I'm a complete novice whose just recently taken an interest into vertical axis wind turbines. Would you recommend windblue for a beginner?? I'd like to learn more about off grid energy and have been doing alot of studying, however I keep getting "mixed reviews" in different turbine generators.
@tegf4 I don't work for wind blue so I can't speak for them but looking at the numbers you posted being a electrician I'd say the voltages are open voltage and the amp's is dead shorted. That would be the way those numbers make sense tegl4. But it cant produce both those number's when hooked up to a battery reason being is as the volts increase you batteries take it in but keep a steady voltage.
You say your volts are 48 and amps are 32. That = 1,536 watts! That is about 2 HP. Do you have a 2hp motor on your drill press? Something's not correct. I think you amp meter is set on mA not amps. That would make the amp .032 amps. The Windblue 540 is good but puts out about 48 volts with no load at 600 rpm and the windblue only puts out about 10 amps under full load (dead short). You may have 100 watts! G EdwardCook
@GEdwardCook . You can see what the meter is set at. The drill press is a delta drill press from my father's machine shop. 1.75 hp electric motor with many different rpm/torque positions for the belt.
I have a windblue alternator on my VAWT. I"ve had it up for almost a year now and it's still going strong. I highly recommend these. You can see my VAWT here.
Thanks for sharing that imfo Tom, I have thought of getting a wind blue for a while I think you just helped me make my decision, and the price aint bad. Those are some great amp #s, take it easy bro,LATER FROM THE WEST COAST
I dont understand what the big deal is everyone using old GM alternators. Are there no better designs?

Not wise to run a dynamo without cooling fan.

How's this been working out for you?

these specks are not quite right
540 = 500rpm 8a x 41v 750rpm 11a x 70v 2000rpm 15a x 350v = 5250w
520 = 500rpm 12a x 20v
512 = 500rpm 16a x 12v
500 = 1000rpm 80a x 9v 10000rpm 150a x 100v
This is from Wind Blue web site.
I am looking to buy just a electric generator Looking for the best.
If any one could help Please do, Thank you.
