I really like both Opeth and Porcupine Tree, but I'm not sure if I like this video. It's hard to tell if the performance is really good but the recording is poor quality, or if the performance was just a little shaky.
This was the tour when Opeth and PT were co-headlining. Opeth were playing mostly songs from Damnation, and I think Mikael was already a bit nervous about how the crowd would react to a growl-less set from them. It was a great show all around.
@Jalanko13 you have really good musical tastes, i like that 4 bands but holly shit!! orphaned land and opeth the same day! (they are two of my favorite bands) i don't know if my heart can stand it hearing them play a song together will be heaven....
@memingas18 Dude, it's a live recording, ofcourse the quality is going to be worse than your fancy LPs. And you can clearly hear he sings off-key sometimes and that his voice is a bit shaky. That has nothing to do with the amount of bits running through the audio.
These two should do their own project, aside from PT and Opeth. That would be something incredible. Since Mikael can't growl anymore, he's apt to go in a more mellow direction anyway.
@NPazable They are going to release their own project. I can;t remember the name of it now (drunk here) but I believe it will be released on 2012. It's going to be awesome. I heard it's going to be a sort of part 3 to Opeth's last album Heritage and Steven Wilson's latest Grace for Drowning. It's going to be a crazy good one!
@NPazable Mike can still growl like a beast, he just doesn't feel it anymore. You should watch the making of of Heritage. 8) The growls on their last tours sounded so weird, because they used in-ear monitors on stage. He explained it in an interview.
if Mikael Akerfeldt, Kobi Farhi and Steve Wlison performed one song, just one song together, i would die right on the spot from the awesomeness, in a state of perfect Bliss and Harmony.
@blasttyrant666 ok ok cool, another steven wilson solo album would be nice, insurgentes was awsome. i havent gotten that into blackfield yet, got both albums, and just hasent quite clicked with me yet but i like it for sure. but defanetly the mik and steven callab is what i look most forward to. but man i was hoping for a new PT album real soon, but no biggie, i can wait till 2012(hopefully no later than2013 haha). aslong as steven wilson keeps doing somthing with music im happy
@blasttyrant666 holy fuck man, can you imagine, two god making a baby album? it willl be AMAZING, there is no doubt bout that. and yeah its conferimed that opeth is in the studio recordind there new album, i hered it was going to be called HoodSorrow. do you know anything about a new PT album by chance?
That drums doesn't sound like Gavin Harrison's...it might be the low quality of the sound, but still is great to hear'em both PT and Opteh together....GREAT!!!
@FractalBolt Sorry man, the mp3 has been on my harddrive since like forever. I was never at the actual show, but I noticed that this hadn't been uploaded. Not sure where I got it from either, but if I would take a guess I would probably say that I got it from the old official opeth forums.
@demonof90 "To promote the album the band undertook four tours of Europe and North America, including one with acclaimed Swedish metal band Opeth." From PT's wikipedia page. This was while promoting In absentia.
@CydoniaKnight1 If you listen at 5:09 or roundabouts, Steven says "Mikael Akerfeldt, there he goes!" The sounds quality makes it hard to tell which band is playing tbh
@ShiivaWilding kind of hard to have the exact keyboard sounds that richard barbieri has on his keys, and they match the album, so it kinda has to be PT
