Check out the band Shape Of The Rain and their 1971 RCA/NEON Album Riley, Riley, Wood and Waggett. The tracks, 'Yes', Wasting My Time, Patterns, I'll Be There', Castles etc, are really 'Hippie and atmospheric of the time. They have a Facebook Page.
@grungepolitics Are you for real or kidding? Hippies loving everyone are nazis? That symbol is of peace and luck and it comes from india/asia originally. The swastika (nazi symbol) is mirrored and was used by hitler for some reason. Basically he tainted a very old positive symbol, but still, its not nazi from beginning, and is still used in asia for luck.
@GrandeRio01 fuck off cunt if so much better a singing why aren't you sing i front of millions like him. the song is a fuckin anti war protest and the nazi's just used the symbol but they didn't create it it has other meanings
@Deadboots I have seen pre WW2 examples of swastikas set at 45 degrees. The Latvian air force used a 45 degree red swastika on their planes from 1919 until 1940. The swastika has been used every which way prior to it;s use by the Nazi party.
Could some of you people PLEASE get over this "oh they're wearing a Swastika" thing? This symbol is thousands of years old and found anywhere from the Aztecs and Mayans to the Hindus and Buddhists. Much older than some demented fool in the 1930's and 40's.

Not Rolling Stones kind of stuff: not the usual rock n roll sound, but a real blues solid sound. GOO JORMAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@keo774 Jorma's guitar work is the most appealing part for me. Their earliest music was their best, & Crown of Creation was also great. As an early SF Bay Area hippie, I'm loyal!
@SIMKINETICS I'm a very young italian boy, so I can't be a SF Bay area hippie, but I love that kind of music. Actually my favourite J. Airplane album is After Bathing at Baxter's, but Crown is very good too
@keo774 I'm jealous; you saw Jorma. Now, to make you jealous. I've seen Crosby, Stills, Nash AND Young, twice! Better still, I'll see Buffalo Springfield next Sunday; they are the predecessor to CSN & Y, from '66-'68! Buffalo Springfield is re-forming after 42 years just for this gig! They are Stills, Young and Furay. Check them out!
@keo774 The SF sound grew out of the local beatnik-to-folk-to-electric-folk heritage in SF. Beatnks were into Jazz, so the hertage has those roots. It's always interesting where homage to the past is preserved. SF bluesy references distinguish it from Chicago or New Orleans blues. It's a shame to lose those regional distinctions.
@comfortablynumb12345 Transcendentally great! Stills, Young & Furay played exquisitely. Shoreline Amphitheater was packed, it was raining on us, and we all enjoyed every bit of it! The audience was very excited & happy, young & old! They were more like Buffalo-Springfield of 43 years ago than ever, even though that sounds impossible! All acoustic & very real, they played tight, authentic & subtly. It was beautiful! One of the best concerts I ever went to! Far out!!!
You'll notice that Grace Slick, Marty Balin and Paul Kantner never sing a note - and they were the primary vocalists for the band. There are plenty of shots of Grace just leaning against a piano. On her left you can occasionally see Kantner, with a guitar, but no mic, and beside the drummer (Spencer Dryden) you can see Marty shaking maracas. Jorma does all of the vocals in this song. Casady does his usual thing, complete with facial expressions.
When I saw the Woodstock movie as a teenager I'd never heard of JA and that woman in the white outfit onstage made me bust a nut! Who was she? Was she waiting to come on after them? I had to find out who this goddess was. Before long I was feeding my head on the classic JA period. I've come back to the JA again this past year after a long absence & I feel like a teenager all over again. They are the most underrated and forgotten greats of that period. And Grace, that voice and those eyes!
@johnmacbklynusa Jorma Kaukonen is wearing a swastica, but it is also a symbol for the Sun (I think) in hinduism, plus it's the symbol for the finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty, and a part of the finnish Presidential Flag. The Finnish Air Force and Army used the swastika as their official national marking from 1919 to 1944. As you may know, his father was a Finnish American, so I guess it has something to do with his "roots".
Where in the wide world of sports did you find this clip? I've seen just about all there is to hear and see about Woodstock 1969 but never have seen/heard this clip. FWIW, let's get over the Nazi crap and enjoy the music,.

In the swastika on this video their is very little spacing between the arms. So NO this isn't a Nazi swastika. Just because the arms are bent to the right, doesn't make it nazi.
@Koxy85 actually when Hitler visited Spain he was surprised to see many of them and more so to find out that they had been there for over a hundred years
Oh I see what it is, the swastika doesnt nesesarily mean hitler. Its just his religion, it means god it Jehova, Satan, Lucifer, and Christ. Four beings who are all fragments, who all make one god. Weird I was just reading about it.
Jorma, Seig Heil Israel. More bonds more home's in occupied Palestine for God's chosen. For my part I will weep for the Ukrainian's among whom 25% were slaughtered by the nazi's.
Jorma is in fact Jewish and very proud of it. The guitar he is playing in this Woodstock clip was bought and paid for using Israel bonds he got as a kid. If you go to his web site and read his latest blog post (10/12/09) he states that he deeply regrets wearing the swastika at Woodstock being older and wiser now.

Why all the people moaning about a swastika symbol?
I constantly see people wearing the symbol of a brutal torture / murder weapon that the Romans killed tens of thousands with... the crucifix.
