  • Listening to this in the aftermath of AW death on 08.01.2012...A great loss...the middle section of the slow movement from around bar 43 beginning at 2:42 through the cadenza at the end of the pin mosso is as good as it gets...the fluid grace of the LH passages make this sound like he is really making this up as he goes along...unsurprising considering Weissenberg's interest in jazz....

  • where has this been all my life! truly wonderufl sonata,, becoming a top 3 today!

  • I find this a very beautiful performance, but it is a pity that the videos are not cut according to the movements. I mean, the first movement does not end at the end of the first video, and the third movement begins before the end of the second video (this one)

  • poco eseguita questa sonata ...vi assicuro che e' magnifica!weissemberg poi la porta all'estremo della bellezza ..la cavalca come fosse una sua creatura...peccato che nn si trovino incisioni del compositore...questa e' magnifica

  • I find the first and third movements especially masterly. Do you have the recording of the Second Sonata by Claudette Sorel? She was also a Samaroff pupil.
