  • DIS IS SHIT YGM

  • they made to a big time TV special, id say thats a great beginning and respect. so stop thinking a womens group had no chance!! heres your proof, how well they had gone!! great band

  • I remember this group well, one of my favorites I still have the 45...

  • I had completely forgotten about Fanny. They weren't a "chicks put together for the novelty" act; they were for real, and deserved more acclaim. Think about how much shit they took in the late 60s early 70s for being female rockers. Good on you, Fanny!

  • hey loved these back in the day! original and best.

  • Great Girl Group from the Early 70's

    Thank you

  • I remember seeing this broadcast live sitt'in in the livingroom with my sister and brother...*sigh* simpler times...

  • Why did I not know about them!? Better late than never I suppose. :)

  • total rubbish

  • @bumbaclat777 - arsewipe

  • Interesting to see them getting all that vocal amplification without any microphones!

  • awesome band

  • At last the best female rock band in the world no one can beat them any more fans get in touch with NEADZY@HOTMAIL.CO.UK

  • WE LUV JUNE !

  • San Francisco--60's-70's--great music!!!!! Yeah for the sistas.

  • rocked my life yrs gone past

  • Wow this is awesome!

  • rock out June and Jean

    LOve u

    JoeyMo

  • One of the first female rock bands..

  • @gale31 One of the first?!? You really don't think.

  • the original female rock band! great stuff

  • I saw them in Concert the original and Patti Quatro once.

  • Thanks so much for posting!

  • "Charity Ball" -- which i consider Fanny's finest record -- was also their first chart hit, reaching #40 over a ten-week run in the fall of 1970. After that came "Ain't That Peculiar" (#85 over a three-week run in the spring of 1972), "I've Had It" (#79 over an 7-week run in the summer of 1974) and finally "Butter Boy" (#29 over an 11-week run in early 1975). The first two hits were on the Reprise label; the second two on Casablanca.

  • They were featured in a Guitar magazine article that pointed them out to me, a history of women guitarists that included Meredith Brooks AKA Bitch

  • Fabulous! That bass groove is WILD! And the piano player's haircut is coming back in.....!

  • I remember them WELL! They paved the way for 'Girl' Rock Bands.....AND KICKED BUTT for the time!

  • a forgotten classic

  • to smartkart--you unlightened people practice way too much bigotry, ignorance, and a touch of meanness. Go away with your stupid comments.

  • i love these womyn !!!!!!RIGHT ON SISTAHS !

  • What a shame that they only had one hit right before breaking up: Butter Boy.

  • Fanny was a fantastic endeavour! These ladies deserved more recognitiion and airplay- awesome songs and wonderful vocals! Loved them then, and listen to my old albums constantly, with smiles and great memories!

  • I see Fanny live. 1968. Showed up to the Love-in at Griffith park....yes, they actually called it that. I went with a few friends to see the Jefferson Airplane who were slated to perform. Anyway Fanny open and I was simply amazed. Mainly because this was pre-Runaways, Joan Jett, Bangles etc. An all-girl band playing their own instruments was unheard of then. They played a competent set and looked fairly attractive as I recall. Then Grace Slick came out in a Girl Scout uniform 2 sizes too small..

  • That's not true, there were other female bands before them. Come on, dude. You're just not aware of it.

  • LOL, that is an awesome story!

  • @dtripoli1 I missed it...LUCKY YOU!!!!!!!!!!

  • June and Jean Millington - Fil-Am talents to be truly proud of.

    Nicole Scherzinger, take notes.....

  • You Filipinos practice way too much jingoism.

  • pretty funny name for an all girl band hehe

  • now your going to miss the fantastic fanny, haha!!

  • I bought their album "Charity Ball" in around 1970. I'm going to dig it out and play it - it has some wonderful songs on it.

  • I loved this tune when I was a rock-n-roll teenager. these women really could play too. George Harrison gave them their name (dirty old man) and David Bowie was a big fan.

  • Harrison did not give them their name. According to the book She's A Rebel, June Millington says they chose it.

  • i absolutely love this video/song!!!!

It's so inspiring! It makes me want to form an all-girl band, aswell.

    I love this group- amazing!

  • Does anyone know how many albumns they released ? ( and the titles)

  • I believe there was five albums, & someone should correct me if any of this is wrong- S/T, Charity Ball, Fanny Hill, Mother's Pride, & Rock 'n' Roll Survivors. It is a DAMN SHAME that none of these have ever been released on CD, other than a Rhino expensive boxed set!!!

  • I had their album "Mother's Pride". I thought they were the greatest. I think they were the first girl rockers around back then besides Heart.

  • One of the original all girl female bands. June and Jean Millington are great singers!

  • Their bus broke down in Colorado Springs in the early 70s and this kid I hung around with, his dad did the repair on it and they gave him a bunch of their albums. That was the first time I heard them. I liked their style and they were HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Underrated band. Nice to see 'em again!

  • I do however LOVE Fanny! I met Alice de Buhr in Las Vegas a few years ago and she is a confirmed lesbian! The Rhino "Fanny Pack" is awesome.

  • OMG!

hubo una banda con mi nombre xDD!

  • Great to see them here! I loved "knock on my door" one of the earliest female bands, along with Birtha

  • WOW!!!!

This is actually the very first time I've ever seen them perform! I have one of their records which wasn't even released commercially - some GREAT songs: "Come and hold me", "Send a message to the Capt.", "Shade me", conversation with a cop", and more....GREAT band!! If you have more songs please put them up - thanks.

  • loved it i have an album of theirs do u remember deadly nightshade

  • I thought I was the only other person around who's heard of them

  • Hey TR1 guy thanks a ton that brought back sweet sweet memories. What a band.

  • Thanks-I still have all my Fanny Records ( wish I could afford that Rare cd set that I have seen on E-bay)---those ladies could Rock1

  • I got see them play live in a club in Dallas in 1973.

    They were awesome.

  • I think that's Suzi Quatro's sister on drums.

  • That's Alice de Buhr on drums in this clip. Suzi's sister played guitar on their final album release.

  • no suzi's sister patti played bass with them when they were with casablanca records

  • This should have been a big hit.

The keyboard player, Nickey, was a real talent- she drives the whole thing along; but the whole band were great.

They used to play naked in the studio, according to Todd Rundgren!

  • I remember this song! Fanny was AWESOME. Sure wish they'd re-release the song Butter Boy that was a cool song, too!

  • I love these sistahs !!!where are they now !!

  • I love this !!!1971 FOR-IVER !!!!And Phyllis Diller 2!!!!!YEAHH

  • amazing to see them after all this time. Teriffic and apart from the set and cloths not dated much at all ! Thanx

  • Thanks for this! I'm extremely envious of anyone who saw Fanny LIVE then! I was (and still am) a devotee, and so glad to see this on YouTube! Guys and gals, go visit FANNYROCKS DOT COM = official website by the original band members! See the fantastic music video of 'BLIND ALLEY' in the Gallery page! (And so much more!) I wish I could see their performance of 'Special Care' - another great rocker! Re the breakup, June had had enough of Fanny - the band was really lost at the end. So, so sad!

  • EXCELLENT RHYTHM!

  • I remember meeting them at Whiskeys on Sunset Bl. in the '70's. They were great! 4 Rockin' girls.....

  • Fanny great band and some really talanted ladies.FANNY ROCKS.

  • They should have been superstars!!!

  • Special care just got taken down this weekend what a pissoff. I watched it daily, great tune.

  • That video was from a copyrighted DVD being currently sold on Amazon, so I can understand why they asked it to be taken down. If they release Sonny & Cher on DVD you can bet this will be removed too.

  • Damn their livers and lights! Grrr. How about extracting the audio from that clip and putting it up on GoCR? It's one of the few extant live recordings that showed how hard we *really* rocked when we did thing our way...

  • Hey Troubadored! Its nice to see you posting on this clip (you guys freakin' ROCKED btw- go Fanny!!:)

  • I love Fanny. Anyone have "Special Care" that they can put up here?? Thanks!

  • Fanny KICKS ASS.

  • Does anybody out there have a "Butter Boy" video clip, circa 1975(ish) floating around? If so, how about sharing it with us....Great song....Greater memories!!

  • great to see them again....saw them live in wolverhampton early 70s ..great band

  • Ha ha, so glad to finally see this again! I didn't even know they did Sonny & Cher until TVLand reran the shows a few years back and I saw this bit!

  • I saw Fanny play at General Motors Institute in Flint, MI .... I think it was 1974. Great band !!

  • I am still having a HEART ATTACK!!!

OMG I have forgot about this...YEARS AGO!!

D*MN I owe you a MILLION dollars for showing this!!

    GOOSE BUMPS!!!!!

  • Oh my god I don't believe I found this. One of the best concerts I ever went to was Fanny about 1970. It was a great show. Unfortunately they have faded from memory for most people. But before Heart and the GoGos and the Bangels there was Fanny. Hell they even backed up Barbara Strisand(Stony End) as I recall. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • damn good band. one of the first all female rock bands. they wrote very good songs. another good all girl band from the 70's - Isis, from New York. Also wrote and played everything well.

  • The Sonny & Cher Show wasn`t shown on UK TV.Good to see it now.Jean nearly jumping out of her skin and that wonderful smile from June at the end.

  • One of the best bands to come out of the 70's!!! Too bad the world was too slow at the time to pick up on them!!!!MORE!!!!PLEEEEZ!!!

  • One of my Fav Bands

    Thanks for Posting it

  • I honestly think that Fanny would have made it big eventually had they not broke up in '75. Remember their song Butter Boy started climbing up the charts right after they broke up, so I think it was just a matter of time for them if they had stayed together.

  • starqz,ITA! Of course, June Millington and Alice de Buhr were not in that final incarnation of Fanny, but,IIRC, June and Jean did reform the band and tour behind the song "Butter Boy"--and were inches away from signing a deal, but it didn't happen--breaks my heart to think about it.

BTW, all of you who saw them peform live are very lucky!

  • Ha! I always loved this band! I saw them open for Chicago in 73, and they totally blew the main band away. I was there with 3 friends and our dates, and all of us guys were sitting there with our jaws gaping, and our dates wondering what was the big deal about a four-girl rock band with hair down to their asses.

  • TR1Guy, thanks. I love Fanny. They should've made it and should have been a staple now on classic rock radio. Those ladies really cooked--too bad that Sonny and Cher just didn't let them cut loose and play live.

  • Hey, I kinda like them. Why didn't thy make it? It was a great 70's sound. The music buying public is so strange...even stranger now.

  • I don't anyone associate with Fanny really knows whey they didn't hit it "big"... they had the right mixture of creativity and talent, and they could rock. Let's hope today's listeners will agree! Check out fannyrocks dot com for more.

  • It was different then. People got pissed if you stepped out of your "role". Girls gave me more grief than guys about playing lead guitar, asked if I wished I were a man, etc. It's a little better now, thanks to Fanny & others.

  • @SS421982 Because they were women.

  • @SS421982 What do you mean they didn't make it?

Didn't this make the top 40?

  • @SS421982 I think Cher's comment might be a tip off as to why they never made it when she says it seems "strange" to see their act. The public wasn't used to seeing women that could rock at that point in time. They couldn't get it.
