I think all gay guys should shut the fuck up and mind their own respective business(es).
Most gay contention always seems to lead to psychopathy, and the older the queen the more sociopathic said interaction becomes. And yes, I know what I'm talking about. **sips hot tea**
Thanks for this. It gets old hearing video after video of fem guys talking about masculine hatred towards them, when it's usually in response to a guy asking to be with a kind of guy they like. Pretty hypocritical that their entire argument revolves around accepting people for who they are, when it really just seems like, in their POV, that you're either a crossdresser who calls people batches and lets their sexuality define them with cliches, or you're a fake-ass self-loathing bigot.
I totally agree with this. Effeminate gays tend to rant quite a lot about how they're just being who they are and they want to be more accepted, yet when it comes down to it, they put down the more masculine-acting guys for being who they are. I know they hate when people tell them they're being stereotypical, so I get why they're frustrated, but that's no reason for them to say "you're acting too hetero, we're different from straights and should act like it". So much for appreciating diversity
There are too many labels thrown around in the gay community, if ur annoying its because you are annoying, if you are a bitch thats because you choose to. As far as im concerned you could have rainbow coloured skin and only communicate through show tunes as long as you are not rude to other people, which includes straight people
I am pretty "straight acting". I Hunt, collect Knives, and Bows. I train MMA five days a week. I love violent movies and horror movies. I drink beer, and buy my clothes at K-mart. None of that makes me less gay. The part of me that makes me gay is the part that loves cock.
Davey Wavey is a typical fag, one of the 90% of gay men obsessed with sex and letting everyone know just how gay they are 110% of the time. As a person, who happens to be gay, i am sooo sick of these type of gay people. if what you talk about 99% of the time is sexual related stuff and being gay - you are making your sexuality who you are, you're stretching that 1 small thing about you to be all of you.... and you are sick in the head.
Lol, I can't believe there's really that much loathe on this video! Can't we just accept that even in the gay community, there are more feminine and more masculine people, just like in hetero or any other groups? What ExplorationB wanted to say WASN'T that you can't be a feminine gay or that he's the perfect masculine gay guy, but that you should let people be as they are NATURALLY, whether feminine or masculine!
I'm still waiting for the video where Davey Wavey puts a shirt on. I'm willing to guess the no-shirt thing is all part of his "Look at me, I'm gay" persona.
@dshutt27 They do ,but only have one issue and its not with them but since people see people in the gay community that can go back and forth. They make it seem like we can choose when we CAN'T. They are one reason why people always say we have a choice because they are not educated enough to know ONLY bisexual people can do that, I have know problem with them and Im gay.
Why not just accept people for who and what they are?...If you are kind, forgiving and loving, isn't that enough?..God made us all..gay straight or whatever...just MYOB.....by the way,,i'm gay...a christain...and happy with my life...I wish you peace....
Great video, I agree with it. But why not just say "non-camp", does what it says on the tin? I just think "straight-acting" is at best an oxymoronic term, however you interpret "acting" (pretending to be vs behaving in a certain way).
Camp vs 'straight-acting' is a false dichtomy anyway, I believe everyone is a mixture of camp and non-camp. Labels are for tins and clothes, not people. I say let people be individuals.
Sadly I find other gay men are far more h'phobic then straight men
I LOVE NASCAR, I'm gay and I also happen to be black. So using Wavey's law that means I'm a self-hating African American who "pretends to be 'redneckish'" and doesn't like the fact that i crave male genitalia. Did i get everything?
I cringe when Davey Wavey 'speaks' for the community as if he is an authority - or worse - as if he is the ultimate example of how a gay man is suppose to be. To be. To act. To think. To desire. ... cripes.
I don't want to rain on his parade. But he just seems like a 14 yr old girl in a man's body. His perspective seems a bit superficial.
Davey Wavey is feminine like Richard Simmons. Men won't wear short shorts anymore because they don't want to be associated with that type. Just sayin.
the problem is that people use "straight acting" as a synonym to masculinity.. for those gays that are masculine they then often call themselves straight acting.. the word "acting" in straight acting is another problem.. it makes it seem like you're not being yourself.. so by claiming to be "straight acting" you're pretty much admitting to be putting on a show or trying to be something you're not.
And anyone who thinks your hetoerosexual is JUST NOT paying attention! You're effeminate. But that's always the way it goes with "straight acting' guys. They are always the most blind to their own effeminacy.
You got a touchdown with this one man, I don't get why so many effeminate gay guys think that we masculine gay guys are pretending. Why should we identify ourselves with stereotypes? I'm gay, but I hate sex and the city with a passion, I can't stand chick flicks and I buy my clothes at walmart... In the mens department. just because I'm doesn't mean I should force myself to act in a way that makes me uncomfortable. STEREOTYPES ARE NOT THE GUIDELINES OF BEHAVIOR
I am gay but "masculine". I have remained "in the closet" except for two straight men who accept me as gay. I am a Catholic priest too. I love people, enjoy men and women. I do have a special sympathy for straight men. They have their problems too. It was difficult in High School. My self esteem has increased steadily; I enjoy life; I am sociable, gregarious even. I do not loathe myself. I use my gayness as a tool, even though I live fighting "with broken sabre! Yes, I see "gay" as a disorder!
I think gay means being attracted to the same sex. A gay man is attracted to men. You don't have to be a fem to like a man. Straight acting men are attracted to straight or masculine gays. If they wanted fem, they wouldn't be gay. I don't feel the idea of feeling you were born the wrong sex is gay. A man doesn't have to feel like a woman because he is attracted to men.
Your conclusion is right. We shouldn't be in fighting. I have real issue with people hating on gay guys for acting "feminine". However, I think "straight acting" as a label, perpetuates that kind of discrimination. Everyone is a mix of feminine and masculine acting depending on our social conditioning. Ultimately, I'm "me acting" and that's all that matters.
And to be blunt, As Dan Savage says: "You're f*cking guys, how straight acting can you be?"
Awe Dude, I have to disagree. "Straight Acting" is a reflection of internalized homophobia (or at least garden variety sexism). "Masculine" is a gender construct. It's entirely artificial. Ask yourself the question "What behaviour is distinctly "masculine" where a woman can't be associated with it?"
People claim "straight acting" as a means of differentiating themselves but is the motivation for it? The reason is that they are uncomfortable with associating with "feminine-acting".
I have never understood the masculine vs feminine thing. I act the way I act. I never hide who or what I am, but I can talk about footy or cars, and then switch to Glee or fashion just as easily. I am capable of having more than one personality trait, thats what makes me a well rounded person. I get really offended when people say "your acting like a girl" or "stop being such a queen. I'm being ME, because thats who I am, and its all I can be..
so much to think about......fills my head until I get a head ache! I appreciate all you said....and I appreciate DaveyWavey also. Both good points of view. I totally agree with you on the idea of sticking together and presenting a possitive "gay community" to the world! ABSOLUTELY! (even tho, I am not even "out")
YOU'RE CUTE -LIFE IS CONFUSING - YOU HAVE TO PUT UP WITH IGNORANCE EVEN IN THE INFORMATION AGE - ITS SAD - WHAT THE F%$* IS STRAIGHT ACTING IT'S RIDICULOUS-PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE
I dont really care about your thing about the gay thing, sorry. I just take human beings for human beings, I dont think about what they want to deal with sexually with themselves anyhow. I want to know whats with the back and forth British then American English accent? What are you?
i honestly flip flop sometimes i act fem sometimes i act masculine but by the end of the day i am STILL me i am still a Bisexual male and how can the gay community as to be accepted if they are complaining about each other it makes no sence
i've always said, if i wanted a girl, i'd be straight. I'm a man's man and PROUD of it. I do have a soft spot for Davey, but he can be really queeny sometimes....lol.
@ExplorationB When you said something about no fems to me it's like self-loathing because I think every man is a fem they just all hide it well infront of women or other men who hide it better.
Spot on. No matter which subculture you're in, there's always that "us vs them" mentality. I think the people who encourage such thinking are really insecure of themselves and make any attempt to parade their so called "insert defining word here."
When one acts the way one is, it is not gay acting or straight acting. It is you being yourself. I was Pres.of my HS, class and sch. fav., and I was just being myself. Do not try to hide anything. Close friends knew, and they kept my confidence. At the first reunion, i listed my bf as my spouse, and the past four years I have done the same, and NO PROBLEM.The more we're ourselves, the sooner we'll be accepted. I attended a HS of over 2,000 in TX.
I love when I read comments like: "we are better because we are not comforming to what people say we should, and that is a source of strength as a gay man." The problem is you are conforming to a social expectation. You're acting the society thinks gays act like. You will be hard pressed to have a person not think a guy is gay if he is acting like a princess, and davey want people to think like that. You are not being individuals, you are conforming to stereotypes.
When the revolution comes, gays will DEAL with the "straightacting" gays - but only AFTER the drag queens, crossdressers and transsexuals have kicked the crap out of the "straightacting" gays, then the others can have them.
@LaReinaDelBarrio thank you for encouraging discrimination instead of fighting against it....seriously "straightacting" is just a preference, not a word for HATE
@Lablank123 you hit the hammer right on the nail. This guy makes me throwup. "I'm masculine and I don't mind being called straight acting" Who in their right mind takes that shit as a compliment? They are complementing you for obeying the social norm of how men *should* act (gay/straight). Thats like going up to a Black person saying "Wow for a black person you act so professional" Or in this case "Wow for a gay man you act so "masculine" WTF This man disgusts me... Add me if you are willing to.
(cont.) Similarly, a gay man who plays sports and watches UFC isn't any less gay than a gay man who acts in musicals and watches Glee. Neither are they "self-loathing" as many try to call it. They're just being themselves.
Blah, I'm rambling now, but anyway, we should all accept each others' differences. To the guy who made this video, you're a cool dude.
The whole "straight-acting" gay guy argument reminds me of the "white-acting" black guy argument. Essentially, there's no more to being gay than being attracted to those of the same sex, just as there's no more to being black than having a different skin pigment. But people like to mistakenly tack a bunch of other stereotypes to those labels. For example, speaking "properly" and becoming a doctor doesn't make someone less black than speaking in Ebonics and becoming a basketball player. (cont.)
@krakenbwool04 Um honey you can act Black, you can act White, and you can act GAY. I remember watching videos of myself as a boy wearing wigs, playing with dolls, and acting "girly" or the way our society programs young women to act. Those "gay" mannerisms were innate to my being and essentially is what contributes to Gay Culture. Gay Behavior. As a black man living in a predominantly WHITE society I DO act white. I cut my hair to get jobs. I talk without an accent to impress my whitepeers(cont)
@krakenbwool04 Its fucking called assimilation!! A sign of weakness in my eyes. Yes I am WEAK. Weak because I do not express my individuality. Weak because I let societypaints a picture of how black men should act. AND weakbecause I allow society to commend me for "acting straight" thereby meaning superior or the way a man should act! HOW SHOULD A MAN FUCKING ACT?In my honest opinion "Femmes" or feminine acting gays have more balls than I will ever have and I respect them! THEY ARE TRUE MEN!
@krakenbwool04 You want to call them a faggot? SO WHAT! They embody the demonized creature and don't give a FUCK what society thinks of them! That is the men I want my brothas to be. I want the gay men out there to stand up, be who THEY are. Love themselves! So fucking what I say "Hay". So what I snap my fingers. So what I play sports and LOVE IT! So fucking what! I love my culture. My black culture. My gay culture. I love you guys because you are my brothers.
@krakenbwool04 And when someone tells me I am STRAIGHT ACTING that is the worst insult because I love being me and I love being apart of my gay culture. So please when someone complements you for acting like something you know you aren't (straight, white, black, whatever) please don't take it as a complement or be fine with it because what you present to this world is just your SHELL!
@krakenbwool04 They aren't complementing who you are but what you have become in order to survive comfortably in mainstream society. My gay brothers are so much more than a shell. We gays have so much to offer this world than a spiting image of what they want us to be and act. I love you guys (my gays). Please love yourself. So I'm don't with this video commenting crap. If you want to keep talking add me.
Don't be disappointed. No one is perfect. Not even gay ones.
People who have trouble with "straight-acting" is still having an identity problem. Not every gay person has to conform to some arbitrary stereotype. The point is to accept people the way they are, no matter what they are.
Oh please. Davey Wavey is completely right. Rather than attacking someone for making solid observations open you eyes and see the truth. I'm glad to see your viewership is so low. It shows that I'm not the only one actually has a brain and can see the power media and assimilation has over our lives. Get a life.
@Lablank123 How is he completely right? Because I just watched his video, and I agreed with almost nothing he said. Also, this video wasn't at all an attack on Davey Wavey, it was someone's reaction to and opinion on his views (which I also find rather invalid and judgemental).
I think if you run around in dresses and take on characteristics of a female, then you are the real self-hating gay because you are trying to be a straight woman. The true gays are the ones who like being guys, and like guys who don't want to prance around in stockings. So all the gays who say we are self hating, at least I am not trying to be a STRAIGHT woman....I am one of the real gay guys out there
I'm a "straight acting" gay guy, and guys like DaveyWavery are the reason I despise the gay community and will never be apart of it. Just because I can keep up with the straight guys in hockey, and I can throw a ball doesn't make me self-loathing...it makes me athletic.
@ExplorationB Straight-acting? AMEN? This statement right here proves Davey Wavey point. Why is it "good" or commendable for gay guys to be "straight acting"? Playing sports obviously doesn't make you self-loathing but commending each other for acting "straight" definitely IS. It's one of the most disgusting things you could do as a gay male. And on top of that, you guys *DESPISE* the gay community? You are fucking GAY!! My god. You guys are lucky I have 500 characters. Absolutely pathetic. SMH.
@Lablank123 So you're saying it's wrong for gays to be straight-acting and having others accept that, even applaud them for acting how they want despite stereotypes? If that's what you mean, then should all lesbians be butch and only like manly women too? Also, I doubt they actually ~despise~ the gay community, but they are allowed to disagree with its views on how a gay man should act and what he should like.
@Lablank123 The statement STRAIGHT ACTING, proves nothing!! I've watched an possibly even commented on Davey Wavey's video. What he's doing in that video is essentially the reverse of what he's talking about, condemning more masculine men because their not behaving exactly like him. Because they don't conform to a stereotype inflicted upon us by the straight majority.
PS - I'm not the most masculine of GAY men, but Davey Wavey makes me look positively heterosexual.. :D
@FoockMeRaw I'd bet money that Davey Wavey's video came about because he hit on a hot STRAIGHT ACTING guy the night before and the guy shot him down, because he wasn't into screaming queen.. :D
@FoockMeRaw The term straight acting implies that you NEED to prove your self worth to the world, as if being gay is a handicap! I will admit that I DO NOT fit the flamboyant stereotype of a gay male (a great majority of us don't) but I don't feel the need to call myself "masculine" or "straight acting". That's pathetic and a sign of weakness in my eyes because you are INSECURE with YOUR sexuality. Not only that, labels like those further bridges the gap, reinforcing stereotypes (fem or butch).
@FoockMeRaw I'm none of those. I am a human being. A man who happens to like men. I don't NEED a label to advertise myself YOU do. Why label yourself? Why allow society to put you in a box, you're either butch or fem. Then you get people asking these stupid questions like who's the man in the relationship? We both have dicks. Anyways, your stupidity and your need to wear a stereotype lets people feel the need to put us in a box. But Im done I'm not giving this idiot more views or attn 7 mos old.
@Lablank123 I don't hate the group, I love being gay and gays. Davey has a problem with the masculine gender role. Fine, but he is saying if others don't, you don't like being gay.
My main problem is that I don't know why he gets to define what the "group" is and how it should act, Or why some gays get to define how we all is should act....we are all individuals, and we don't have to act the same way...that's not hating the group you are a part of, that's just being individual people.
@TeamOhCanada You *despise* the gay community? But you are gay. Yet you "never want to be apart of it". And the uploader of this video says "Amen". Simply a disappointment. You remind me of gay men who consider themselves "straight" solely because they are tops. Weak statements on YOUR part. AND for the uploader of this flawed video I hope you do know that you cannot hold a candle to Davey. Try majoring in Sociology and stay the hell away from topics that are far too immense for you to grasp.
@TeamOhCanada Same here. I am so tired of ultra-liberal, effeminate gay guys speaking for all of us. Just because I act like a man, am an athlete, hate dance music, etc.doesn't mean I hate myself. What I really hate is group-think. It is HORRIBLE in the gay world which is why I have no contact with it anymore. I have gotten more crap from gay people, especially the liberal know-it-all types, than I ever have from straight people.
Yes! Brilliant, dood. Thanks for saying what you said here. I must admit DaveyWavey really, really, really pisses me off. You've articulated exactly why in a way I could not...too angry. Thanks.
There are exactly as many unique -- personal, individual -- sexualities in this world as there are people. As I write this... ?what... some 6.3 million, or so! No two people in this world like or do the same sexual things as anyone else. But, of course, in some circles, that can be highly argued when they "clique" up together in order to gang up on others; i.e, "We're gayer than you guys are! Nya-nya, nya-nya-nay!"
I am a man who loves men..."ac straight." I have to be asked by both straights and gays if I am gay or straight. I don't identify with any "label." I can tell you this much, the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Transvestite-Queer-Questioning-Queen-Closet-Private-Flaming-Butch-Femme (LGBTTQQQCPFBF) Community is one of the most devisive. Thus the labeling in the "accronym"... or whatEVER all that alphabet-stew is. They sometimes treat each other as bad, if not worse, than others treat them.
I totally agree with what you said! Plus, I can tell you have the ability to think where Davy Wavy is "tripe". I also like that you kept your shirt on. Straight or Gay, if you have to depend on what you look like versus how you think, people will not think you are credible. If you happen to be good looking and smart, keep your shirt on and people will think of you as both. Sometimes it's good to leave things for imagination. Thanks for your video.
@kfag101 Awe thanks, my friend Briony has bigger boobs than Marrilyn Monroe and bigger eyelashes than betty boop! She's def a lipstick lesbian! I almost had a kid with her
@alicevana Being gay is about as natural as watching a koala fly. Faggot is perversion pure and sickening. Sure people can hump ass. if koalas take a run up and jump... who knows? but faggotry is a disgusting fetish like those other perverts who fuck shoes, goats or children
@SixtenBengt LOL I don't know about the surfing culture, none of my friends back home surf, but there is a big rock culture. We have gay rock clubs and one called QnA for Queer and Alternative Music. LOL!
I think you misunderstood davey, when he said that someone 'fanning' an interest in sports he wasn't referring to someone who actually is interested in sports (I think), but that some act like they do to appear different than who they are. I also didn't agree with his video, but that's because he didn't point out one word that gets to the heart of the matter, discreet. That word appears in ads right with 'straight' acting and tells me right away that's not someone I want to meet.
Very well stated, you are very passionate and have a good heart and spirit. Yes we need to stop the internal negative judgment in the gay community it destroys our efforts to achieve true equal rights.
I agree with what you said, was also a bit put off by his comments. I think perhaps, Dave misalligned sexual preference with personal/gender expression. Subscribing!
your argument is totally flawed mate, and your rebuttals are so far fetched its irritating. no offence mate but you didn't come across as very intelligent in this vlog, because you happen to look like any regular guy , hence ur tunnel vision opinions. do u think effeminate and camp gay guys would have shared the same gay experience as you ? NO , cause guys like you put them down *and you said that shit word - choice / preference.. same excuse for - racism, holocaust, genocide etc ..
Str8 acting is just another way of saying that you don't participate in ALL the gay affectations - like drag, or snaps, or bitchiness. It doesn't say that you're not gay. If that was your interest, you'd just say you're str8. I get the argument that being gay isn't an act - it's a way of being - so maybe the right term (if we have to have a term) should focus on behavior. You're right. People should have the right to express what they want in another. We just need a new way of expressing it.
I agree that "straight acting" is a dumb term, only because it's opposite should be "gay-acting" which should mean "Having sex with same gender", while straight acting would mean "having sex with opposite gender." People seem to think "gay" means anything from "feminine", "weak", "girly", "odd", and 'taking it up the ass". The last is the biggest, although if so, then women who let guys fuck them up the ass should be "gay". Gay is simply same gender attraction. I also just use the term masculine
Lol the one about magazines is like the worst logic I have ever heard. He didn't say people hate the fact that they're gay, he says it's because people hate feminine gays.
If I didn't know better, I would have assumed you were straight as well. I wouldn't call you straight acting though because no one acts straight or gay or lesbian, just stupid lol. Nice accent!
I totally agree! Just because I don't act really effeminate doesn't mean I'm not proud to be gay! I tend to have relationships with masculine men, because I find I have more in common with them and plus...they're hot! I have nothing against gay (or straight) men that act effeminately, I have great friends that do, and I love them to bits! We're all just who we are...being gay doesn't effect your personality!
@Enquanto18 I think I need to watch this again, do I say Im - ma - CHORE LOL, oh no Imma-Tu-a-r WOW I have no idea what happened to my accent then LOL
DUDE. Thank you so much for addressing that in your vid. It is so important for us to stay united as a community, but I think people fall too easily into dissecting our own community into sections and stereotypes. Maybe it's because that's what they know and are used to, but really, that doesn't make it okay. And thank you for saying that.
Does the context of "straight acting" not matter at all?
It's always "implied deception this/that". I'm frequently told to stop "acting" like an idiot. Does that somehow mean I'm only pretending to be an idiot and that I should take offense to such a horrendous claim? Take the statement as it's intended; not for an implication which is most likely not being made.
I completely agree with you in this video. ツ I also like the part where you refer to Davey Wavey and poke holes in his video. It's true. I didn't like that video in question. Maybe you should post something about reflecting on how Davey Wavey always goes on about "self love" and "everyone is beautiful" but never wears his clothes and overly exposes his skin to the world. If he weren't as muscular, nobody would care. No content. That's why I Subscribe to you. CONTENT! Yes! ツ
I think other terms could be used so that everyone could feel comfortable regardless of their gender performance. Not just 'masculine' gay guys, but also 'effeminate' straight guys, and everyone inbetween on all axis.
My problem with the term 'straight acting' is that it implies that my gender performance is modelled after someone elses sexual orientation. It is not. My gender performance is the manner in which I interact with the world around me, and is not linked to my sexual orientation except that I feel I feel freer to express a wider arrange of gendered actions because I am comfortable with my sexual orientation.
The problem isn't the word "straight" here, it's the word "acting." In this regard "acting" implies a kind of deception. "Straight acting" means, "I am deceiving you into believing I am straight so I can get you drunk and slob on your knob."
THAT's the real problem with the term "straight acting."
Also, why create new words and phrases when existing words (in all versions of English) will do? "Masculine" is what is meant and covers the situation nicely.
"by masculine I don't mean some big wrestling dude"
That's what is so funny about all of this. John Cena looks like a gay porn star. Gay men are defining masculinity. Some people would say that we always have been the ones to define masculinity. Those statues didn't carve themselves.
"John Cena looks like a gay porn star" LOL his body is much bigger than regular gay porn actors. He may definitely be object of muscle worship, but I've never actually related him with anything gay (only wished).
Cena is a bit tall for a porn star. Listed variously as six-one to six-three; weight variously 240 to 260.
That puts him in the extra large category overall, but not grossly out of reach of some of the bigger boys at Colt or Falcon over the years.
There were guys walking down Castro Street looking like John Cena in the late 1970's, when most heterosexual men in the US were still doing the John Davidson look and professional wrestlers looked like chubby power lifters with big hair.
"There were guys walking down Castro Street looking like John Cena in the late 1970's" Now I get what you meant ;) I wasn't even born back in those days, and I don't live in the states. That was very interesting to read, thanks for the info. I guess you have a better picture about what's been going on in gay culture.
And I don't know much about Colt and Falcon, but of big boys in some Raging Stallion vids. Although those guys are really hairy!
LOL why the long face? I have nothing against hairy guys, I actually like it. I only wrote that because Cena has no hair at all (well only in his head :P)
Excellent vid! I hate the idea of self loathing gay and I agree with you on every point. I have sooo many other qualities about me that I'd say I don't like about myself, but hating myself for the gay factor and my masculinity hasn't come into play for a long ass time. I'm considering making a video response to this vid. You make a lot of sense, we should be celebrating our diversity and not breaking ourselves down.
Davey Wavey is a paid actor dude. He is being paid to say these things INCLUDING advertising for these gay sites he mentioned. Everything that comes out of his mouth is scripted.
I think all gay guys should shut the fuck up and mind their own respective business(es).
Most gay contention always seems to lead to psychopathy, and the older the queen the more sociopathic said interaction becomes. And yes, I know what I'm talking about. **sips hot tea**

I am pretty "straight acting". I Hunt, collect Knives, and Bows. I train MMA five days a week. I love violent movies and horror movies. I drink beer, and buy my clothes at K-mart. None of that makes me less gay. The part of me that makes me gay is the part that loves cock.
arsehatbackwards 3 months ago

Does the gay community except Bisexual men/women
dshutt27 4 months ago
@dshutt27 They do ,but only have one issue and its not with them but since people see people in the gay community that can go back and forth. They make it seem like we can choose when we CAN'T. They are one reason why people always say we have a choice because they are not educated enough to know ONLY bisexual people can do that, I have know problem with them and Im gay.

What i would like to know is why society throws all these LABELS around?
Who gives a fuck, we're all human.
Humans mess around with other humans, or... humans don't. I don't think ANYONE deserves a label at all.

Yes, I see "gay" as a disorder!

butterbread1000 10 months ago
I think gay means being attracted to the same sex. A gay man is attracted to men. You don't have to be a fem to like a man. Straight acting men are attracted to straight or masculine gays. If they wanted fem, they wouldn't be gay. I don't feel the idea of feeling you were born the wrong sex is gay. A man doesn't have to feel like a woman because he is attracted to men.
youthnotlost 10 months ago 2
i so agree with you!
2dboy 10 months ago
Your conclusion is right. We shouldn't be in fighting. I have real issue with people hating on gay guys for acting "feminine". However, I think "straight acting" as a label, perpetuates that kind of discrimination. Everyone is a mix of feminine and masculine acting depending on our social conditioning. Ultimately, I'm "me acting" and that's all that matters.
And to be blunt, As Dan Savage says: "You're f*cking guys, how straight acting can you be?"
majeric 11 months ago 2
Awe Dude, I have to disagree. "Straight Acting" is a reflection of internalized homophobia (or at least garden variety sexism). "Masculine" is a gender construct. It's entirely artificial. Ask yourself the question "What behaviour is distinctly "masculine" where a woman can't be associated with it?"
People claim "straight acting" as a means of differentiating themselves but is the motivation for it? The reason is that they are uncomfortable with associating with "feminine-acting".
majeric 11 months ago
I have never understood the masculine vs feminine thing. I act the way I act. I never hide who or what I am, but I can talk about footy or cars, and then switch to Glee or fashion just as easily. I am capable of having more than one personality trait, thats what makes me a well rounded person. I get really offended when people say "your acting like a girl" or "stop being such a queen. I'm being ME, because thats who I am, and its all I can be..

MictianB8 1 year ago
(cont.) Similarly, a gay man who plays sports and watches UFC isn't any less gay than a gay man who acts in musicals and watches Glee. Neither are they "self-loathing" as many try to call it. They're just being themselves.
Blah, I'm rambling now, but anyway, we should all accept each others' differences. To the guy who made this video, you're a cool dude.
krakenbwool04 1 year ago
The whole "straight-acting" gay guy argument reminds me of the "white-acting" black guy argument. Essentially, there's no more to being gay than being attracted to those of the same sex, just as there's no more to being black than having a different skin pigment. But people like to mistakenly tack a bunch of other stereotypes to those labels. For example, speaking "properly" and becoming a doctor doesn't make someone less black than speaking in Ebonics and becoming a basketball player. (cont.)
krakenbwool04 1 year ago
@krakenbwool04 Um honey you can act Black, you can act White, and you can act GAY. I remember watching videos of myself as a boy wearing wigs, playing with dolls, and acting "girly" or the way our society programs young women to act. Those "gay" mannerisms were innate to my being and essentially is what contributes to Gay Culture. Gay Behavior. As a black man living in a predominantly WHITE society I DO act white. I cut my hair to get jobs. I talk without an accent to impress my whitepeers(cont)
Lablank123 1 year ago 2
@krakenbwool04 Its fucking called assimilation!! A sign of weakness in my eyes. Yes I am WEAK. Weak because I do not express my individuality. Weak because I let societypaints a picture of how black men should act. AND weakbecause I allow society to commend me for "acting straight" thereby meaning superior or the way a man should act! HOW SHOULD A MAN FUCKING ACT?In my honest opinion "Femmes" or feminine acting gays have more balls than I will ever have and I respect them! THEY ARE TRUE MEN!
Lablank123 1 year ago 2
@krakenbwool04 You want to call them a faggot? SO WHAT! They embody the demonized creature and don't give a FUCK what society thinks of them! That is the men I want my brothas to be. I want the gay men out there to stand up, be who THEY are. Love themselves! So fucking what I say "Hay". So what I snap my fingers. So what I play sports and LOVE IT! So fucking what! I love my culture. My black culture. My gay culture. I love you guys because you are my brothers.
Lablank123 1 year ago 2
@krakenbwool04 And when someone tells me I am STRAIGHT ACTING that is the worst insult because I love being me and I love being apart of my gay culture. So please when someone complements you for acting like something you know you aren't (straight, white, black, whatever) please don't take it as a complement or be fine with it because what you present to this world is just your SHELL!
Lablank123 1 year ago 2
@krakenbwool04 They aren't complementing who you are but what you have become in order to survive comfortably in mainstream society. My gay brothers are so much more than a shell. We gays have so much to offer this world than a spiting image of what they want us to be and act. I love you guys (my gays). Please love yourself. So I'm don't with this video commenting crap. If you want to keep talking add me.
Lablank123 1 year ago 2
Don't be disappointed. No one is perfect. Not even gay ones.
People who have trouble with "straight-acting" is still having an identity problem. Not every gay person has to conform to some arbitrary stereotype. The point is to accept people the way they are, no matter what they are.

Lablank123 1 year ago 3
@Lablank123 How is he completely right? Because I just watched his video, and I agreed with almost nothing he said. Also, this video wasn't at all an attack on Davey Wavey, it was someone's reaction to and opinion on his views (which I also find rather invalid and judgemental).
2ndPhyla 1 year ago
I think if you run around in dresses and take on characteristics of a female, then you are the real self-hating gay because you are trying to be a straight woman. The true gays are the ones who like being guys, and like guys who don't want to prance around in stockings. So all the gays who say we are self hating, at least I am not trying to be a STRAIGHT woman....I am one of the real gay guys out there

@TeamOhCanada AMEN!!
ExplorationB 1 year ago
@ExplorationB Straight-acting? AMEN? This statement right here proves Davey Wavey point. Why is it "good" or commendable for gay guys to be "straight acting"? Playing sports obviously doesn't make you self-loathing but commending each other for acting "straight" definitely IS. It's one of the most disgusting things you could do as a gay male. And on top of that, you guys *DESPISE* the gay community? You are fucking GAY!! My god. You guys are lucky I have 500 characters. Absolutely pathetic. SMH.
Lablank123 1 year ago 3
@Lablank123 So you're saying it's wrong for gays to be straight-acting and having others accept that, even applaud them for acting how they want despite stereotypes? If that's what you mean, then should all lesbians be butch and only like manly women too? Also, I doubt they actually ~despise~ the gay community, but they are allowed to disagree with its views on how a gay man should act and what he should like.
2ndPhyla 1 year ago
@Lablank123 The statement STRAIGHT ACTING, proves nothing!! I've watched an possibly even commented on Davey Wavey's video. What he's doing in that video is essentially the reverse of what he's talking about, condemning more masculine men because their not behaving exactly like him. Because they don't conform to a stereotype inflicted upon us by the straight majority.
PS - I'm not the most masculine of GAY men, but Davey Wavey makes me look positively heterosexual.. :D
FoockMeRaw 6 months ago
@FoockMeRaw I'd bet money that Davey Wavey's video came about because he hit on a hot STRAIGHT ACTING guy the night before and the guy shot him down, because he wasn't into screaming queen.. :D
FoockMeRaw 6 months ago
@FoockMeRaw The term straight acting implies that you NEED to prove your self worth to the world, as if being gay is a handicap! I will admit that I DO NOT fit the flamboyant stereotype of a gay male (a great majority of us don't) but I don't feel the need to call myself "masculine" or "straight acting". That's pathetic and a sign of weakness in my eyes because you are INSECURE with YOUR sexuality. Not only that, labels like those further bridges the gap, reinforcing stereotypes (fem or butch).
Lablank123 6 months ago
@FoockMeRaw I'm none of those. I am a human being. A man who happens to like men. I don't NEED a label to advertise myself YOU do. Why label yourself? Why allow society to put you in a box, you're either butch or fem. Then you get people asking these stupid questions like who's the man in the relationship? We both have dicks. Anyways, your stupidity and your need to wear a stereotype lets people feel the need to put us in a box. But Im done I'm not giving this idiot more views or attn 7 mos old.

@ExplorationB Self loathing is when you are apart of a group but you hate that group. This statement in Davey Wavey's video definitely applies here.
Lablank123 1 year ago 3
@Lablank123 I don't hate the group, I love being gay and gays. Davey has a problem with the masculine gender role. Fine, but he is saying if others don't, you don't like being gay.
My main problem is that I don't know why he gets to define what the "group" is and how it should act, Or why some gays get to define how we all is should act....we are all individuals, and we don't have to act the same way...that's not hating the group you are a part of, that's just being individual people.

@TeamOhCanada Same here. I am so tired of ultra-liberal, effeminate gay guys speaking for all of us. Just because I act like a man, am an athlete, hate dance music, etc.doesn't mean I hate myself.
SouLoveReal 1 year ago
I am a man who loves men..."ac straight." I have to be asked by both straights and gays if I am gay or straight. I don't identify with any "label." I can tell you this much, the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Transvestite-Queer-Questioning-Queen-Closet-Private-Flaming-Butch-Femme (LGBTTQQQCPFBF) Community is one of the most devisive. Thus the labeling in the "accronym"... or whatEVER all that alphabet-stew is. They sometimes treat each other as bad, if not worse, than others treat them.

That word appears in ads right with 'straight' acting and tells me right away that's not someone I want to meet.

zecompol 1 year ago
Str8 acting is just another way of saying that you don't participate in ALL the gay affectations - like drag, or snaps, or bitchiness. It doesn't say that you're not gay. If that was your interest, you'd just say you're str8. I get the argument that being gay isn't an act - it's a way of being - so maybe the right term (if we have to have a term) should focus on behavior. You're right. People should have the right to express what they want in another. We just need a new way of expressing it.
sthrnmuscle 1 year ago

I love it and totally agree with all that you've said.

If I didn't know better, I would have assumed you were straight as well. I wouldn't call you straight acting though because no one acts straight or gay or lesbian, just stupid lol. Nice accent!
LODragonJoe 1 year ago
I totally agree! Just because I don't act really effeminate doesn't mean I'm not proud to be gay! I tend to have relationships with masculine men, because I find I have more in common with them and plus...they're hot! I have nothing against gay (or straight) men that act effeminately, I have great friends that do, and I love them to bits! We're all just who we are...being gay doesn't effect your personality!

You put in words exactly how I was feeling after watching "Self Loathing Gays". Couldn't have said it better myself. Nice work.

Your analogy on magazines was actually very clever. I chuckled when you said "immature", is that how Australians pronounce it? :P
Enquanto18 1 year ago
@Enquanto18 I think I need to watch this again, do I say Im - ma - CHORE LOL, oh no Imma-Tu-a-r WOW I have no idea what happened to my accent then LOL
ExplorationB 1 year ago
@ExplorationB I think you say "imma-turr" haha. So I guess it's not how Australians pronounce it. Regardless, your logic is still valid :) 3:03

the porn one I find interesting. I am bisexual but lean towards men (never been involved in a relationship with a woman) but I HATE straight porn!
and that aussie accent died on immature and insecure lol.

I pretty much agree...the bottom line is we're all different and - there are people
who fit Davey's desription (more 30 or 40 years ago) but most don,t and are just
as well adjusted and liking themselves as any other segment of society!
The bottom line - we are all different and seldom fit in Davey's (Or anyone
elses [attempted] boxes) and thats OK!

RichardissoGreat 2 years ago
My problem with the term 'straight acting' is that it implies that my gender performance is modelled after someone elses sexual orientation. It is not. My gender performance is the manner in which I interact with the world around me, and is not linked to my sexual orientation except that I feel I feel freer to express a wider arrange of gendered actions because I am comfortable with my sexual orientation.
RichardissoGreat 2 years ago

Gulfporter 2 years ago
"John Cena looks like a gay porn star" LOL his body is much bigger than regular gay porn actors. He may definitely be object of muscle worship, but I've never actually related him with anything gay (only wished).
sensoriussupremus 2 years ago
Cena is a bit tall for a porn star. Listed variously as six-one to six-three; weight variously 240 to 260.
That puts him in the extra large category overall, but not grossly out of reach of some of the bigger boys at Colt or Falcon over the years.
There were guys walking down Castro Street looking like John Cena in the late 1970's, when most heterosexual men in the US were still doing the John Davidson look and professional wrestlers looked like chubby power lifters with big hair.
Gulfporter 2 years ago
"There were guys walking down Castro Street looking like John Cena in the late 1970's" Now I get what you meant ;) I wasn't even born back in those days, and I don't live in the states. That was very interesting to read, thanks for the info. I guess you have a better picture about what's been going on in gay culture.
And I don't know much about Colt and Falcon, but of big boys in some Raging Stallion vids. Although those guys are really hairy!
sensoriussupremus 2 years ago
Bu bu but... I'm really hairy :-(
ExplorationB 2 years ago
LOL why the long face? I have nothing against hairy guys, I actually like it. I only wrote that because Cena has no hair at all (well only in his head :P)

Excellent vid! I hate the idea of self loathing gay and I agree with you on every point. I have sooo many other qualities about me that I'd say I don't like about myself, but hating myself for the gay factor and my masculinity hasn't come into play for a long ass time. I'm considering making a video response to this vid. You make a lot of sense, we should be celebrating our diversity and not breaking ourselves down.
GayComicGeek 2 years ago
a vid response would be WAY welcomed. I love people getting involved.

Davey Wavey is a paid actor dude. He is being paid to say these things INCLUDING advertising for these gay sites he mentioned. Everything that comes out of his mouth is scripted.
