Dreams of Life. is a wake up call to me. Did some one say how Did She Get Herself Into This? I don't think she did. Life happens some times you fallow your dream or dreams which has a few miles called isolation may be that's where Joyce was when life as we inhabit it ceased to support us. I like who she is.
Read about this film in the newspaper today and had to search for Joyce Vincent. Reminds one of The Great Gatsby - all the parties and fun but nobody really knows the host or the other guests. Hope Joyce's rests in peace.
like many people who give the impression that they are stable and on the right path at some point in their life, the minute they start to slide downhill, it's very easy for them to slip through the cracks of society and be forgotten about as people will always presume they're fine.
@netscapepizza that's actually the answer to the riddle.. She obviously didn't become that great in her late days, great burden perhaps, that's why she was simply written off. It strikes you a key question when you first start watching the film but towards the end it turns out to be the key answer... What's really tragic is that this story happens everyday not far from any of us. People die alone within themselves and never discovered or mentioned.
no...none of that is the answer nor is it right. this shit should NOT happen and you shouldnt go around saying it does. there is another answer to what happened and yours isnt it punk. so say you're sorry and move along.
the answer is most likely...is the fact she had no friends and no living relatives that she was in good standings with so no one would question it. why would anyone question it? dont ask about people's personal stuff, unless asked. back in high school, if i stopped going to school...no one would go to the principal and asked where i was. they would assume i just went to another school. same with adult life...maybe she just got a new job and moved.
yes she does she was a real person she did die how unreal the story sounds she is real and the whole film was made from information from people she knew. she knew many famous people and lived a like of mostly happiness and mystery she was a real person
@ 1.50. EEEEH, THE CHEEKY SLUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SWITCHING THE GREAT LA FEATHERSTONE OFF AT THE TELLEVISION !!!!!! KNOW YA PLACE ,YA COUNCIL TENANT BEETCH!!!!
This film is a must see... Saw it last night and it's very deep and thought provoking... I can somehow relate to the person as I'm quite mysterious to others but as Nipponda1 said, "Joyce's legacy is to remind us of the importance of friendship, family and love." RIP.
just found out that the beautiful song is 'Undone' by Alice Temple..see link above for the director's video diary where she talks to the writer of the song...it is available on itunes...
Saw this film yesterday and it blew me away, my poor boyfriend thought I was crazy the way I was crying. Poor Joyce. Martin, her ex-boyfriend was an absolute legend, such a lovely man, she should have stayed with him. Her legacy is to remind us of the importance of friendship, family and love.
this is so so so so sad. yet i find it very hard to believe somethings in this story is not adding up someone had to smell her body. her friend family someone had to know she was missing and how was her bills being paid come on now her tv could not have been on for no 3 years if her bills were not paid.
@princessdiamond3871 The window was open which got meant the smell didn't build up, and people attributed it to the bins. If bills are set up by direct debit, it can be while before the bank balance runs out and the companies enquire about arrears.
just saw this movie.... & im left speachless... I for one, live in London and i didnt even hear about this on the news... So sad how she faded away, alone surrended in mystery....
I did love the 2 songs right at the end: anyone can identify them?
Life is what you make of it. Quite often the love you give, is the love you get. Take time to care and notice someone other than yourself. If you think just about yourself, you will end up by yourself.
I am also curious about the rent? Gee, not to make light of this...but who knew companies in London, England were so lax about paying bills. I'm living in the wrong place. Anywho, this case is odd. I feel so scared that it could happen to me. I have loads of family here and friends who I talk to every day but you really never know...how did she die? No one thought to go to her flat? Weird.
@ImNotYourFriend212 I feel EXACTLY the same way. One never knows the twists and turns your life will take. It's heartbreaking to think no one got tipped off with bills not being paid and the smell alone of her poor body. I mean for crying out loud the TV was still on! 3 years is just ungodly.
I don't know if anybody has told you this or if you have read anything about her but she lived in a bedsit and all her bills were payed for by the government after she spent some time in a refuge for victims of domestic violence in Haringey.
That would be very similar to my situation (the lack of "close" relationships). She obviously did not have any "close" relationships in her life. They were all kept at arms length (or they all kept her at arms length). She probably was either fearful, intimidating, or just did not give a fuck. If eventually stopped giving a fuck, then she became contented in her situation and I don't see that in and of its self a tragic. However, anyone's early death is almost always tragic.
I'm 18, had a very fair amount of friends, and was even one of the most recognized kids at my high school because I showed up multiple times a day on our announcements due to my involvement with tv productions. I deleted my Facebook when I started online school and this is after I slowly stopped texting anyone I did. Over 9 months until someone asked what had happened to me; they quit replying when I explain I'm doing virtual school. It's very much possible to be and die alone.
my skin curled when I heard the story on BBC Radio 4 this afternoon. With today's fake socialising,no matter how many Facebook fans or Twitter followers, who would come knocking on one's door if one goes missing?!! I'm dying to watch it on Saturday.
@wadaFgoingon If someone who was renowned for appearing on Facebook or Twitter frequently suddenly stopped using it, this may lead to concern and a search for that person. Think before you denounce modern society.
What is curious to me is wouldn't she have had bills coming and then eventually electricity cut? In the trailer it says her tv was still on. Amazing, regarless. I'm just curious about rent, landlords, bills, etc.
@nameless12345 Its by Alice Temple and called "Undone" - head over to the films facebook page at facebook/dreamsofalife where we will feature an exclusive video diary soon..
A tv on for 3 years eh. How comes the Bedsit didn't go up in smoke before they found her
