in Blender 2.49 the hotkey is now Shift + I and to undo it is Alt + Control+ I. These hotkeys must be apploied in Pose Mode.

if your using 2.49 use auto IK in bone menu

You must do it in Pose mode. If you also have an updated version of blender, like 2.49, the shortcut is Shit + I, as the person below me said
