@Binboy97 because they are the same, Ottos and Sulos and ssi Scheafer and a few plastopans (osgs in australia) In the early 90s a lot of bins were imported here.
Where was this footage shot? This neighborhood looks quite familiar like the Elmwood district, east of Telegraph Avenue, south of UC Berkeley. I grew up in Berkeley, lived near the Tilden Park Golf Course. I moved seven years ago to the PNW still nice to see places where I grew up.
@TheTheo58 you know, I have tried using google maps to find the exact streets I filmed this on, but I cant find it no matter what I tried! I cant even for sure guess the general area it was as the streets all look so similar! Glad to bring back a few memories.
Really nice truck here, green and yellow looks awesome! What's the deal with the high, low, high, low revs around 2:20... truck's computer couldn't make up its mind? haha Sweet footage!
@rws676 these tippers can tip any cart lol. These carts were purchased before standard Amrerican carts were popular up here so they used the comb lifters in the early to mid 80 when they began service. They kept it that way till today. The funny thing is these arent auto carts, they were only designed for semi auto collection in european countries and were imported and the method was adopted in NorCal.
@r6man2 I got a tiny bit of Richmond Autoreaches (I was unhappy to see they got rid of there old curbtenders since Republic bought into them) some WM Oakland M/ASL and this. In the Lodi area we got Wittke and Leach Crocoldiles
Nice work! Sounds like a friendly crew. Better than missing the truck altogether eh? Enjoyed seeing this, it's funny how the Euro bins have caught on a little bit in the bay area...
@Trashman242 there EVERYWHERE! except in San Fran. though lol most of these areas went carted in the mid 80s which is why. These ottos are from 1986 and the Sulos from 1991 as are many more ottos.
@Mike3141981 nah, they use that to go down tight alleys or to go ahead of the truck to dump several 30/20/13 gallon carts into it then dump it once rather than 3 little cans to save time. very efficient too
Interesting find. This truck sounds like its got a sick (literally ill) pump motor. Good work. If you ever plan to cross the bay into San Francisco, I can give you ideas of some good routes to follow.
@ACX009 We were in San Francisco shortly after I filmed this however we didnt find any trucks working. Well we saw a mini msl collecting public trash but thats not easy to film at all so we couldnt manage. We went to the yard and thats where I saw my first Lodal in person, but not operating :( Im back in SoCal already so I wont be able to film there anyway, but thanks!
@tharealsteven Nah, they have had Ottos and Sulos and such in the past but are now buying US style carts from Toter since there not imported and these tippers are compatable with both comb and US style carts
@RainbowDisposal dont worry, we were at the yard and there buying toter evr2! and they comb lift them! they have the clamp marks on the bib and very little catch bar markings. The rehrig phase was short lived :)
@IWS15 these cart have been in America almost as long as they have been in Australia and European areas there just not as popular. Up here in Northern California they are EVERYWHERE. These carts in this video (that say OTTO on the front) were all made in West Germany in 1986! They also have Sulo which are not found often here in the US.
Look like bins you would find here in Australia.
