  • does anybody know when this great and awesome piece was recorded?

  • @richardadugyamfi

    Leipzig 2003

  • High quality performance ~ Great!

  • 350 años de nacido

  • I guess to put it simply, it takes a genius like Kuhnau to produce this music, but it takes a person with god given talent like bach to produce the music that he created

  • Why compare it to Bach's? This isn't Bach's masterpiece, but it is a wonderful predecessor--a bit of foreshadowing, perhaps.

  • This is very pleasant, but not amazingly complex. It's like Bach without the genius.

  • It's certainly much less complex than Bach's Magnificat. But I greatly prefer listening to this one. Its genius is its accessibility, which makes it a more successful Magnificat for devotional listening, IMO.

  • Very good point. There is certainly beauty in simplicity, especially if the work has meaning for you beyond artistic or aesthetic value.

  • @ScurvyOaks seriously? This is charming, yes. But Bach's genius to me always makes me have a greater appreciation for the almighty.
