I need a cloud superimposed on a green screen background or a video of clouds on a green screen back ground to create a very special effect I hope you can help Al

great tutorial for keying in After Effects. As a beginner I thought your tutorial was easy to learn from and interesting. As a result i have subscribed. Good work!!
I got rid of the background (greenscreen) color of an animation that I've made using keylight 1.2. Everything looks great in After Effects, but I want to export it as a Tiff image sequence and then I start the render the green background comes back into my composition! Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here and what option I should change to get the TIFF sequence right?
@JoshJohnKyleHaken Hi, every shot can e different, depending on how well you have lit the chroma. If its quite dark and dingy I suggest that it may need some colour correction. Up ing the game and the luminance of the green may help. But beware the more you do this the more quality you could lose. Also make sure that intermediate result is selected when taking it through the final render. Let me know if this helps. If not upload the file so I can have a look at it. Cheers and good luck
@kruimels have you pressed that little option that i show you in the video where it changes it from black to transparent? And when you save it with adobe whether it is after effects or photoshop, its the alpha channel that you must specify. If your working with photos in photoshop and you have removed the backdrop then all you have to do is save it as a png. And you can use that image over any backdrop.
@ZoldierrZzz I bought one on ebay for £40 which is probably $60.....its just green cloth really (musilin). Its just making sure you light it up so it has that distinct pigment of green. You can also do this with Blue chroma. This video however is on a painted backdrop in a studio.

how can i save the file what i created.
In adobe photopaint, i can save only the selected, like a person cutted out, but how do i save it in adobe after effects and what kind of format?
