When I received your post I immediately went into my Van folder (265 GB) and played Cassandra singing Crazy Love from the 1994 recording No Prima Donna.Crazy Love is a favourite of my 4 year old grand daughter. He gives me love love crazy love. The first time I heard Cassandra sing the song I went out the next day and bought Blue Skies.

A friend in high school put this on a mix tape for me. It was my favorite out of everything; used to listen to it in the car on rainy days. Even nicer to hear it with older, more appreciate ears. :)

I bought 'Blue Light 'til Dawn' after hearing Cassandra Wilson working with Steve Coleman and the Five Elements & the M-Base Collective. From the opening tune on her CD -- which I believe was "Strange Fruit" -- I was transported, or rather, transmorgrified, to a time where Billie Holliday was NOW. As I kept listening, I was then reminded of the sublime writing and performing of Van Morrison with this rendition of 'Tupelo Honey'. Thank you for posting my past, present, and future

This is from the CD that Cassandra can't seem to equal so far, Blue Lights til Dawn. Everything came together on this one in ways it really never has since. I wonder about the state of her spirit. I hope she is alright. I saw her at the Blue Note in NYC about a year ago. The didnt come across like she was centered in her being. It seems like her kick ass band would have inspired her to new heights, but I couldn"t feel her really present for her own show. She is truly alive on this CD!

This is the song that chose the speakers for me that I auditioned. Took this CD and a couple more to the store and listened to many pairs of speakers but when these played on the NHT's with that bass this song filled up the room and felt like it surrounded me like warm syrup [laughing]. I went home to think about it but I already knew what my purchase would be.
