  • Great video. I think I'm a little bit in love with you

  • Interesting you still have that hat! :o)

  • Due to the recent developments in Texas (with the GOP party platform), I am going to share this video on Facebook in order to illustrate just how fucked up the persecution of homosexuals is.

  • Matt/Ash:I must meet you in person one day.I love your intelligent insight dude.Your mind intrigues & continues to amaze.I enjoy your extemporaneous delivery.I'd admit a man crush if it wont get my ass kicked.I'd stored deep in my brain some stuf you shared re Turing but not all that!.Pls keep posting video.I took so much time away myself to pursue my Masters in Media Psychology.I complete in May, Fuckin Finally!Hope your year is great.Often I watch the really old stuff. Best, T. Michael

  • IS THIS GUY SMOKING A JOINT?

  • No.

  • How very awesome of you, Andyy.

  • I give a shit.

  • i wish i knew you bro i listened to your blasphemae test thing and you mezmorized me i need more

  • You need to come to DebateInmendham in Stickam some night dude. We could use smart minds like you.

  • cool ciggarrette douchefag.

  • Impinge is a word and has essentially the same meaning as infringe.

  • I have been to Bletchley Park, where Alan Turing worked, and I have seen his office, as well as the Colossus-- the first programmable computer. Turing's death was tragic, the thing being that BP remained a secret long after WWII, and thus the authorities were unwilling to unveil what he had done for his country even during his persecution for his homosexuality. It is such an irony that the very society that he had helped save was also the one that witchhunted him oblivious of what he had done.

  • Thanks so much for bringing attention to Alan Turing, he is one of my hero's too. When people deny that gay people have had to struggle for basic human rights they should remember that only half a century ago (and even more recently) people were treated like this in the Western world, and are still treated terribly today in vast swathes of the globe. A very touching tribute.

  • It is just a shame that such a beautiful mind was wasted by senseless hate.

  • omfg

  • You don't need to dig back into history to find these sorts of human rights violations. Just visit pretty much any country in the middle east, and you'll find these witch hunts go on in the name of Islam.

  • You're completely right, of course. I guess I expect so much more from the west.

  • BTW,i like your style

  • Thanks. :)

  • ok,I get your point, but what you have to accept is the fact that homosexuality was a crime back then and he could`nt be hailed as a hero,if he was, then everyone would know what he did and as you said, his brilliance was used in the cold war.I totally agree with you that the man was a genious and the biggest war hero of all time.Pleased to say that we have moved on and that being gay is now not a crime, back then the church had more say in politics, thank f--- it does`nt anymore.

    Sincerely John UK

  • I recognize the fact that being a homosexual was illegal, but it isn't something that I am willing to accept. This was the 20th century in the UK; shame on them. Treating homosexuality as a crime is like treating witchcraft or literacy as a crime.

I'm glad that the imaginary crime of being gay is no longer on the books, too, John UK.

  • This video topic reminded me of the movie U-571. Hope all is well man. I had to type in that stupid letter confirmation code in order to post this comment to exceed the limit. The letters are so bunched together that I had to attempt it 3 times until I passed lol. Thanks for this history lesson. It was actually pretty interesting. Cyanide poisoning? That's one heck of a way to go.

  • It's fairly quick; he knew enough about the physical sciences to off himself effectively.

    What is U-571?

  • The statements against homosexuality that make me laugh/make me angriest. I laugh at their stupidity and am angry at their lack of humanity. are the comparisons to child molesters or animals. They don't seem to realize that both of those cases (bestiality and child molesters) are equivalent to rape. If a creature cannot consent then it is equivalent to rape.

  • Yes; enjoying an alternate form of sex than the prescribed, socially-acceptable nature is not the same as (and does not necessarily equate with) performing a sex act on a non-consenting being.

  • Thanks Matt, Good video & great to see you!

  • Thanks; it's great to see you.

  • I never knew that about Turing, but then I typically don't study biographical information. I should perhaps, but I never find the details interesting. Oh and stingrays are awesome!

  • The hate may be religiously fueled but I don't think that's ultimately what persecuted him. According to what, say, "Christian" philosophy is SUPPOSED TO BE (as written), it should not be mixing with politics and likewise politics should not be mixed in with religion which is why they are both on my shit list.

Science/logic is useful only when we use it, not when we are being USED by it.

Science better learn to cater to human interests b4 profit or I guarantee it won't be going much further.

  • That whole comment was extremely difficult to grasp. Are you threatening science? Also, Christian motivations were the sole and primary fuel for the homophobia that destroyed Turing. Period.

  • It's an observation, not a threat. I'm gay and speaking for myself, I do not see the threat coming solely from religion. I used to see it the way you do - then I grew up and accepted the broader reality. It's not a comfortable realization, but truthful. Government officials and their politics love the whole divide and conquer technique because it helps secure, maintain and build their authority. Scientific institutions do not own themselves. They create treatment$, not cures. Let's get sicker.

  • Just having trouble understanding your writing style, I guess. Get sicker? I am not getting it; if science creates treatments, you want to get sick so that...

Ok, honestly I just don't get it. Your writing is completely opaque to me.

  • that's funny.

  • Love it dude. You really need to pump out more of these.

  • I like your hat man.

  • How very interesting, sugar. I had no idea. That's f'd-up. Now, I want to research him.

Just noticing: is YT censoring comments, now? It looks like they're replacing "Fu*k" with "*******".

Hope all is well with you, Matt. You're looking good! *hugs*

  • Fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck. Censorship attempt.

  • Doesn't appear that it is censored to me.

  • Bravo. Seriously.

  • What a great video. I have always heard about Turing and new he was gay but never knew the real story. I love and miss you and Ashley too. I saw her popping around like a ninja in the background there. I'll be in touch. I expect to be here on the 15th and I'd love to see you both.

  • Yep, the government of the UK chemically castrated him. They should have been showering him with medals, and instead they drove him to kill himself after stripping him of his sexuality. Fucking shame if I ever saw one.

So, we'll have to call you and get some concrete plans together. We'd just take the train, but it's quite hard to bring a stingray on a train.

  • peaple have been saying your dead

  • Maybe I am.

  • there's the hat ! interesting story... thanks for sharing that with us...chemically castrated? that sucks! if it were france they wouldv'e used the guillotine.... hopefully obama will honor his pledge. nice seeing you again, you look good... peace2U

  • Great story. Don't know much about Turing so this was interesting to learn about. :)

Was that a pet snake in your hand?

  • Yep. A ball python.

  • Thanks for sharing that story, and I share your outrage.

  • Check out HR 669, it has nothing to do with this business with the exception of the ball python and mention of the ray. Its just something we need to get more public.

  • I know all about HR669. It failed, for the first round; congress needs to honor freedom.

  • They are currently trying to reform it to get it passed that will just be worded a bit differently.

  • That is always the first step on the road to the death of a bill. This really shouldn't be a federal issue, but either way I really don't see it passing. If it does, viva la Canada.

  • You and me both! IMO some animals shouldn't be legal for impulse buys. Personally I like how NJ set up their turtle ban, its illegal to buy or sell them in the state, but legal to own them, so you can buy them out of state, and ship them in and its fully legal but eliminates the "mommy.... can i have a ______" impulse buy. I think the only things that should be subject to this are the larger animals like tics burms crocs and others like them.

  • Great stuff!

It would be great if you made an entire video about homosexuality as it relates to evolutionary biology/psychology.

  • Always good to hear a story about Alan Turing :-)

A personal hero of mine since I'm a software engineer.
