  • Jesus H. Christ! Look at that gaping hole when the bag's closed! That bag would fill up with dust like crazy!

  • Great video.... Got me to buy 2 things from "your Bag" The actual Tenba bag and the dolica tripod. Great Video sir.

  • well my friend... it appears you have NOTHING for low light. 2.8 is'nt always fast enough. might wanna grab an 85 1.4 or something

  • @daplaydohman sorry for the late reply, but honestly, I have found that with lightroom 3's NR I can get away with high isos for the pictures I print and the people who see them. I'm not doing weddings or seniors anymore and am just shooting controlled environments. We, the photographers, always see either the best or worst in pictures, but the viewers seem to just see the picture as a whole. People who do not understand the finites of photography never nit pic details unless its REALLY bad

  • Do you think that the Nikon 90D is good? I was thinking of buying it.

  • @B7571 its amazing! the af motor isn't as fast as the d7k or 300s but it will most definately keep up with them in almost every other aspect. again, just pick a camera body and add nice glass, thats where your gonna see the difference, also grab adobe's lightroom 3 for noise reduction. itll make the d90 look like a d3

  • @elliment18 Thanks! :)

  • is the 18-55 the cheapest version or the nicer one

  • not bad not bad at all... ive been wait on someone to put a video up of that 11-16 i was thinking about buy those 3 lenses in that "pro" range but the early reviews where not that good.

  • @photoboy2005 yup, honestly man, unless you're selling your photos to magazines, don't jump on the brand name band wagon. They are the perfect lenses, but unless you got some cash, the quality just is not worth it. The tokina 11-16, tamron 17-50, and nikon/tamron 80-200 are the cheap mans 2.8 pro line.

  • @elliment18 well accully they have stopped making one of them ... i was wanting the 11-16 16-50 and 50-135... ive been shooting for 7 or 8 years now, and i find myself shooting in that range the most... the first DSLR i bought was a d50, and then i got a D80, and i when and got a 18-135 the next day, and it stay on my camera almost always unless im shooting macro or portraits and then i change lenses ... and you said you have a D90 right?

  • @elliment18 i would say its tokina 16-28 tamron 28-75 and sigma 70-200 if you would go full frame :D

  • WoW!! SHITT!! that tripod is Just 40 bucks!!!

  • i want to get into amateur photography with a low budget what would you recomend i start out with

  • @owltronics On a low budget, honestly, try the new canon powershot sx30 is or Nikon p500. Though you won't be able to push the iso much, itll give you every focal length available to see what you wanna shoot and its shape and speed is extremely similar to dslrs. Again, the only real difference is the sensor, youll just be missing out on low light shooting and some of that bokeh you get with nice lenses. Let me know if this is something your interested in or not

  • @elliment18 thanks yeah thats about my price range right now im thinking i will probably ge the nikon p500

  • @IAmYoursBee camera bags are unatractive as it's quite clever to have casual looking bag which is in fact camera bag to avoid any trouble on the street or in certain circumstances. Check Domke bags, first what you probably notice would be their simplicity, but believe me or not - they are very flexible, doesn't look attractive and you can carry a lot of equipment in F2 or less in F6. Anyway I wouldn't buy camera bag which is shiny with huge sticker like 'hey! here i have 10k $ in equipment. :)

  • whatsinmycamerabag . com HEY PEOPLE CHECK THIS NEW WEBSITE ESPECIALLY FOR WHATS IN MY CAMERA BAG VIDEOS, START UPLOADING THEM SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE TO LOOK, SPREAD THE WORD

  • BUY A THINK TANK BAG FO YOUR NEXT STEP

should torn the AF light OFF

  • i started with canon sx10 point and shoot, then got a nikon d90, 18-105 kit lens and 60mm f2.8 macro (good for portraits and amazing macro) it depends on what sort of photography you like, now i got a 50 f1.8 (perfect) and a nikkor 55-300

  • i started with canon sx10 point and shoot, then got a nikon d90, 18-105 kit lens and 60mm f2.8 macro (good for portraits) it depends on what sort of photography you like, now i got a 50 f1.8 (perfect) and a nikkor 55-300

  • I have the exact same tripod and i absolutly love it 100%

  • @IAmYoursBee agreed, now that i have sold my equipment and went with the Sony NEX system, i still have the bag for school purposes

  • If its on a tripod you turn the vr off anyway.

  • Tenba is by far the best messenger bag for pros=D

  • this vid is awesome!, im an amateur photographer, and im thinking of getting a nikon d3100.. would you suggest that camera?

  • @0MysteryHistory0 heh, my advice comes from experience but you will probably dislike. But spend as little as possible when your starting. Grab a crappy point and shoot and work on your positioning, composition, and lighting. Any camera can take a picture, its the photographers that make the picture worth looking at. Using a dslr is great for fine tuning your camera, but without mastering the basics, your just another person with an expensive camera. Use the camera you have and send me a video.

  • @elliment18 thx for the advice, but ive actually, been a photographer for a year and a half, using a crappy point and shoot - nikon s630. i feel that its about time to upgrade, but i could be wrong, and i actually do have a few vids of my photography on my channel, plz tell me what you think of them, i value ur input

  • @elliment18 by the way, i dont dislike that advice, it was the exact same advice i got a year ago, when i wanted to get a big camera then, too, ty :-)

  • @elliment18 ty for the advice, bt thats the same advice i got two years ago when i started, ive been using a "crappy point-and-shoot" for a while know, and i think its time for an upgrade

  • @elliment18 Thank you for posting a sensible response. Too many people focus on the equipment, and nothing on the technique. I really respect that.

  • @0MysteryHistory0 nikon d3100 is an awesome starting out camera.

  • I have the large version of this bag, and it's such a great design, I can't find any other bag to upgrade to. The larger Tenba messenger camera bag doesn't hold all my lenses.

My only thought was to attach some kind of large pouches to the sides, but every pouch I find has horizontal bands like the bag. As far as I could see, Tenba doesn't make anything to attach to the sides. Any thoughts on this?

I'm looking to hold a flash on each side, about the size of an SB-900.

  • @Barbiesex I guess I use this bag for events, not traveling. Thus I only bring whats needed for the shoot which normally consists of my d300s, 80-200, and 17-50 with my sb-600 and vertical grip.

  • i really don't think trying to focus with a lens cap on shows how fast the autofocus is.

cause it's not focusing, it's just wandering.

  • Nice kit you got there :) even though i shoot canon :P

  • How much did u pay for this stuff?

  • would you recommend the 80-200? i shoot a lot of sports and am looking into it? what exactly does a push/pull mean? do u not turn like newer lens? is that a problem for you?

  • I bet drumming in a band got you laid a lot more than landscape photography does....

  • @elliment18 The Dolica is $24.99 is on Amazon right NOW! in case you wanted to get a second one!

I have the Sigma 18-200mm on my Alpha and LOVE it as a daily carry around lens. I like having my 18-55 range for everyday use the rest is just great to have just in case. I found my 70-210 F/4 beercan too heavy and limited to carry daily and since I'm not a wildlife photographer I'm not missing much with a 18-200. Considering getting a 2X convert to carry too.

  • Yeah, at f/7.1-f8 the 50mm/1.8 is the sharpest lens I've ever used. I'm sure there are other lenses as sharp, but it is TACK sharp at those stops.

  • 80-200mm was a good choice.

  • quick question is there a big difference between the Nikon 70mm-200mm f2.8 and the Nikon 80mm-200mm f2.8 cause the price difference is a really big gap between these two lenses

  • I've been struggling with bags sooooo much. I've bought 3 off the shelf in the past 4 months and found all to be poor imitations on what a shooters bag should be. At the moment I'm using a sling which is OK but it's design forces me to sling from right should to left hip, which puts the camera at the back and being taken out with the left hand....it's really awkward.

I want to make my own bag but I don't know where to start. Did you buy that insert off the shelf?

  • Dude, that's awesome! I'm a drummer and photographer with no money either! ahaha

  • @willtheweird same here. been shooting for about 10 years and now i just started drumming.

  • nikon sucks

  • The 18-55 Kitlens with VR is a good lens, its pretty sharp, VR works great, not a macrolens but it take good close-up pictures..

VR is something i miss when i bought the 17-55 2.8

  • Is your small lens a fisheye?

  • Ever think about getting the Nikon 300mm f4 AF-S and then getting some teleconverters? I hear it's a stunning lens and remains sharp even with the tc's.

  • The focus on the TAMRON 200-500mm is absolute CRAP

  • Instead of the 11-16 what do you think about the sigma 12-24f/4

  • ive got the newer sigma bigma 50mm-500mm and I love it -- sharp all the way too f/5.6 470mm

  • Hi

I like your observation on the Sigma 150-500 and the problem with sharpness at 500mm. I take wildlife and use the Bigmo and find some days I get really good shots and then there are days the performance is crap. I've talked to a couple of other photographers and they also get that sweet sour performance. I use F8-9.5 a lot and really have to work at getting sharp images. Have you tried really fast shutter speed to measure the difference?

  • whoa whoa whoa did you just say your 18-55 was sharper than 50 1.8?

  • @Byocfduck lol, good point, let me rephrase that, my 50 1.8 was less sharp because it had a back/front focusing issue that caused a majority of my shots to be out of focus at anything lower than f 2.8, thus, when getting the 18-55 it had a maximum apperature of 3.5. This, in my mind at the time, made me think it was sharper when it was just a focus error. With the d300s, I can fix that issue with micro tuning. The 50 1.8 is a sharper lens but only at 2.8 and 4 (amazing a f 4)! thanks!

  • @elliment18 surely the way to remedy this is to use manual focus?

  • I have the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 and love it!!

  • I think you should've just gotten a 2x tele-converter for the 80-200. You would still have the awesome glass and you would get a 160-400 f5.6 and saved a shitload of cash. That's what i did. Great gear and video man. Oh and I care if it's the small edition because I'm looking to get the same exact bag lol!

Do you have a website or something to view your pictures?

  • @paintbasstard I looked into a 2x tele-converter but because i got the non af-s version, i would no longer have my beloved autofocus. I suck with manual focus so that just wasn't an option for me. I plan on upgrading to either the af-s version or the 70-200 vr soon so that this will be an option for me, but until then, i get to suffer. Thanks for the comment though! Btw, I'm upgrading to the large edition b/c I just got a d300s and the small was too small.

  • @elliment18 OHHH! I see.

Congrats on the D300s!! I have a D300 with the battery grip and I just found out the hard way the small is too small T_T idk if I should return it to get the large or hump it out with the small. I have a Nikon D300 w/ grip, Sigma 70-200 f2.8, Sigma 2x tele-conveter, Nikon 18-105, Nikon 50mm f1.8, Extra battery for grip, an SB-600 speedlight, dust blower, and all of my wires, accesories, and manuals. IS that too much for the bag? lmao

  • I like your reasoning. I wonder about the bag. My lenses are pro f2.8s with wide diameters, 77mm filters. The bag looks like it might hold them, but I'm not sure.

    Good luck in your work.

  • haha, this reminds me of the makeup gurus "what's in my purse" type video.

    photog edition.

  • Great video! I just got a Large Black Tenba Messenger bag and can't wait to try it out.

  • Nice video. I like the way you pesented this one. I have 80-200 D 2.8/F. It is an excellant lens which came form my film camera days. one decade old and still going strong. It is not sealed againt dust. I am also having tokia 11-16 mm 2,8/F super wide angle. It is good for landscape and groups. This one is excellant lens.I am thinkig of going for your type bag

  • @jaydoc40 very cool, thanks for the comment! I'm actually thinking about taking the plunge to the d700. Hope that beast will fit in the bag! lol

  • hey what sleeve is that? im looking to purchase something like that for my messenger bag also. thanks

  • @vickooompas sorry mate, thats the sleeve that came with the tenba messenger bag

  • What is the model of the Dolcia Proline Tripod?

  • @sepah50 Dolica AX620B100 62-Inch Proline Tripod and Ball Head; thats the exact name on amazon

  • Hey thanks for the video. I have a Nikon D3000 since its been a month since i started photography. I'm into taking macro shots and was looking for a good macro lens. Theirs so many lens and reviews that I just cant decide! Do you happen to know a good macro lens which will be great for close-up and also would be good for taking regular photos and scenic shots? Thanks

  • @sepah50 actually, since it looks like you are on a budget with the d3000, I would highly suggest a 50mm 1.8 with a reverse mount. This mount would make it so you would be using your 50 backwards. When stopped down all the way (often need good light or flash), you can get some awesome super macro shots. The only problem is you lose autofocus and you have an extremely small dof. Very cheap macro for $120. Otherwise keep the 18-55. If you wanna spend $, snag a 100mm dedicated macro.

  • @elliment18 I bought the d3000 only since my friend recommended it to me since I was just starting out but I will buy a better camera in later months. I've heard about the Nikon 105mm, Sigma 90mm and some other good ones but I have on clue which one to get! You probably have more experience so do you know any specific lens with would be good for macro and regular portrait and scenic shots? Thanks again

  • @sepah50 sorry mate, didn't mean to dis your camera or anything, the d3000 is an awesome starter dslr for the price. I will now and always recommend nikon products for nikon equipment. Simply the best. Its like buying a bike, do you by a cheapy from Walmart or do you get one that will last for 3 times the price from a dedicated dealer. You get what you pay for in photography and i suggest the 105mm nikon. Better build, sharper, faster, built in motor, vr and great nikon support service.

  • @sepah50 also, i don't recommend a 105mm macro for portraits unless you have A LOT of room to work with (aka outside). Indoors you are gonna need a big studio be 105mm worth of lens away from your subjects and its a really tight frame for scenic shots. If you kinda want an overall great lens, and wanna fit everything like that in one lens, I would suggest the Tamron 28-75 or 17-50. I know its tamron and the build quality blows hard, but its one of the sharpest lenses plus perfect range for u

  • @elliment18 You sure do know your cameras and lenses! The tamron's sound good to be but is their any lens that can go longer in terms or zooming and length and still be able to take good macro shots and be used for regular use as in scenery and nature ? Portraits are not important since i barely ever do anything like that...

  • Hi are you able to wear this bag high up your back like a bike messenger bag?

  • I really need a tripod, and recently found the one you have on amazon. Are you happy with it? Is it sturdy enough to support a Canon Rebel XTi with a 70-200 f/2.8?

    Thanks!

  • @mipodstuff absolutely!!

  • ive been looking for a battery grip and i like yours whereed you pic it up at

  • hows the battery grip i was thinking of getting me one but the price difference with the nikon made one kinda made me cautious so was just wondering if there are any major cons about it or any limits on its capabilities thanks! great video too!

  • @cung9193 DON"T BE FOOLED, this battery grip is so nice that I now prefer to hold the camera in portrait just because it feels more natural. This thing is beast for the money, unlike lenses like I was telling dk2893, this battery grip is an exception. Buying off brand in this situation was a dream come true! I would highly recommend this battery grip over the Nikon version, HIGHLY! Its very durable, screws in tight, its just perfect.

  • @cung9193 Check out my review on the Zeikos Battery Grip for the D90. I love mine. I completely agree with Elliment. Buying off brand is not a big deal with the battery grip. Check out my review for my opinion.

  • Great Equipment... Little confused about the 18-55, but anyway i have a question on the 150-500 would you recomend that one or the the sigma 50-500? I really don't know which on to get. Help me out. thanks

  • Ya, i no longer own the 18-55, but if its between the 150-500 and the 50-500, i would definitely go with the 150-500, seems much more sturdy. Ive played with the 50-500 and there is just too much distortion at either extreme and Sigma fixed some things for the 150-500. However, i believe a new 50-500 came out by sigma, if that is true i would go that route if the price isn't to drastic

  • Thanks for the tip. What did you get to replace the 18-55 and why did you get rid of it??

  • thanks for the help I really appreciate it. since you said that it was so sharp why did you get rid of it?? I'm also looking at the sigma 70-200 f/2.8 can you give me your thoughts on that. Thanks

  • @dk2893 I got rid of it cause i wasn't using it; and thats a huge waste of $1000! The sigma 70-200 is another playing field. I was up against this decision when I needed a sports lens as well. But with my experience, when you buy Brand Name like Nikon or Canon, you actually get quality too, its not just for the name. I'm sure Sigma is great but let me tell you, when I got my NIKON 80-200, it was like going pro, I would save up and get the good stuff, you'll appreciate it in the long run :-)

  • hey Elliment,

i know you have stated this alot, but i just really want to be sure, (i am order online so i can't test it) i have a nikon d80 with a battery grip and a 70-200mm 2.8 (i also use a 50mm 1.8, and 18-70mm) but the d80+battery grip+70-200mm weights the most do you think the ball head can support all that weight?

  • It has absolutely no problem supporting a d90, battery grip, and a 80-200 2.8 lens. So even with the extra weight of the vr and extra length, it should still perform just as well. I even pushed down on my lens at the tip to see if it would hold and it had no problems. Hope you enjoy!

  • I believe the specs indicate it can hold 10lbs, i haven't found a combo that this tripod cant handle

  • i use d300 ,16-85mm vr and 70-300mm vr, was thinking bout the sigma 150-500 but have been put off by the countless issues and sharpness problems, ive decided to stick to my plan and save for another 8 or 9 months and get the nikon 500mm f4 vr, nice vid and info !

  • lol, probably a good idea if you can do that, thats not an option for me. Have fun shooting!

  • Hi Elliment,

Just wondering, how does your tripod hold with the 80-200mm 2.8? Can it withstand the weight? And how tall does your tripod raise up to?

    Thanks!

  • Hey sorry for not getting to you right away. Ya, it works just fine, holds it like holding air. As you can see in my previous post, its a 62 inch model.

  • What's the name/model of your tripod? Now that some time has passed, and you've had a chance to use it, what are your thoughts on its performance?

  • Dolica AX620B100 62-Inch Proline Tripod and Ball Head

It works GREAT! The only problem is the ball head isn't quite as precise for close up photography (ie. if your zoomed in and tighten the head, it will move down a little). This is only a problem for macro or close up photography with a big lens though. I use it mostly with my 11-16mm. The legs are super fast and it has a perfect weight so that its light enough that you can't feel it but heavy enough that it won't blow away in the elements

  • Im so Jeallousssss....

    I want all of that..

  • Its soooo much cheaper than when I bought all this stuff, the D90 has plummeted in price as well as the Tokina 11-16, you can grab the old style 18-200 for around $600 and the 80-200 for about $900. Start with the d90 and 18-200, you can make good money and its a wonderful start to making professional artwork with your camera

  • very nice well thought out gear.

  • thank you very much

  • Nikon 18-55 3.5-5.6 is IMHO quite shitty lens. I got it as a kit lens for my first DSLR, the D40x. It's all plastic(including the lenses and bayonet), very light, feels quite cheap, when focusing, the front end rotates, and the image quality ... (but maybe I just got the "wrong" piece:).

But even thought these flaws, this lens can take a lot: I managed couple of times to slam it, against the table, doors, ... On my last vacation I even dropped it on the rocks, but it's still working just fine:)

  • ya...I decided to get the new 18-200 back, sold my sigma, twas a difficult day

  • Nikon 18-55 3.5-5.6 sharper than the prime 1.8?? That is a VERY bold statement. Have the Tonika as well

  • I can't say its better as I had back focusing problems, can't compensate for that on the d90, need a d300 or higher, would love it back if I could compensate

  • very nice presentation man ! and awesome gears you have !

  • I am impressed bro...i like it. specially what u said about 18-200...now I am thinking of geting what u got...

  • Thanks! Now, the 18-200 is a wonderful lens, its the best convenience lens that I ever owned, however, I have found that specific lenses out perform the Cover-all-grounds type of lenses. If you do get one or all of these lens, upload them and let me see them

  • what is better now ... the tamron or yours? i cant anderstant you ^^

  • talking about the 500?

Sigma - vr, feels solid like nikon 80-200 2.8, af speed faster

Tamron - Lighter, feels like the 50mm 1.8, slower af, costs less, suppose to be sharper

  • Good call, the Tokina 11-16mm was definitely my favorite lens for the D90, I have since got the D700 & Nikkor 14-24mm which has slightly better image quality but costs 3x as much and is 3x heavier.

  • great video !

  • do u get alot of money in photographer

  • to be honest, if you can find the right people yes, otherwise, I have been offering loads of free shots and have been working as a photographer for the school newspaper for free. But, if you can find a specific type of photography "portraits" "landscape" you'll soon find there are demands for such pictures and you can create a business almost anywhere and make ~$50,000 in a small town working out of your house. Just got $100 for seniors and I asked not to be paid. Good Luck!!

  • Where can I see your pictures?

  • Nice Kit bro.

I m saving up for the following gear.

    -D300s

    -16-80mm

    -70-300mm

    -10-22mm

But seeing you kit, helped me a lot.

    I 'll check the tamron

    once again nice vid

  • good to hear, looks like I'll be going back to the 18-200 and keeping my tokina 11-16mm, the wide angle is too much fun to sell. Plus, I heard a rumor the Nikon D400 is coming out this spring sometime so ill be saving for that, might even get the 50 1.8 again so I can adjust for backfocusing with the d400

  • I am sorry. Talking about the Bigmos.

  • Hey I have a D80. What is the 35MM equivalent on the zoom? More than 500mm correct on the DX's?

  • Nikon has a 1.5x crop factor on their DX models meaning that a 500mm would be equivalent to 750mm!

  • on a DX it's a 225-750mm!

  • dude, why dont you have a 18-70?

  • lol, to be honest, i found that the for the photography I am currently doing, I am going to sell my Tokina and 18-55 and go back to the 18-200. I am a press photographer so I need a one lens solution again. 18-70 is an awesome lens, guess I just couldn't justify the cost. Thanks for the comment!

  • well done, i used to have same camera with 18-200, than i sold it like you and got d300s+ tokina 11-16 2.8 and prime 35mm 1.8.

  • why dont u get a 2x teleconverter and sell ur sigma. u can save a lot of money.

  • because as far as I know, you can only put a 2x tele on a lens with af-s if you want to retain your autofocus. If you know anything otherwise, PLEASE let me know!

  • oh ur right. i just assumed u have the af-s version. my bad.

  • to use a X2 you need F/2.8 or a bigger apperture or your AF will not be fonctional...

  • You're a PC enthusiast as well, ehh?

[Looks at the Thermal Take Box at the back]

  • lol, yup, i bought a gateway desktop for the looks, found out the insides were crap so I modded it a bit, :-P, Thanks for the comment

  • mannnn you sound like Napoleon Dynamite

  • lol, uh, thanks?

  • how much can you get the battery pack i cant get a good battery

  • the battery pack I bought was the Zeikos (spl?) battery pack. It cost me $50 off amazon however it does not come with a battery for the d90. It is just a hollow plastic holder that does come with a AA battery holder. With that you need 6 AA to power the camera. The grip holds VERY nice, I actually prefer holding the camera in portrait mode because it is that comfortable, I just wish it had a directional joystick to mess with the autofocus point, Thanks for the comment!

  • Why the hell did you buy the 18-55

  • Nice video. I reccomend looking

into the Nikon grip for the D90. yeah, you pay more for the big name, but the

difference in quality is significant. As for sharp lenses, if you want look into Nikkor

12-24, and Sigma 10-20mm. All the best.

  • What size Tenba is this? I thought you mentioned it was the "small" size but wasn't sure. If it is the small size, it sure is roomy!

  • Yup, its the small. The Large actually can hold a 17" laptop and probably just enough room for all of this stuff plus a couple flashes. The small should be called "normal". And the large should remain, this isn't a small bag. Thanks for the comment!

  • sweet video btw!

  • are the colors a bit warmer with your 150-500? heard sigma has that issue on some of them just wanted to know if you had that issue

  • not really, my only issue has been with initial softness at 500mm, which ISN'T that bad, just gotta work with it. I just had to stop it down to f/8 and get a nice hoya filter for it and ta da, all better. Granted it would be nice to shoot wide open, but at this price range, I'm happy. Also, you might want to know that after a while it has issues focusing wide open at 500 on continuous auto focus, it will focus, but won't lock. Overall a 9/10. Thanks for the comment!!!

  • Do you carry the Tenba to school with you every day?
