Poor owl..the adult in the video was supposed to have been caring and concerned for it & either put it back in his nest or called the wildlife people.
ALL I GOT TO SAY IS FUCK THESE LIL KIDS POKING THIS LIL HOMIE WITH A STICK. POKE THEM WITH A STICK IN THERE FUCKING EYE. SEE HOW THERE PUNK ASS PARENTS FEEL ABOUT THAT YOUTUBE VIDEO. bLESSINGS
I was reading the comments about "doesn't look well". That's because it is scared plus it is not used to being out in the day light. They will shut their eyes almost all the way so "you can't see them". I did read some good advice about speaking to a vet or a rehabber. That is probably best to do, all things considered.
the best way to help a baby owl is to talk to a vet who can give you names of rehabbers or shelters. They best know its diet because owls don't eat worms. Its nocturnal too so whatever happened to this lil guy he's totally unawares....lol but they don't eat worms or insects. they mainly eat rodents of any kind like ripped up squirrels hampsters, guinea pigs, rats, lemmings rabbits possums....
Some pretty heartless comments here, would you rather it be tortured and had whatever else done to it? that's what happens more often in todays society. Be happy they didn't leave it/torture it and decided to help it.
Good kids? What the hell are you people talking about. They're poking it with a stick with a rusty nail under it. The owl is clearly injured and probably fell from a height. Owls at that age are suppose to be high up in a secured area with other owls. They should have immediately called animal control or a local wild life volunteer and got it to a vet.
@SisOwnz Dude, that 'nail' is a worm. Didn't you see the other worm wiggling about in front of the owl? And I don't think nails would bend like that. They must have been trying to feed it and after that, their parents probably found the owl and called animal control, or done something to help it.
when you want to FEED a hurt(or baby) owl you need small pieces of CHICKEN wrapped around in cat FUR or dog fur that you get when you groom your dog/cat.
they need to eat small pieces of meat WITH FUR as they do in the wild when they eat a mouse or a small bird.(in that case feathers ofcourse) i found 2 owls when i was younger and that's what one lady told me,she has like about 40 owls that she rescued.
I get a strange feeling some of you are not sure what is happening in this video... they are trying to feed a worm to it. They're not trying to hurt it, actually quite the opposite and it is quite noble if I say so myself.
how the f*ck is this animal abuse? all they're doing is poking it. is it human abuse when my friend's dog jumps on my to sniff me? (it's not a baby anyways. i think it's a Screech owl. Screech owls are very very small)
Awww poor kids :( i remember doing something similar to another kind of bird. It was laying on the road and i took it with me home, kept it warm then went worm hunting! Broke my heart when it stopped moving :(
Good for these children. Their parents should be proud. They tried to do the right thing and be kind to the poor animal. So many others would be cruel. Good kids here. When you do good for other creatures, good comes back to you.
@free2drm Their intention may have been reasonable, but feeding a baby bird a worm is likely to choke them to death. A can of cat food is more ideal.. stinky.. but wont kill them. I suppose you can mash the worm up first though.
when i was that age, we found an abandoned baby squirrel and named it "maxie twinkle." my sisters and a neighbor nursed it out of shock under supervision, made it a little comfy house in a box (with a door), and let it run free when it was ready. that reminds me a lot of these kids, whom i applaud for their innate kindness. that drive to help those in distress (even if they are owls or squirrels) should be nurtured (it leads to good things!) and not suppressed by harsh skeptics.
@larisabrodman leaving it alone would mean death on the ground. or did you mean to say YOU'RE the stupid brat? Best thing to have done is bring it to a local wildlife center. which are easy to find.
hey that's a wild animal don't u know that playing wit one is 2 dangerous it can bite u kids no wonder it ha rabies its a disease u have 2 get like 20 shots from the doctor it can find its own food and ur being 2 rough u know that rite it's wild if u keep it, maybe it will want it's mommy or daddy 2 feed him not u guys leave it alone!!!!!!!!!!
Next time bring it to the ASPCA or Humane Society instead of trying to take care of it yourself. Owls are very delicate and even if you're trying to help it you could scare it and possibly kill it.
@InsaneTrainOnTrack While I agree they should have gotten help, the HSUS is secretly as insane as PeTA and would probably kill it immediately. Most shelters euthanize wild animals because they can't care for them, though. Everyone tends to lose in these situations.
I love how the little kids are trying to keep the owl from falling over, too cute. And chill out people! Its not like they are poking it and trying to provoke the little owl. They are just trying to help it! jeez
@kotapaka You're right it is an animal. But we human beings who have put ourselves at the top of the intelligence ladder and call ourselves so superior need to step up and start doing the right thing when it comes to animals and the environment. We'd be stupid to think that we could live on this planet without these "animals". Get with the times.
it's obvious that the people in the video were young, maybe 7-9 years old, they don't know better. Stop insulting them, all your doing is proving your lack of deductive skills.
it seems he does not want it if it does not dont give it to him just leave there hell eat it on his own and yes its baby owl it needs a mom but give it to the adults and go buy a cat
That animal is extremely sick, and it does not eat worms. Stop trying to shove worms in its beak. It is not the case that all birds eat worms, or the case that all birds constantly want to eat worms.
@SuperSurvivalGuy - It's sad that everyone has to be rude on YouTube. I mean, you're hiding behind an alias. Owls do not generally dig up and eat worms. I would feed a baby owl, human baby food, possibly cooked ground beef, maybe small peices of chicken, eggs and start looking at vitamin foods. My first post was terrible but I have been handling wild birds for a couple of decades. Robins, sigh, robins simply never survive injuries. Owls, crows, sea gulls, hawks - much better chance.
@MWCharke My family was fortunate enough to raise a robin when I was about 4 or 5. We were walking along the street, and apparently a baby robin (feathered, but too young to fly) had fallen on the road. Fortunately, it landed in the middle of the street so that no cars hit it and we had a screened in porch. We let it live on our porch and kept it fed until it was ready to fly on its own. It even came back once after we released it. We fed it, but then it took off on its own for good.
I am sure that these kids got an adult to help the owl out. Usually when kids find something outside even remotely interesting, they will tell their parents. But with something as exciting as a baby owl, I'm sure they immediately went inside and told their parents. So don't worry, everyone. ;)
It's so cute but so sad. I'm glad the kids were trying to help. I too, hope they told their parents. Sadly when I was really young I'd probably try to help it too.
hey, the kids tried their best. i'm 13 and i can tell you, five years ago i would have probably done something like that. kids don't know what to do. They saw a little bird and they knew birds ate worms. you can't expect them to go look up how to care for an owl. i know alot of people who would do worse. i love wild animals , and believe the owl deserved proper care, but you can't blame the kids for trying to help, they did their best.
@xXdancingfreakz97Xx im also 13 and agree very much when it comes to smaller children you cant trust 100% of the time. although recently ive rescued a baby house sparrow and hes grown up to become my best friend. we watch tv together, we go on walks together and he even sleeps by my side every night. he's a great pall and i trust him completely.
That's great. The kids are enamored with the little guy. They will grow up to respect and appreciate wildlife, unlike too many kids today who would just asume to ping it with a bb gun.
they shouldnt be touching that owl it looks like a eastern screech maybe not because of its size but hopefully they sent it to a rescue center as wolfxyj2 said because if not it will become imprinted and not know how to live n the wld and well die it was cute that the kids were trying to help it but its important that the dosent imprint
why is that owl so big and fat? its almost completly round! and its fluffy =3 but its not ina hollow and its day light...and it wont open its eyes... or move! it doesnt care ppl are touching it...
What happened to the owl, anybody know?

That's great. The kids are enamored with the little guy. They will grow up to respect and appreciate wildlife, unlike too many kids today who would just asume to ping it with a bb gun.

they shouldnt be touching that owl it looks like a eastern screech maybe not because of its size but hopefully they sent it to a rescue center as wolfxyj2 said because if not it will become imprinted and not know how to live n the wld and well die it was cute that the kids were trying to help it but its important that the dosent imprint

Just be careful. You could get fined big time just for /touching/ a bird of prey without a permit... That's your government for you...
