Superman Returns was YEARS, ago. It's ridiculous if a failed, ~5 year old movie interfered with a successful live-action Superman project in 15 years.

Plus there was a large court fight between WB which own DC Comics and the heirs of Superman's creators. They wanted a piece of the pie, and royalties. The courts ruled in WB's favor. Plus Siegal and Schoster, (can't spell his name right), received back pay or royalties when Superman The Movie hit screens long ago.

Eh. My one huge complaint with it was Lex. They just wiped his memory. Then what, pray tell, was the point of having him on the show? If he doesn't remember anything, he might as well be a different character. Then what was the point of seeing his character develop if he was just going to become somebody completely different that we never get to see? Otherwise, though, the ending was pretty well-done.

Flying does not equate being a hero. All Smallville ever did was make Clark look like a mentally disabled kryptonian who always needs saving. Would have been much more believable if he learned to fly back in highschool. A lot of story plots would have been much better if he had. He wasn't tough, wasn't clever, and didn't have style like Lex. I miss Lex. Vote for Lex Luthor, the real man of tomorrow!

Lord knows I haven't watched ten seasons of this show, but what I'm assuming they were trying to do is show that Smallville wasn't really about grown up and matured Superman, it was about him growing up and into the Superman we know today, hence why they didn't really show/focus on the suit.

I liked that we didn't see the full suit and that we only saw a glimpse here and there. I really don't need him posing and what not in the cape --I would have rather seen a better fight between him and Darkseid though. That was a bigger disappointment than the suit. Still, we got the flight and the vows made up for everything!

@BigFreddieStyle Do you know how ignorant of the mythos your comment is? In the comics, Clark didn't become Superman until he was about 28-29 years old. On SV, Clark is about 23-24 at the end of season 10 when he does. So he's actually 4-5 years ahead of the normal schedule. (And graduated HS at the end of season 4 as well).
They could have modernized the suit a bit more like they did for Captain America's suit.

(stupid caps lock) this show was good cos it injected humanity into an otherwise mundaine annoying character, it showed clark which is why fans enjoyed it. u only have urself to blame if u built ur self up for some awesome superman fight or some shit. they dnt even have budget for tht type of shit.

@alasdair21 the cotton one is the superman returns one. the other one is a shitty cheap one tht the made, its basically a t shirt with a rubbery s on it. the rubbery s i think is so it could be 3d like in returns but also be bigger.

I to was a little bummed that we didnt get to see tom in the full suit,but I do accept the fact the whole point of smallville was to lead him up to it,so they thought it wasnt fully nessesary to show him off,although I wish they did because they will never get another chance again to do it,you know maybe one day we might see him in a movie,but I cant put a point on it that it was rather tom didnt want to wear it,or thats how they wrote it and intended it to be,oh well,it was a fantastic ending

I would understand if they put the suit on through cgi and they did the editing for budget reasons, but they got the actual suit from Superman Returns for this! Lord knows I haven't watched ten seasons of this show, but what I'm assuming they were trying to do is show that Smallville wasn't really about grown up and matured Superman, it was about him growing up and into the Superman we know today, hence why they didn't really show/focus on the suit.

I liked that we didn't see the full suit and that we only saw a glimpse here and there. I really don't need him posing and what not in the cape --I would have rather seen a better fight between him and Darkseid though. That was a bigger disappointment than the suit. Still, we got the flight and the vows made up for everything!

I definitely feel that the fact that producers didn't stood for their fans for the most anticipated moment in the series' history was a betrayal, disrespect and a slap on the face to all the people who were loyal to them for all this time.

@BigFreddieStyle Do you know how ignorant of the mythos your comment is? In the comics, Clark didn't become Superman until he was about 28-29 years old. On SV, Clark is about 23-24 at the end of season 10 when he does. So he's actually 4-5 years ahead of the normal schedule. (And graduated HS at the end of season 4 as well).
