  • Its as relevant today as it was yesterday- things that we want seem to be just out of reach per our courage to reach out and grab them... yesterday, we were just kids- today, we are adults with the money to obtain our dreams, but without the courage...

  • Everyone likes Bob Seger, even the thugs and hustlers of today are not above listening to him.

  • @TheRealMatrix1 i agree with that..im a rapper n i always listen to the bob

  • So very good! Thanks!

  • 14 people wanted to be mentioned in a comment about 14 people disliking this video

  • I have a bar I go to in Paris TN called R.J's and I always have to play this song while I'm there. Just fits the atmosphere. But in my head I sing Down on Brewer Street. It's like our mini Beale Street. Thank you Seger for keeping it soulful brother.

  • I've lived with this song for (I can't believe!!) 35 years and it's as fabulous today as it was in 1976. From one of the all time classic albums. Totally brilliant.

  • @MACHAWK123 I am that exact age too and your right this song is a classic...makes me cry though...its about a street in Ann Arbor, Michigan

  • @ckotcher1 You are GREAT!

  • good times growing up listening to this

  • omfg just got the album i wanted of him, i remember when i was 8 and parents went and followed him on tour for 8 days and i stuck with my aunt

  • my mom say this is the song her all way like to listen to when she was 16th

  • The topless gals in Fla loved this song!

  • Night Moves is one of my favorite rock and roll albums of all times. Every song is good.

  • It amazes me to some extent the different world that existed on Main Street Ann Arbor, MI in the 60, 70 and 80's. Like Gun'n'Roses of the 80's L.A. and how different that city was then. My dad and uncles and cousin used to infest these old clubs on Main St. How have times changed.

  • i remember back in the mid-70's I "snooped" for Christmas presents for the first time in my life. I found a shoe box with 3 tapes in it...yes they were 8 tracks. Kiss Rock and Roll Over, Boston Dont look Back and Bob Segar and the Silver bullet Band. Each Christmas eve we were allowed to open one gift and I went strait for the shoe box. I held it up to my ear and said "It sounds like a Bob Segar tape. I got my ass whipped. Thanks Mom and Dad for turning me on to the good shit!!

  • no, 14 people never danced with anyone at the old proms back in the 70's...duh...

  • 14 people got hit by a car on mainstreet

  • Favorite Song

  • Truly one of my favorite artists. Im only 17 and this is my kind of music from growning up to it from my parents. Bob Seger is just an amazing signer and composer. No one will ever be as good as him or anyone else from the old days. Music now a days is fake and ridiculous.

  • The soundtrack too my youth. 1983 and 84, southern Indiana,. me and my friends, my best friend and his sister (Who was the first girl I ever kissed) . Hanging out, cruising, killing time and being young. those were the days, and this was the music.

  • E flat so sweet

  • my middle brother literally wore this album out the summer before he died. it's the eve of his death 1977 ... and this was his favorite song. i'll always remember. it moved him. so ... in honor of...

  • @pz2112 Sorry about your brother, man. I'm sure he's kickin' it back in heaven :)

  • Main Street is by far one of my favorite songs by Mr. Bob Seager....its even better in concert (; God i love Bob Seager (:

  • Main Street, Bowling Green, Ohio.

  • Mainstreet: Bad Axe, Michigan.

  • thank's audui4you this song meke me so sad, for the message, and fatlard5776 is great your comment, without words for this song, thank's god and youtube we can enjoy this music.

  • Flushing, MI mainstreets

  • This song puts me in such a good mood, I can hardly even explain it.

  • something about this song just transports you back to a time and place that was high school, hanging out with your friends, knocking down a few cold beers on a summer night....it's as if this song takes me there every time I hear it. Bob Seger just does that with his music.

  • Main Street? Ann Arbor, Michigan USA!!!

  • @MagicGary1960 Long lovely dancer? A Black woman in Ann Arbor, MI, USA, per the "album" cover of his cassette.

  • best guitar riff ever

  • this song is the best.

  • great song just a great song!

  • Brutally honest lyrics, awesome lead guitar, chokingly soulful vocals. Trademarks of a classic. Thanks Bob. Nice work Pete Carr.

  • You must have had a decent DJ, I asked a DJ to play this from Seger one night , and he told me he never heard of it , he just got done plying old time rock n roll, Go figure?

  • @samlo098 now thats funny

  • When I used to bring all the chicks up to the apartment above a garage I rented, I used to play this album. Many, many memories.

  • HERMOSA CANCION NUNCA PASARAN DE MODA

  • HERMOSA CANCION

  • I, too, never get tired of hearing this song. Love it!

  • Maybe his best 70´s song. Did Bob grow up in Ann Arbor, Michigan?

Amazing that so many great musicians came from that Detroit area.

Motown was maybe the greatest to come from America.

  • And the loser`s

  • i always considered this song about a exotic dancer, especially when he sings "watch through the glass" strip bars along mainstreet in many cities

  • and the losers!

  • DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER NATHANS BAR IN DENVER? I HAD JUST GOTTEN DIVORCED AT 21 AND FELL IN LOVE EVERY NIGHT THERE AGAIN.

  • brings back the good old days great song for a great time

  • Super de belle chanson J`adore Bob Seger

  • Bob Seger at his best !!

  • Always takes me back to the club in Lawton, OK in the late 70's....

  • I never get tired of hearing this tune....and I hope I never do

  • Those late lazy nights in Covina... Hi, Lisa

  • This reminds me of a topless bar where I worked as a disc jockey in the 80's in San Diego. It was on Main Street outside the 32nd. Street Naval Base called The Cop Out.

I had a crush on one of the dancers and would walk her to the door when she was done work then watch her walk up the street on her way home.

  • 13 ppl got lost trying to find Main Street.

  • I'm too sober to enjoy this song like I have before

  • great song

  • THIS IS A TOAST TO ALL FRIENDS TO EAST COAST , WEST COAST WHO ARE ON MAIN STREET....

  • This song reminds me of times with my brother the best man I know I miss getting drunk with him and hanging out

  • It's 2011. I may not have been born when this was released but the likeability of music like this never fades, and it says a lot when you can write a songs that make people feel the same way they felt decades ago.

  • Sturgeon Bay

  • how damn beautiful is this track

  • Ok. I play guitar and It's this guitar lead VS. Edmund Fitzgerald. Which one is best? Its close.

  • @tomeeeee1 That's a toughie, I'll get back to you. The trouble is that The Edmund is so emotionally charged, but, for me, this is too.

  • C est super comme slow...Main Street..Quelle beau souvenir un must...

  • ann arbor is the street downtown here lol

  • I remember the place and the time where I met Mainstreet girl, Sault. Ste. Marie Michigan.....with a black and white tiled floor.....going back soon.......memories and so divine........thank you!!!

  • @zedlaxx i live 2 hours from there in the upper peninsula

  • really diggin dis song, used to live on a street called mainstreet! takes me back to dem times!! classic shit rite here!! j-rok frum 3rd block!! we got next!!!

  • Takes me back home small town usa

  • This is about his hometown of Ann Arbor and its about a club pool on 4th street but mainstreet sounded better to him! Im from Ann Arbor!!!

  • Main St. Your main obsession. The road that is the main point of your life where your mind always ends up walking through. The girl you think about all the time. You don't know why because honestly, she really isn't your type and you know it. But you're in love with her anyways. And it'll never happen.

  • mainstreet...where the adult entertainment lies....get it now?

  • love this song

  • saw bto and seger in concert in the 70s

bto could've stayed home and they were

    the headliners, lmmfao

  • Certainly one of his best song. Really Good song.

  • This song hurts the heart so much . We've all made it alone down on our Main Street.

  • my mainstreet in the seventies & eighties was rue st Catherine in Montreal there was many little club downtown and so many long lovely dancers ahhhhh.... ....the good old days whish i was youg again... Bob's best for me

  • Ever have a song that symbolizes a moment or special time in your life? Well, for me this song is the anthem for slow summer evenings sitting in front of our firehouse watching the people drift by. So many nights I've done that as a volunteer firefighter, and for some reason this song just sticks in my mind that way.

  • 10 people got lost on there way down on mainstreet

  • i used to hear back in my country when i was little (El Salvador) didn't know what it was saying.... felt in love with the song.... and now i hear and understand the melody... and i still love it... "music is the international language"

  • Colbert bump

  • @fatlard5776 Colbert sent me too! Beautiful melody in this tune

  • Gorgeous. Just brilliant. A great American artist.

  • Down on main street.............good song, makes me feel like i'm traveling in a desert that never seems to end.

  • Anyone who doesnt like this song is obviously very shallow young and stupid!

  • that 10 has not been on mainstreet

  • This really makes me miss my daddy..our relationship hasn't been the same these last few years. :(

  • Who doesnt love bob seger? He's such a great artist!

  • amen gdub999tube me neither

  • I remember standing on the corner of main & centre many many nights, w/" Scrouz" just living and having a fuckin' good time not hurting anybody!!!

  • fell in love with this song when i first heard it on the radio

  • I first heard this song in my Geography class, believe it or not. My teacher would often play music for us in class, and he has a great taste in music. I wasn't looking forward to entering his class because a lot of people told me he was an ass. But I liked his class. I discovered a lot of other great classic songs I might have never heard otherwise, like "Moondance" by Van Morrison. Anyways.Love the song. It almost has an eerie tune, like the ending credits to a catastrophic movie or something.

  • I got the live version on my channel Possibly his last show ever!

  • @Haxer4life1980 last show? did he retire?

  • @sandmangeorge93

Some speculation that this tour was his last. He wrapped up with the walmart shareholders meeting in Arkansas before they all went home. I hope he continues on but only time will tell!

  • Good song!

  • The ten "dislikes" are probably people who, indeed, do love the song and they just want to be argumentative. I mean.........seriously..........who WOULDN'T love this song? No offense to the hearing-impaired, but, you'd really need to be deaf to truly say you don't like this. This is classic American music at its finest. Brings back a ton of fond memories, too!

  • loved this since 1976 - what an albun night moves is

  • BEST SONG EVER!

  • most chill song ever!!

  • This past saturday I went out and at the end of the night after the bar closed I was able to hear one more song from the DJ... Out of all the songs in the world this was the one i chose "BOB SEGER MAINSTREET'. I danced all alone in the middle of the dance floor holding my drink up like the statue of liberty lol.. It'll go down as one of my crazy nights. AULANDER NC WOOT WOOT!!!

  • @dwhitndonna i would have been singing right next to you my friend!! :)

  • @dwhitndonna I could google it... but where is Aulander NC?? im in CLT

  • @the3warb4me Towards VA

  • @dwhitndonna Holy shit, Aulander. I'm glad someone lives there haha. The population is like 900

  • This is one of his best. Love the Allman's "Melissa" guitar answering the chorus. I love any Bob Seger song that doesn't make me think of Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

  • I'm a hip-hop fan, but this song is so awesome. I just saw Bob Seger in concert and this song was easily my favorite.

  • I'm a huge hip-hop fan, but Bob Seger and his music in general is so chill. From my opinion, this is his best song. I just saw him in concert and it was actually pretty cool!

  • This song reminds me of zortman Montana.

  • you guys amuse me.

  • this song was made in port aux basques there was lots of them out there lots of loney people out there

  • I went to high school from 1980-1983, and this music was still fairly young then. This is one of the best songs ever, and it takes me back to a very special time when the world was not as fucked up as it is now. Great memories. Thanks Bob!!!!

  • CLASSIC R&R

  • this song just soothes the soul.

  • I grew up in the sixties in peoria illinois ,Main street was fill on a saturday night with beautiful cars, pretty girls ,hoods ,jocks ,no bodies and was an all america street that everyone loved .memories forever!

  • Amazing song...it touches me on a deep level.

  • My dad owned a gas station on main street in a small town in New Mexico. Good times, pretty girls, and a simple life style. That is what this song reminds of.

  • According to Bob Seger from his greatest hits cd, this song its about a street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Im more inclined to believe that.

  • This song makes me smile sometimes and cry sometimes

  • @mgm340 i know exactly what u mean....

  • co za azy

  • Havent we all been down....on mainstreet?

  • @judeyorke Considering there's a Main Street in almost every city and town in America, I think most of us have been on Main Street before, possibly stuck in traffic. Good call. ^_^ Despite its obvious flaws, this is still one of Bob "Over rated" Seger's best songs, though, along with the stripper joint song, "Her Strut", and the country boy song which is so fun to say, "Kat-man-doo!".

  • @19torento

you're an idiot. if Bob Seger is overrated, then stay off his videos. That is absurd. So so so stupid man. If you hate it, don't come one here. If it is overrated, then why comment on it?

  • @AaronLM527 Whoah! Scary! Take a chill pill please and let me explain myself. I think some of Bob Seger's songs are pretty good like Her Strut and Katmandoo, but I don't think his consistency is that great, so I think he's kind of over rated for having only a few songs that I would consider really great. And that's just my personal opinion, too. You can't be an idiot for having an opinion, because opinions can't be wrong, like I respect your opinion that Bob Seger is a good musical artist.

  • @19torento

You're right, you're entitled to your opinion. Don't call him overrated though. In my opinion, you might need to do your research before you count Bob off. "Her Strut" and "Katmandoo" are both great songs, but far from his best stuff. Check out Turn the Page, Roll Me Away, Night Moves, Like a Rock, Main Street, Beautiful Loser, Still the Same, We've got Tonight and many many more before you knock him off as overrated.

  • @AaronLM527 I've been paying more attention to Seger on the radio, and he's got some good music. He just isn't one of my personal favorites. Besides Her Strut, which I've got to admit is bad ass, and Katmandoo, which's so down home country it's awesome, I like Main Street, Night Moves and I don't think anybody's mentioned Hollywood Nights yet, which I also think is good. Being a hard core rock fan, I tend to be very picky, and I rip on certain artists, which might accidentally bug some people.

  • @19torento

Old Time Rock and Roll by Seger is #2 on the list of song most played on Jukeboxes, it was voted one of the greatest songs of the 20th century. He wrote a lot of songs too (Heartache Tonight for example, sang by The Eagles), Bob Seger is legendary, no matter what your opinion. I might as well add Hollywood Nights, In your Time, and You'll Accompany Me to the list while I'm on the topic

  • @AaronLM527 I'm not a big fan of the Eagles either, so I don't care if he wrote for them, but Old Time Rock and Roll and Hollywood Nights are both good songs. You're making me remember a few of the good Bob Seger songs I've forgotten about. I've got to admit Bob Seger is a lot better than a lot of other classic rock groups. I'd consider him somewhere in the middle when I compare him to other rock groups. I never said he was bad. I just said I thought he was over rated.

  • @19torento

You don't like the Eagles?????? And you think Bob Seger is "somewhere in the middle," so we will just agree to disagree. I'm just curious, who tops your list? Give me a few.

  • @AaronLM527 I like hard rock and blues rock a lot more than soft rock. My favorite hard rock groups are Aerosmith, Saliva, Van Halen and Guns and Roses. My favorite blues rock artist is Jimi Hendrix. Even though Ozzie Osbourne is a douche, I like his music. Too bad his music wasn't made by somebody else, because it really rocks. My favorite kind of music is rock, but I like soul music, too, like Diana Ross. AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Foreigner and Def Leppard are good, too, but. Van Halen's my favorite.

  • @judeyorke ya i had some my best times on mainsteeet lol woow man this like going down memory lane

  • @judeyorke had a lot of good times on mainstreet wonalot of money playing billards to this song wooooow talk about memorys where does the time go

  • @TheBomberman54 Your point? I dont think Bob Seger was a KKK member

  • @31guitar makes me like him even more

  • @Teph87 Bob Segar being a KKK member makes you like him?
