It's certainly much less complex than Bach's Magnificat. But I greatly prefer listening to this one. Its genius is its accessibility, which makes it a more successful Magnificat for devotional listening, IMO.

Why compare it to Bach's? This isn't Bach's masterpiece, but it is a wonderful predecessor--a bit of foreshadowing, perhaps.

This is very pleasant, but not amazingly complex. It's like Bach without the genius.

Very good point. There is certainly beauty in simplicity, especially if the work has meaning for you beyond artistic or aesthetic value.
