Methadone withdrawals start for me with weakness and then, later, huge gusts of fear, great waves of it, and it is really, really awful, combined with dirty nausea and the runs.. everything is just too much..it is like all one's emotions blare at you, and the weeping [ i am female] is horrid- but i only have myself to blame. I took drugs as a teen to be ''cool'' and then found I really liked the soothing effects. what a fool I was/am!

@davidgrahamscott Yes, like many i thought it was ''cool'', but then my own son, now 28yrs old had a hard life, as a child whose parents divorced, my drug use &c, yet he [thank God] has not taken to drugs, and doesn't find them fascinating or cool, but instead is ''addicted'' to Downhill Mountain biking!- He broke his leg a couple of weeks ago, and despite being in an agony of pain, was not given any opiate painkillers, as consultant said they have addictive properties. Maybe just as well?

my understanding methadone is much worse than herion to get off of. i have heard that methadone actually goes into your bones...

@medini2 Yes it is though I think it's a biut of a myth that it gets into your bones..it just feels like that! It is stored in body fat for quite some time however so hence the long withdrawal.

I am detoxing off 60mg methadone cold turkey starting today (tapered to this over the past year) since I can't afford to pay it any more. I really wish I had the chance at trying that. I know that it is going to be hell in 3-4 more days. IT takes forever for this stuff to start leeching out enough to even get the WDs

True jamie but that camera was not mine anyway. I just borrowed it from a tv company. Been ok since that treatment. That was over 4 years ago. Not pleasant experience but worth it.

i overdosed on methadone a couple times. its no fun. i finally decided to give it all up last months when i almost died of a speedball overdose....this past months has been awesome. its a good day to be sober

Don't you just hate it, methadone withdrawal, is just the worst, to all you young kids out there, that think, this is the magic cure for getting off smack, forget it - just cold turkey it for 3-4 days. Methadone withdrawal goes on for months, its just the worst. From Someone That Know.
