@95SouthSide wouldnt make any sense then as those weapons would counter act its special power of biotic charge............theres a point in the game where you get advanced weapon training so just choose sniper rifle
@ezrameszaros every character class has a unique power that they get from the beginning. for vanguards, they start off with the biotic charge like soldiers get the adrenaline rush, or sentinels get tech armor.

Any character can learn any "spell". At some point in the game, you can buy a slot where you can learn a new "spell". Though you can only learn one at a time.
Do you learn another spell. The extra spell you have from before will be deleted. (sorry if this was a complicated answer)
Be warned if you're a vanguard dont pick the claymore shotgun! it does alot of damage but you get 1 shot! just 1 shot and you have to reload making it almost useless.. You get a 2nd shotgun (upgrade from the one you start up with) that has the best rate of fire. I think its called assault shotgun.

Sweet. I sure hope so, because then I'm definitely choosing sentinel. Does anybody else know for sure? Because then I won't end up having to use pistols for the whole game because I chose sentinel thinking I could at one point use assault rifles.
@master5of5puppets soldier can use all weapons so on collectors ship they can choose one of the best shotgun, sniper rifle and assault rifle: 1 shot sniper rifle, claymore shotgun (the same you upgrade for Grunt) and 80 rounds assault rifle dunno how good it is, i've chosen sniper for my soldier
When you explore the derelict Reaper you can find a weapon locker that trains you in ANY weapon type, so any class could eventually learn how to use an assault rifle.

Ok, I just got through my first playthrough of this game as a vanguard, and I loved it. But here's the deal, I never thought charge was useful AT ALL. All it does is take you out of cover and lunge you at an enemy. And next thing you know, you are open to fire and you get your ass shot off just so you could kill one guy with fucking charge. I went ahead and got it to 4 just in case I didn't know how to use it correctly, though. Maybe it is useful and I just don't know.
It really doesn't make a difference. If you have a strong enough PC, then it works great on PC, I'm sure. But it is excellent on Xbox, and if you have the previous game, it makes it alot better. Honestly, you should play the first one first, and if you already have, just get the second one for the same system you got the first one for.

I haven't experimented a lot with other powers. I thought that Barrier would be nice, since it gave you extra shield for a period of time. You know, good for those charging times ;)
Yes, Barrier works great with Vanguard, it is also a biotic power so it fits with the class...talking about defensive powers, i'd suggest Fortification for Sentinels, you're nearly invincible ; )
I heard fortification is good for vanguards because unlike barrier or geth shields it doesn't end when you use charge, but apart from fortification i'm thinking reave or warp ammo
charge itself recharges shields, so i think think that a biotic defense power (barrier) would fit a biotic class (vanguard) better than a tech power (fortification)
but because of some retarded glitch, charge deactivates barrier and geth shields when used, but I do wish that I could use barrier, it looks cooler :D
what the hell are you talking about. charge does not deavtivate barrier when charged is used, yes the graphic may be activated but you still get the benefit of barrier boosting your shields. Next time you use barrier, check in your squad menu the boost it gives your shields, then use charge and you see the boost charge gives you, it stacks.
No, I did choose a new character, since I only got ME 1 for Xbox. I believe every class get a specialization, where you can choose between different skills. I don't remember when you get it.

At a point you can learn (at least) assault rifle. Don't think you can learn sniper rifle.
And heavy weapon is standar. You don't need to learn that.

Yeah I did. Not my Vanguard though. One of my partners had that ability.
Though you can unlock abilities. When you get someone to be loyal to you, you can learn their special ability. (at a price of course)

I haven't experimented a lot with other powers. I thought that Barrier would be nice, since it gave you extra shield for a period of time. You know, good for those charging times ;)

Yes, Barrier works great with Vanguard, it is also a biotic power so it fits with the class...talking about defensive powers, i'd suggest Fortification for Sentinels, you're nearly invincible ; )

I don't know if you can get more patterns. But you start with three. One of them is a camouflage-pattern.
You can change the colours and patterns in your cabin. You can also buy different armours. Like buy new shoulders, legs, helmet, and so on.
