@blindspot2011 quoted for truth; when the Nimitz class went into service the old Enterprise just wasn't up to spec so she was scrapped. from what i know though most of her metal and bulkhead plates were used to make the USS Truman which is a Nimitz Class Supercarrier. 110,228 metric tons of displacement, she's a beautiful boat.

I haven't managed te gitt mah grubby mits in a dvd yet so I can't yet comment on a comparison between them, but I'm still sure you're right. Even series 2 couldn't beat series 1. It was just that good.

Also, I too want that model, and use it Battlefleet Gothic as a Star Fort, since its just that baddass.

Quite obviously no one here has seen the original '70s anime and had a geekgasm from these trailers. PROTIP: The Yamato is basically the baddest, most assest ship in the universe, and tears through the ENTIRE intergalactic enemy hyperfleet.

@KaiCalimatinus iv'e seen the 70's anime. it was way more awesome than this live action one. the old hand drawn technique of drawing was awesome and the story was epic. the yamato can blast anything in its path ALONE! (i wish i could get hold of a model kit of it. would greatly supplement my gundam and macross collection)... ^_^
