  • Chuck Taylor used to be on WTEV-6 (now WLNE) in New Bedford/Providence in the 70s.

  • Wow! This takes me way back. This was when Louisville was the AAA team for Saint Louis and Nashville was Cincinnati's AAA team. Been a long time. Thanks for posting this. I still miss Chuck Taylor. He was a class act.

  • I grew up with Chuck Taylor, RIP.

  • Do you have the clip of the Indiana man charged with a hit and run death of an Austin Indiana boy that Jackie mentioned at the beginning?

  • I love watching late-70s/early-80s newscasts, for the utter simplicity of everything, i.e. tan walls (with the occasional TV console).

The desks look like something out of an early-80s game show. :-)

  • @tvpirate05 Yeah, but every blasted one of them used "Action" in their title for whatever reason. Kinda like how every news program today touts itself as High Definition and Live (we kinda get the idea that it's live if it's the news =P)

  • In regards to the special report... wow, I can't wait until I can use one of those electronic banking machines myself!

  • i cant wait until they come out with those green and black computer screens!!

  • I sat on that set many a time. Loved Kirstie Wilde -- any videos of her newscast available?

  • There's only one person who could have posted this video! Thank you, Chris!

  • Where exactly is Louisville, in terms of Time?

  • Time zone

  • Eastern time, it's hard to tell the actual eastern/central line in kentucky but the line of eastern and central usually goes about a 1/4 down kentucky then makes a diagonal to the right. It's hard to explain, but you should get the idea.

  • The one Big O Tires was one of the best commercials EVER!

  • call me crazy, but i like watching these old broadcasts, i grew up in louisville, kinda takes me back to when i was a kid

  • That's John Polk of WHAS-AM doing the voice-over for the opening spiel and the sponsor billboard before the opening.

It sure sounded like lots of people from WHAS-AM did work on the TV side of WHAS in Louisville back in the day.

  • You have to love the graphics here. Jackie Hays, sadly, hasn't changed much.

  • Well Done!! (The Late) Meterologist Chuck Taylor was one of the few people that had an idea of being accurate in weather forecasts in the Louisville Television Market ... especially from 1982. A Fat 5!!

  • Ahh...Dave Conrad...best looking toup in the biz. What ever became of Dave anyway?

  • I didn't know why they didn't go straight to Hello but I do like the cuts used on this newscast. MCTYW wasn't that flexible like Hello. Hello had many more theme then MCTYW.

  • The opening of this newscast is from "Move Closer To Your World" by Al Ham from Mayoham Music. All the rest of cues used is from Frank Gari's Hello package.

  • Oh my God How long has Jackie Hays been anchoring? Jeez!

    BTW, UGLY news desk!!!

  • I hear about 4 different news packages used in one newscast...holy crap

  • WOW! Did John Shumway graduate from HS that summer? Haha

  • Thanks for posting this video. Do you have any clips of WLKY and WAVE from 1982. Also, do you have anymore news videos from the 1980s?

  • No video from 32Alive or WAVE, alas. But I do have a few others form that era... Keep watching....

  • I believe the that the Circle 11 was phased in round May of 1982.

  • I also believe that they had a new set the same year or they had a new set a year later.
