  • Where do you get your samples?

  • can you record outboard gear like keyboards into record or is it just for reason????nice video btw

  • Thanks for the information on sampling. it help a lot. peace

  • i bought the software with the money i saved from obtaining food with food stamps. I'd rather that Kellog's go's belly up before propellerhead. fuck kellog's/general mills!. long live propellerhead.

  • @rosamumstarbreeze I don't even know what to say dude

  • @MrCandry in all seriousness though get yourself in school. i see propellerhead and other software companies as pretty heroic for giving student discounts. learn your craft and get off of piratebay and go fill out fafsa, its free. GO TO SCHOOL. you will meet lots of musicians and valuable connections that may rival many shady bonds you make at clubs, raves and other venues. @MrBrandonPeoples this is an excellent and concise tutorial, you should consider authoring instructional DVD's

  • @MrBrandonPeoples on a different note, don't you love it when rappers brag about armed robberies... then subsequently demonize people for pirating/downloading their music?

  • @rosamumstarbreeze They don't teach music to students where i live

  • Someone can tell me if is possible to crack "Reason" for mac because i tried so hard but... Nothing. Thanks

  • @MrCandry by crack you mean you want to steal a piece of software and use it illegally? So that the cost of software goes up for people like me who actually pay for the software they use? Sound immoral if you ask me. But I will tell you how to crack it. Visit Propellerheads website, add Reason 6 to your cart, check out, enter your credit car, submit order and wahla, the software will now work for you. It's crazy how easy it s for you.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples Wahla i tried, but it won't because i don't have enough money in my credit card. And i'm sure that you know that some people crack it and use it, so don't act like you don't know it. Thank you

  • @MrCandry You have a lot of nerve kid. Of course I know people have cracks of this software. I get plenty of comments and messages just like yours asking for my license number or where they can get a crack. Don't forget the demo is free and everything still works in the demo. I know money can be an issue, but it's not a reason to steal.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples Yeah i know man. Thanks for the answer and good vid by the way because, first i was looking tutorial of sampling on reason.

  • ive got reason 6 and i knew it had this capability but i just completly missed it!

you have opened up new doors for me my friend!!

  • good vidz

  • i would have been important to know how you create a audio track

  • this isnt reason 5

  • @MrWerdplay yes it is, Reason 5/Record 1.5 just like the title says.

  • How do you get record?

  • @FlyAsYouCantBe buy it, dingus

  • @FlyAsYouCantBe you can download load it from propellerhead.se (the companies website) or order/pick up a boxed edition from your favorite music store.

  • I'm dont can insert the audio track?! I have press cmd+T ? can anybody help me?

  • @Madex1988 are you using Reason as a standalone or along with record. Reason 5 doesn't have this feature. If you upgrade to Reason 6 then you can create audio tracks.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrwiltz22 google "propellerhead record" or update to Reason 6

  • Wish I would saw this b4 I spent $200 on recycle last week

  • @Andre7414 at least you can save .rex files now. There is a bright side to owning the program.

  • @Andre7414 i got it free

  • @losdodgerz hopefully you didn't pirate it and then brag out it. If you did, we'll see how the world feels about your actions when the company goes bottom up.

  • That's whats up

  • Nice work

  • how come it doesnt give me the option to bounce mixer channels?

  • @OMDitsME1 are you using Record, or Reason as a stand alone

  • This video had me droooling. Loved it

  • @beinglogic haha, I'm glad you liked it

  • You can also chop the samples in the sequencer, right click them and select Bounce Clips to new samples. This places the samples into the unassigned samples folder. Then you can load each sample all at one into Kong, Kong will automatically map them to each pad. You can also do this with NNXT if you have more than 16 chops. There's a youtube video related to this one.

  • @romelled I know this, thanks for mentioning it though. I actually have a updated version of this video called Sampling Redefined that includes this method

  • @ MrBrandonPeoples thank you bro this video helps alot and saved me sum doe.....

  • @916eyezlow no prob, glad to of helped man

  • how do u save it when your done and can you use it in reason btw i have reason and record on mac

  • @InPhamouzProductions the audio files are saved to what ever file you bounced them to, by default they are bounced to your desktop in a folder labeled "Bounce." you can then import them into any sampler or program you want to.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples so i am in reason right now and i have my chopped my sample into 8ths and they are assigned on the kong drum designer , how do i take my chopped samples into reason ......

  • @InPhamouzProductions I"m not sure what you mean, if you are using your samples with Kong then you already have them in Reason.

  • So are we limited to just 4 layers with the NN Nano? I can't believe there's not a button there to add more layers and just put all those samples on just one drum.

    Dean.

  • Kong doesn't appear for me in record how do i get it in record?

  • @BaronDMc do you have Reason also? or just Record.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples I also have reason

  • Great tutorial but after all that would i be able to pitch them incase they don't match my tempo?

  • @ooProduction adjusting the pitch won't change the tempo, it changes the pitch (depending on what device you use and how you go about doing it). If you hold option(mac) you can timestretch the audio tracks to get it to fit into your tempo.

  • @TheFamousHipHoper wait, are you using Reason as a standalone? because Reason doesn't support importing audio files yet. You need Reason and Record to do this. Next month when Reason 6 is released, the two programs will combine though. So for taking so long to reply. I didn't get an email notification.

  • Great video! Just what I needed.

  • @uncurledbeast4 sweet! let me know if you need help with anything else. I'm totally open to help.

  • you are the man been try to work out that piece of shit nano and was about to smash my mac up its all good now

  • @dutchog1 haha, I know the feeling man, glad to of helped a bit :)

  • @MrBrandonPeoples

still have all kinds of problems like when i use the on screen keyboard the rex or what ever has all different levels ???????

    p.s thank for the links

  • @dutchog1 the onscreen keys has a set velocity, so the velocity doesn't change no matter how hard you press. You could try adjusting the velocity on the onscreen keyboard or double click the notes you have already recorded and adjust the velocity in edit mode.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples do you think its could be a problem with the program its self cos when i use my mpd its fine.

Also ive been using reason since v2 and i actually thought 4 and 5 sequencer is the worst thing anyone has ever done hope 6 is better

  • @TheFamousHipHoper you can convert it to a .wav in itunes or download a converter program.

  • @TheFamousHipHoper it has to be a .wav file, not a .mp3

  • that's neat

  • how do i stop the loops fromplaying out if i only want to play the loop while holding the pad down.play hits not the whole loop

  • My bounce mixer option is greyed out?

  • How to insert audio track?

  • @BEATINGBOX pc= CTRL T

    mac= command T

  • is it easier on this then recycle...? i just have reason 5

  • @chuy25 i'm not going to say it is 100% easier but it is a time and money saver. With Recycle you have to export and reload. If you do it in Record, everything is self contained. If propellerhead allowed drag and drop capabilities, then I would by Recycle, until then, I don't see a point in buying it. Save you money and get Record.

  • would you be able to play these samples on your midi keyboard ?

  • @aikamayz yes you can, you just need to load them into the NN-XT or NN-19 so that they map out to your control and you can play them that way.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples Thanks very much this video helped me

  • @aikamayz no problem, glad I could help

  • kill bill

  • how did you know the songs tempo? does record have some type of beat mapping that auto detects it 4 you. if so then fuck recycle i will buy record today

  • @PhillyBornBRpro no, I played the song through a media player such as iTunes, switched over to Record, turned on clicks, pressed play, and taped til i matched the beat, you can also google the song like this "what is the tempo of (insert song here)" and it will usually come up.

not to disuade to you recycle, but you can do everything you can do in recycle in record, just in round about ways. If you have recycel by it's self, you'll have to load samples into devices, and can't have audio tracks.

  • @MrBrandonPeoples thanks for the insight, i guess i'm hating on a friend with the mv 8800. anytime he loads a sample it maps the tempo and breaks in down to the loop size you choose. that seems to be the 1 area that reason will not advance but i still love the program!

  • @PhillyBornBRpro depending on what kind of file you have it will do this. certain song files contain data that allows Record to recognize the original temp and adjust to it. Sorry I never replied to this! it was never sent to my email, I reply to every post.

  • How the fuck do you create an audio track...

  • @NotebookTracks windows= CTRL+ T mac=command+T

also not you have to be in Record, not Reason as a standalone program.

  • Gotta question here :)

Idk why but i cant manage to import a wav file into reason 5.

It tells me that it can only work with midi files?!

Do u know what could be wrong?!

  • @derkokks you cannot load a .wav file or audio file at all into Reason 5, you have to be using Record 1.5, but your could load the file into the NN-19, and play the entire file as a sample. when doing this remember that the original file will be located on middle C unless changed, because samples change the playback speed in order to achieve a different pitch, so C will be your original speed/pitch

  • brandon whats up ...my question is...why didnt you just sample in the kong ?

i dont have reason 5 yet..so im trying to learn as much as i can in the mean time..thanks...couldnt you have edit the sample in kong...?

  • Hey, I have a question. How can you use this and get the effect of not having the pad trigger another loop over the already playing loop, and get it to effectively cut the playing loop short, as it starts the new one? Thanks.

  • @highawareness Kong should automatically load that way

  • @MrBrandonPeoples Nah, for me it will play the sound. But if I press another one, the two sounds will overlay each other and compete. I don't want that. Any idea on how I can get it to "cut" when another sound is triggered?

I would think it was something with the pads hit type, like I have to change it to toggle on or off. I'm pretty sure I can do that in rex loops, but I don't know how to turn it into a loop.

  • Hey - nice videos!

One comment though - you can do this a lot easier without having to bounce to audio files. Just select the clips when you have sliced the audio file and right-click, select 'Bounce clips to new samples' and the samples will show up in the song's sample list, ready to use in Kong.

    Keep it up!

    /Tage, props

  • @PropellerheadSW thanks man

  • I feel you with the "not having time". I haven't had time to really dig into Reason 5 and Record since the upgrade. I was totally unaware of that particular technique. The assignment takes a second to wrap my head around but once I try this I think it will make more sense. Thanks for the tip!!!

  • @jlee713 yeah, time is tight, but that makes me appreciate the time I have alot more

  • ok thx i thought u needed one to work with the other but it makes more sense to buy them both to have more to work with thx tho keep bringing them videos it brings me clser to purchasing reason/record

  • @entyce66 yeah, Record allows you to import wav files, has a built in mixer, Neptune pitch adjuster and more, so when you have Reason, you get all that plus the wicked synths. Thanks for posting your questions!

  • good stuff ayyy do you need to buy reason5 and record together in order for the programs to work or can you buy them seperate thx

  • @entyce66 yes, each program works separate, but if you only have Record, then the the synths in the rack won't be there, Reason 5 alone is a computer synth, but when you use Record, Reason is integrated with in it if you have them both installed on the computer. But yes, they work separately

  • Keep up the good work.
