  • JJ leaving in the same car that Bigelow came in lol

  • It seemed to me WCW was always taking the attention away from what was going on in the ring. It was always the NWO or something else, like this. I remember years ago while I watched a show, my mom was in the room and asked, 'what are the commentators talking about? That's not what going on in the ring!' I was like, 'wow. Even she noticed.' =/

  • clearly wwf was taking over at this point

  • They've never witnessed anything like this EVER.

  • danm yes

  • Bam Bam Bigelow should have been given the goldberg undefeated gimmick. I guess he was too injury prone but it really would have been alot better to have him do it instead of Goldberg.

  • Sorry folks, but this is the way you do a debut. By surprise, and without weeks and weeks of hype.

  • Did anyone else ever find themselves trying to remember what happened in the actual matches at the end of a nitro?

  • One of the only things I liked about this video, Tony called it "Professional Wrestling".

  • so dangerous he lost to LT...

  • Yea guys like bam bam and vader were scarry to even watch on tv in their prime, and biggalo was so agile for his size it was a treat to watch him, true talent

  • one of the best Debuts ever

  • how many times did wcw get "invaded"? every bloody week someone tried to "take over"

  • @tottiballbag10 I believe SCOTT HALL was the 1st "outsider" to walk in & take over their program hostage lol. 1996 ppl.

  • @Necrocide187 lex luger "invaded" wcw before scott hall

  • @tottiballbag10 he said "Outsider", as in The Outsiders.

  • I love how the announcers are saying "What the heck is he doing here?" & "Hes not employed with WCW," but yet he's conveniently dressed in his wrestling gear....

    Wah-wah-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  • HaHa Nostalgia!!! "You're Fir-" "you can't fire me I QUIT!!!!!" LOL @ JJ DILLON VS ERIC BISCHOFF LOL

  • Wrestling will never be great like this again. It was a joy for me to come home from school and watch the next shocking thing to happen on Nitro.

  • Late 1997 to 2001 the greatest time in professional wrestling no argument

  • @csals7 More like 1996-2000.

  • Bam Bam Bigelow hadn't been in WWF for years at this point. So this technically wasn't a jump from the WWF. Bam Bam Bigelow was mainly in independents and ECW before this happened.

  • Why did Bam Bam jumped from ECW to WCW?

  • @2011mrkingofkings Money. A lot of the guys that were in the ECW ( especially the more established guys like Shane Douglas and Bam Bam Bigelow.) were offered considerably more money from Eric Bischoff than what Paul Heyman and Tod Gordon could afford to pay them. ECW was also getting into financial trouble by this time, because of skyrocketing salaries being paid out ( primarily by the WCW) and their paycheques were starting to bounce.

  • This was so awesome, especially the following weeks as Nash got involved!! these men just wanted a peice of each others ass and it made for a good storyline in my opinion!!!

  • lol Goldberg comes out after security already has arrived haha

  • I remember this shit hyped me the F*** up

  • I got chills watching this. This was good writing!!!! Made u believe it was for real!

  • @silkaem It did?

  • mean gene running thats funny shit

  • @ohcaz262 dont think u could call that running :D

  • JJ was riding the brake pedal on his way out lol

  • Typical WCW announcer response:

Announcer 1: It's (insert WWF superstar here)!!!!!!!!!

Announcer 2: What the heck is he doing here?!?!?!

    Lame ass commentary

  • @j0nk0n9 It's funny when Tony says "We have never seen anything like this in the history of Monday Nitro before!"

Uh, yeah you have. Many times.

  • @j0nk0n9 Except Bigelow came from ECW

  • @j0nk0n9 Well, what we're they supposed to say?

    "It's....It's Bam Bam Bigelow."? lol

  • @j0nk0n9 lol the part that got me was when they said weve never seen anyone come in like this. lol what

  • Bam Bam drives around in his wrestling gear? Now that's a real man ladies and gentlemen!!!! Man, WCW started this off big time. Bam Bam was awesome!!!! The crowd was so fired up. Gotta love it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This was a huge ripoff of the Tyson/Austin confrontation from earlier that year.

  • what city was this in?

  • they need to do something like this on tna to get people talkin.

  • @mightyjoe618 You do realize, of course, that "something like this" would be Mark Henry showing up out of nowhere and getting into a confrontation with Matt Morgan followed by three minutes of Eric Bischoff yelling at Hulk Hogan, right? I don't think there would be a whole lot of "people talkin" about a Henry-Morgan feud.

  • @irishbearcat2006 This was one of the few Good things in ece back then as bam bam was a big name on the indies all his carrer

  • the beast from the east baby!

  • Bigelow should have had a run with a either the WCW of WWE belt at some point. He really was the best big man of his generation, by far.

  • @funkiersnoog you can blame triple h and hbk for bigelow leaving wwe

  • @funkiersnoog He should've been WCW U.S. Champ and feuded with Booker T or Chris Benoit.

  • @funkiersnoog Agreed, Vader Was Pretty Sweet Too

    Goldberg Over Bam Bam, HAHAHA

  • This angle really could lit the fire that was fading in WCW. It could have lasted a few months even had it been done right. Unfortunately we got the finger poke of doom instead at Starrcade 1998. And the ratings fell flat and fast in 1999. Goldberg never was in any real legitimate feuds during that whole undefeated streak and that ended up up hurting him IMO. When the nWo screwed him over even that was played through poorly.

  • @bobolob it was took weeks after starcade not the event but i agree

  • @hbk2hhh Yea. My mistake. I was thinking of the whole cattle prong thing and finger poke of doom thing being part of one giant cluster f*ck. The whole thing was just a big joke on the fans. A time when WCW made its final big step backwards where the fans really started tuning out.

  • @bobolob Fingerp poke at Starrcade 1998?

  • @TheWCWite Well okay, it was the next night on Nitro, but I meant that whole f'd up angle that put WCW in the toilet once and for all.

  • Actually, this was Bam Bam's return, since he first left WCW in 1990.

  • @DefLeppardVanHalen, Bam Bam Bigelow was in WCW before? First I heard of him wrestling there in 1990

  • @joelsterling He also wrestled there briefly in 1988.

  • bam bam smoked the pink cigar.

  • I like that he was just driving around town in his tights. I wonder if he had to pump gas on his way to the arena.

  • DoubleYa C DoubleYa \m/

  • I remember this night like it was yesterday. This was in Wichita KS. I took my dad who is one of those "todays wrestling is shit compared to my day" kind of guys. Much like I am now when looking back to these days. Anyway he was acting through the entire show like he wasnt interested at all, always sitting down and shit, until this segment when security filled the ring. Then he stands up and says "ok whats going on here?" He thought it was real. Damn I miss these days.

  • @jayhoyt28 I was totally there too. I was about to describe it on here but I already did 10 months ago lol.

  • The man, who headlined Wrestlemania just 3 years prior to this!

  • Bam Bam Bigelow was awsome.

  • FUCKING EPIC!!!!

  • At least Bam Bam got a cool and fitting introduction to the company. HOWEVER I always used to hate it when a match would be going on and they'd cut away from it for something happening backstage. Ah well, Bam Bam was one of the best big men to ever step inside the squared circle. Rest in Peace, Bam Bam

  • bam bam was great

  • Listen, Bammer, I understand you want Goldberg. I understand that WCW will let you trespass on their show. I understand that it's perfectly fine to waste valuable air time, but dammit man, don't you EVER interrupt another Scott Putski match like that again!

  • On Raw is War, The Rock had his first night on Raw as the World Wrestling Federation Champion

  • That was the most work Doug Dillenger did in the entire duration with the company...there are some funny stories in Ric Flair's book about him, including one where he allowed one of Flair's robes to be stolen. Bret Hart said the same thing about his ring jackets being stolen in his book too.

  • I like how they make Goldberg come out after there is security in the ring.

  • At first I thought Chavo was Dean Malenko. Darn, I would have been mad if they interrupted one of his matches for this.

  • @theboombody - me too. lol. i was more than sure it was malenko

  • Does he always drive around in his wrestling gear and taped wrists?? never know ehen they`ll call for a match.........*hops on trampoline*

  • great angle and i always thought wcw was a shambles in late 98. this is the type of stuff that would make me wanna watch a tv show or buy a ppv, like the joe-angle confrontation in 06. rip scott charles bigelow

  • Man Bigelow could have owned like a motherfucker if they just let him. Together with Mike Awesome (RIP) he was the best big man who ever stepped in the ring. I miss him.

  • This is a great segment...too bad I was exclusively watching WWF at the time. Hahaha.

  • I remember watching as this happened. I was pretty excited at first, but it took about one week to realize WCW had no idea how to use him.

  • Unfortunately, like so many others. Bret Hart for example.

  • @adamchyk Totally agree.

  • was those real security?

  • r.i.p bam bam bigelow.

  • Out of curiosity, what was with Bischoff blaming JJ? I know it was scripted, in kayfabe, however the rest of this video was really cool, just that one part threw me off

  • "The buffet is just right down the street.....$2.99 all you can eat, go put them out of business." Hahahaha

  • do yall think jj dillon cried in the car lol

  • You know what's funny? They said Bam Bam's not employed by WCW, but he's wearing his wrestling gear. Who wears their wrestling gear to the arena?

  • Wow. I don't even remember Bigelow being in WCW at all. Knowing WCW, he probably ended up getting fed to Goldberg before they forgot about him.

The man was an absolute beast in ECW. Best... big man wrestler... ever. RIP.

  • wow what a seriously good debut! rip bam bam

  • What a kickass debut!

  • it was would of better if he wasnt wearing wrestling gear

  • bam bam bigleow would kill golberg in a real fight.

  • That's kinda obvious. Too bad Bam Bam is dead now, though.

  • Doubt it. I don't like Goldberg but I've seen Bam-Bam try his hand at the MMA world and he wasn't very good. In contrast it's my understanding that despite being punked by Jericho, Goldberg's actually well versed in Ju Jitsu and can go in a shoot fight.

  • I was totally at this event. It was rocking. I've never lost my voice like that before. Wichita, Kansas of all places. This Nitro was hot from top to bottom minus a couple of the matches like the one going on at the beginning of this clip and something with that Iceberg guy...Glacier? Best show I've ever been to, and in my opinion one of the best Nitros ever. Who knew WCW was just a short spurt away from complete demise. How could they screw up this kind of intensity so quickly? Oh yea, Nash!

  • Nitro at its peak was by far and away the best, most unpredictable wrestling show ever. You just never knew what was going to happen - mainly because the bookers had no real idea what was going to happen until the day of the show. But it made for some great television. Good times.

  • @randomjrr1422 Sure made it hard for mid-carders though.

  • I Remember This Was The Night After Bam Bam Bigelow Got The Ass Whipping Of A Lifetime By RVD In ECW LOL

  • Ohhh into the buckle ... that's gotta hurt Gene!!!!

  • coccaine

  • yup LOTS of cocaine

  • I love Bobby Heenan's commentary.

  • i f*cking hella marked out whe this happened back then! "Goldberg get your ass out here! I'm BAM BAM BIGELOW!" EPIC!

  • This STILL gives me goosebumps. You gotta love true live tv. This is how you book a live show. You have to give the viewer a feeling that anything can happen.

  • R.I.P Bam Bam Bigelow.

  • @StefanoFan27 when did he pass away?

  • @LOLMikeHawk he died January 19 2007 cause he had a heart attack

  • Tony: We understand something has occured backstage... ... Yes, we have stolen another wrestler from another federation.

  • You're a moron. Bam Bam chose to go there after being treated like a joke in the WWF. Jobbing to some football player.

  • right back at you fuckface. hope you eat some posion grass.

  • Uhh...Bam Bam came to WCW by way of ECW.

  • @ColorsBright WCW didn't steal him. He walked out of ECW because he said the company 'wasn't worth it'. Tommy Dreamer said so himself.

  • @ColorsBright While I loved ECW can you blame Bam Bam for leaving? He was owed money and while loyalty means alot supporting yourself and your family is more important.

  • @ColorsBright ECW!

  • @ColorsBright Actually. A lot of wrestlers were at WCW first before they were at WWF :)

Undertaker, Kane, HHH, Scott Hall, etc...they were at WCW first :)

  • @thedocumentarian Yea, but they all made names for themselves in the WWF. WWF knows how to market its stars. That was a big part of WCW's downfall or at least why WWF started destroying WCW in the ratings.

  • @ColorsBright From ECW, not WWE.

  • @jww112093 He walked out on ECW because Heyman fucked him over on his pay.

  • @BeingASmartMarkSucks Yeah I know, but he originally worked in World Wrestling Entertainment in 1987.

  • @jww112093 This is an annoyingly pathetic of me to say, but it's a pet peeve of mine. Bam Bam worked for the WWF, not WWE. Yes, I know they are the "same company," but to me, it's significant to keep them straight when talking about eras.

  • @aceldamahotel Well yeah, but I consider it both.

  • God damn! I miss the Monday Wars!!! Wrestling was so awesome when I was growing up!

  • @ColorsBright i know that was a joke and i don't wanna be the asshole to take that comment too seriously lol but for everyone else he left volunterily cuz he wasn't getting paid well, if at all.

  • I loved when WCW got chaotic!!!

  • haha CHAVO got owned by BAM BAM!!lol

  • isnt that the same car that bam bam arrived in?

  • lmao yea

  • shit. The Beast from the East Bam Bam was fuckin awsome. R.I.P. BAM BAM

  • wcw was the shit in the late 90's

  • Shame Bigelow ended up being another one of Goldberg's bitches when they met in the ring.

  • Agreed. He was far too good for that. Bam was one of the few big men who didn't simply rely on being big to get by. He could actually work a great looking match.

  • Fast and Furious?

  • That was really cool, especially for a massive Bigelow fan like me.

  • Man, did the crowd get hot for this.

  • If it sucks? than WHY are YOU watching IT?!! *SIGHS*

  • man i miss these days wrestling will never be the same again its all for little kids thats way i watch tna closest thing to wcw..tna tna tna

  • i 100% agree with you about goldberg...guy blew. but please...you think bischoff ruined wcw...? my friend, eric was the reason it got as big as it did in the first place....he created the nwo. say what you want, but it was the nwo angle that put wcw on top and kicked wwf's ass for a couple years...ever watch nitro BEFORE the nwo came along? it was brutal. and eric didn't bring russo in either..russo was brought in by the board of directors to replace eric.

  • I agree Eric made mistakes but he was the reason that WCW kicked the wwf's ass for 84 weeks in row stratight.

  • Comment removed

  • Did that old man J.J. Dillion really think he could tell Bam Bam Bigelow to leave? Bam Bam was better than Goldberg! R.I.P.

  • rip bam bam

  • what an awesome debut. this seriously had potential to be a promising match. The fans were buying into it. Shame on WCW

  • yea WCW 95-99 was the best I liked it better the wwf and it was better then anything tna/wwe has today

  • the new wrestling fans in the John Cena, HHH, steffy mcmahon era have FORGOTTEN how AWESOME WCW NiTRO WAS.

from 1995 to 1999 it was nothing but surprises week after fucking week.

yes guys, the NWO eventually got stale but for 86 weeks in a row Nitro was the BALLS.

  • yeah Nitro rocked from about 95-99. NWO I think would have not got old had they kept the group count low maybe 6 guys max. But they wore out the concept.

  • I was at this Nitro! It happened in Wichita, KS! Goldberg and Bam Bam dragged their fight to the side of the entrance way at the time the show ended.

  • I was totally there too. Sad that the match at the end ended like that though. There were some great moments and matches that night too.

  • bam bam should have debut and starting 2 atleast whip goldberg asss, but look at tank abboit, bam bam fat ass would have got whip

  • what a great entrance couldent alll superstars start like this and why he want goldberg

  • Another failed project by WCW. That was an awesome debut. This could have been so cool. Instead WCW dropped the ball and faded Bam Bam out.

  • bam bam just needed a good nwo beat down hes lucky he came out when the force was on vacation

  • RIP Bam Bam Bigelow. :(

  • its sad wcw went out of business. I felt wcw was more full of surprises, with better wrestling. But vince always has the advantage, despite how well wcw does to promote its brand. i miss wcw!

  • I love Bam Bam Bigelow I wish I could see him as the world champion!

  • i think bam bam bigelow was on drugs right here

  • Posthumously?

  • lol was that the same car in the first and last scenes?

  • One of the great stars of the sport. RIP, Scott.

  • most dangerous man in wrestling hahaha.... they were on drugs i think lol

  • they also said that Mach Man Randy Savage was at one time in WCW

  • uh, yeah...he was in there for a quite a few years...

  • what are you talking about?

  • ah, sorry, I just realized you were responding to most dangerous man thing, lol, I thought you were only talking about him being in WCW one time at first, my mistake, lol

  • The announcers saying theyve never seen anything like it in the history of wcw, somebody just walking into the ring from outside!!

Eh......scott hall and kevin nash 1996????

    Short term memory i think!!!

    R.I.P bam

  • I don't remember, why was Bam bam looking for Goldberg?

  • Couldn't they rented another car instead of having Bam Ban Bigelow & JJ dillon sharing?

  • i get sick of watchin wcw videos and havin to type the same thing over and over with just a different name

    R.I.P. Bam Bam

  • To the dumb fucks below. Bam Bam Bigelow was not just driving up from the supermarket, or anything like that. He came for Goldberg, hence why he was in gear. Dumbasses.

  • what a big pussy goldberg is, comes out after security come out, bam bam would fuck him up

  • and the best part is at the end when JJ Dillon drives off in the same red cadillac that bam bam showed up in. classic, i love it

  • first of all, if this was "real" why they hell would bam bam be riding around wearing that stupud outfit? haha. just a coincidence he shows up in his wrestling gear with his wrists taped. was he on his way to the supermarket?

  • LMAO! I was thinking the same thing. You'd think they have enough sence to have him come out in street clothes if he's showing up unannounced.

  • hahahaha

  • so true

imagine ur at a bar and ur a bit drunk then u hear one beer in a deep voice from behind then u turn round to see a 6ft something balding blonde dude with large pythons in a ripped yellow t-shirt yellow underpants....

why would bam bam turn up in his gear??

  • in ecw he was def at the top, his feud with taz was as big as anything during that time, plus he was champion for a short time, so in ecw he was above midcard level

  • You damn right he was I wish he couldve atleast got another ECW title run before it folded or atleast in TNA as champion before his death RIP BAM BAM one of tha best big men EVER!!! He als0 was another "Monster" from tha USA who did VERY VERY well in Japan!
