I luv this song and while, but when my guitar teacher said one of them was helping him out with his classes and they are from Vista, California (my current hometown) I was really happy. Way to go!!
his solo stuff is good but the most amazing stuff he does is with the Punch Brothers. they used to be how to grow a band and on itunes it says the artist is chris thile for the album how to grow a woman from the ground, even though the band has a name. the 4 movement suite is absolutely incredible. that is a supergroup if ive ever seen one.
I don´t think it´s a metaphora. I think it´s a sad story, told from a really intresting, unusual point of view. If anything, I believe that the lighthouse symbolizes contancy, it´s always there and lives longer than human, to watch muman history pass and tell about it.
But that´s just my interpretation, I´d love to hear something else suitable, too.
okay the lighthouse is singing and him and his master are like a team his master loves this women and her ship wrecks and then he kills himself so they could be together in heaven
These guys deserve so much more than they have been dealt. All their music is so inspired and they have so much talent. I also like 'when you come back down' but this is definately my fave!
The location in Nubble lighthouse in York, Maine.... They are also walking the streets of Portsmouth, NH in this video too! Wish I had known about the group when this video was made, would've been fun to be there when they did the shoot.. Only live 20 minutes from both locations!
I never knew the words to this song. They are so gloriously sad. I remember the first time I heard this song and saw this video. I was impressed at the young, modern but dignified mix of bluegrass and country. I remember thinking "...I hope there's going to be more like this".
this song is amazing. its so sad but man i love it. Normally i don't even like this kind of music but my friend showed me this song and wow im in love... haha im on my brothers profile thingy so don't think hes weird or anything
god, im inlove with this son. it is so beautiful....but really sad. first song i heard from nickel creek, and man im so happy i found them! wish they hadnt broken up though. :(

i guess i kind of get where you're coming from but come on, music is universal. that's what's so great about it. just saw you have les mcCanns compared to what in your faves and that's always been one of my favourite songs ever. i'm 'white' and a thought like yours never crossed my mind. ;)
Yea i dont see things that way...but i grow up in a area where alot of my friends be it black or white just did not understand my music choices...lol....and its sad cus as much as i love my friends they just wont hear me out ...i try but its all about r and and hip hop with them.....i dont have other close friends that enjoy alot of the music just very few...
what kind of poor comment is that? instead of wasting everyone's time trying to provoke anger, go get a real life and make yourself worth something. these people are way above your status.
somehow the first song i ever hear from any band happens to be the one i like most from them and guess what? i love this one the most from them! it's gorgeous
This was the first song i ever heard of this band many many moons ago an i loved it! Years and years have gone past an you know what? I still love it! Ive got all their albums. If you get chance you should buy them... You wouldn't be disappointed i promise you. Great band :D
I went to my music class in school and we were listing to different kinds of music. My teacher played this so we could study it. I went home that day to listen to it... but my stupid new neighbors were putting in their phone line and they cut my phone line while they did it. Lol I <3 this song! Sorry if the story was boring. xP
when i was in high school, my vocational teacher made each of us make a powerpoint and teach a chapter in the book. she always played songs that had to do with the lessons. I had to do a presentation on suicide, and I played this song before my presentation...my brother made me a cd of songs and I picked this one...it worked perfectly.
i remeber coming home when i was young and turn on the tv channel GMT and kinda fall asleep and i swear this song came on and i would fall alseep, it was/is such a soothing song.

You wouldn't listen to "classic" country music and still call today's country music "country music." Same think here, in my opinion. They're still bluegrass, but more modernized
If you think they're not bluegrass just because you don't usually like bluegrass and you like them, you need to get into a giant catapult and launch yourself into the sun.
Then what are they? Just wondering, I mean, with the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, double bass, etc.... Is it not possible that they could be classified as "modern bluegrass" (but yet bluegrass...)?
Perhaps? With the instruments I guess you could draw similarities, but they don't sound like any bluegrass I've ever heard. Sure, in a few songs you can hear the bluegrass influence, but they are still not anything that I'd think of as bluegrass.
Well, like I said, no one could call today's country music "country music" if they compared it to country music from back in the Waylon/Merle era. Same thing here, it's just a modern spin on an older genre.
i was raised listening to this song. one of the very first defined memories is laying in nap time in preschool listening to this song. I still cry every time i listen to it.
Haha. The scenery is nice; it's those long languid looks into the camera that are so cheesy and overdone that I think it actually detracts from the beauty of it, you know?
Since we're discussing grammatical errors 'your' should really be 'You're' since what you're trying to say is 'you are' not 'your' as in 'you own something. I suppose you knew that though didn't you? By the way, capital letters usually go at the start of sentences.
