  • Looks like the insurance companies and wall street's investment in Obama paid off, big time! Mandatory customers for the insurance companies (punishable by fine and/or imprisonment for not buying their product) and free money for wall street, at the expense of our and our children s financial future. Could a corporation buy a better candidate?

  • I think you could have been elected if you didn't file for bankruptcy ... since if Gravel got the Democratic pick he would have had my vote...

  • george bush was the best

    jk

  • I lol'd.

  • Just 80 corporations funded the Republican Convention. The DNC got 61 MORE corporate contributers!!! WTF! How could they accept that dirty money? And here they are talking about how they're the party of the middle class.

  • Private money, expected to exceed $112 million for the two conventions combined, will pay for an estimated 80% of their cost. As of August 8, 2008, 173 organizational donors -- overwhelmingly corporations but also several trade unions -- had been identified on convention city host committee websites.

Oh yeah. did you also hear about the party at the DNC AT&T held for the Blue Dogs after selling us out on FISA and giving them immunity?

  • 141 corporations gave money to the Democrats for the convention. They've given the DNC 159 million since 05, compared to just 99 million for Republicans! That's 60 million more from the "party of the worker." Makes you wonder, doesn't it? It doesn't say "Private executives" giving the money as perhaps liberal Republicans who like Obama's stance on the war and abortion. These are entire corporations donating money to them b/c they think Obama will be pro-business, not pro-worker. It's a sham.

  • ...

    idk

  • Well Hillary is 95% lies Obama is 90% lies and Mike Gravel is 99% truth.

  • lets not forget about ron paul ;)

  • he is a CRACKHEAD. he's assuming because his contributions are 500 or more theyre coming from lobbyists? So random people cant afford 500 dollars. Why the hell would banks give Obama money he's a democrat they would rather give to republicans because reps like big business. And the democratic party is making more than the republican party because nobody is gonna vote for republican this time its pretty much certain that dems are gonna win. This mike gravel guy needs to stop spreading stuff.

  • I think you answered your own question mohkou. You asked "Why the hell would banks give Obama money he's a democrat...?" and then your very next sentence ends with "...this time its pretty much certain that dems are gonna win."

Think about that a moment, and respond.

  • maybe hes right and there is a government conspiracy

  • Not a government conspiracy... There isn't a government conspiracy he is stating the truth: the truth is that our political system is owned by the rich bankers it has been that way since 1914 and the big business are for democrats just as much as republicans. In the current political system though there is no real difference between the two. Anybody who isn't a democrat or a republican is a radical third party who doesn't have a chance.

  • that is absolutely true, you should look up ron paul! libertarians want the government to be small, a republic, and taxes to be small, preferably zero. i stand for what the founding fathers did, and they would be turning in their graves in they saw what we're doing now

  • xmattycorex: the founding fathers would be turning over in their graves because we let women, non-whites, and non-property owners vote. And that slavery is illegal.

In other words, fuck the founding fathers.

  • HOT DAMN, im voting for him!!

  • lol im so embarrassed on my comment on your new video lol. maybe i should lok at all sides lol. i did'nt check these other videos. :D

  • Mike Gravel is out of the presidential primary race.

  • Part of being a "politician" is that you have to be full of shit a majority of the time. It shouldn't surprise anyone. Just because Obama is the new messiah doesn't mean he's immune. As recent events have shown. Unfortunately our Mr. Gravel here would have to lie his ass off as well, if he were really in the game.

  • Geez im out of the loop in politics who is this guy? He has his shit together and why cant I vote for him

  • I hear he's now running under the libertarian ticket, though frankly many of his ideas aren't so libertarian, but whatever. Check his website if you want more information.

  • America needs Mike GRavel as President YESTERDAY! What a tragedy that the majority of Americans allow the woll to be pulled over their eyes, in favor of "happy" propoganda on major corporate(wall street) owned media. It's just very sad.

  • wow... thanks for telling me

    obama, clinton, big no nos.....

  • Mike Gravel holds a Masters in Economics, He worked in Counter Intelligence and Declassification for the military during the Korean war. He returned and got work as a taxi driver later he drove to Alaska and worked in real estate and a railway break-man during the off season. He then was elected to congress, later the house elected him to Speaker. Finally he was then appointed to the senate...where he then released the Pentagon Papers, Filibustered the draft...etc. I can't fit this in 500 words!

  • Last time I checked, the US was a capitalist nation. So, investment bankers on Wall Street should be free to give money to whichever candidate they think represents their interests. Is it so implausible that a candidate can represent both the interests of an investment banker and a janitor? I think not. Mr. Gravel is also blurring the distinction between a lobbyist and someone who works on Wall Street. For starters, an investment banker lives in NYC and a lobbyist lives in Washington, DC.

  • Check again. It should be a capitalist nation, but it is now a corporatist nation.

  • A corporatist nation would be one literally controlled by corporation(s). While I do agree that corporations probably do have a little too much influence, I wouldn't go that far. Plus, under CFR law corporations themselves can't really make political donations. So we're talking on the individual level here.

  • Goddamn Mike! You are the man! You keep kickin ass and takin names and I'll be right behind you all the way!

  • The Democratic Party used to be... yes it did. And it hasn't been since Mike Gravel left the Senate. Kick the carpetbagging DLC/Demoblicans out of the party and nominate Mike... or forget the DLC/RNC/Demoblican/Republicrat Complex and start investing your time, however much it takes, in a 2nd party. An opposition party. One that will represent we the people. But let's try to snatch back the existing machinery of the so-called Democratic Party first!

  • The DLC is the reason we won back Congress, so don't be too hasty to criticize them. Although I don't agree with some of their positions, without them Democrats are the perpetual minority.

  • "We" won back congress? How can you tell? "They" won "back" congress... makes no difference to we the people. The wars continue unabated. Our Constitution continues to be degraded. There's not a dime's worth of difference between the Republicrats and the DLC Demoblicans.

  • Yeah, I bet you're really representative of the average American. Hell, according to your profile you live in Thailand, making you an ex-pat. So don't give me that "we the people" crap. The reason for the continuation of the war in Iraq, is the current president and his constant threats of veto, not the Democrats in congress. And the last time I checked, the Democrats were a big tent party, accepting of variety of people.

  • "Big tent", eh? You mean "don't give me that we the people crap".

The reason for the continuation of the war is the desire of the DLC Demoblicans for it to continue. See Mike's "US Armed Forces Withdrawal From Iraq Act" for the ways and means.

And that's from the horse's mouth, not from an "ex-pat"... is "ex-pat" like an "Islamo-fascist" in the DLC leixon?

  • A) I'm not a member of the DLC, I'm a liberal who disagrees with a fair number of their policies.

    B) Are you even registered to vote?

    C) Ex-pat mean exactly that. You're an ex-patriot, a citizen of the United States who lives in another country.

    D) See countless news stories entitled "Bush Threatens To Veto Spending Bill That Includes Withdrawal Timetables"

  • Mike Gravel -- The candidate with a backbone not a bloated corporate funded bankroll. You want politics as usual, there's a gaggle to choose from. You want a principled leader ready to enable us to take back our country, support Gravel -- he rocks!

  • If not Ron Paul then Mike Gravel two great men.

  • he should have pulled the paper out during the debate!

  • hahahahhahahah....

  • i love gravel, obama hillary edwards, sucks ass. crooked politicians...

  • gravel isnt supported by any wall street money

  • I like this guy. He is at least entertaining. He makes too much sense for the Democrats to vote for this guy. Hillary will be the Democrat nominee and she will lose in 08.

  • I love how he had the damned newspaper with him, and just started pointing stuff out in it. Whatever happened to, "some have said"? Lol.

  • Oh man, he's carrying that around in his jacket pocket? Wowzers.

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • Gravel is awesome. Though he could be talking about how rain is wet and he'd still sound crazy. Delivery goes a long way.

  • Everything he said was completely right, but he did kind of sound like the crazy homeless guy downtown when he said it.

  • LOL-you guys just don't get it, this guy isn't crazy. He's trying to tell you the TRUTH.He knows the hypocracy. It's a rigged game. Gravel & Kucinich are the only Dems not controlled by the same people that control the top Republicans candidates. Vote Ron Paul or these two guys or get more of the BS we get now !

  • Hey Jamie, Gravel seemed a little agitated. Do you think he was stoned?

    Get it, Gravel/stoned???

    LOL!

  • hehehehe!!! That was great!!! (I'm also really easily amused).

  • A lot of people seem to think my sense of humor is lame, but like many great artists, my true genius will be realized after my death!

    : )

  • Gravel definitely was one of the few things in the debate that really tried to rock the boat!

LOL! Too bad there wasn't more questions to someone like him, then the debate might have been a lot more interesting!
