I just got back from Toronto, Canada and this past Saturday there was a huge protest downtown that backed up traffic for miles. They went from the middle of downtown all the way to the UN Embassy. My fiance & I decided it was best to take another route and not go near the protestors.

BUT Israel has to understand this: As long as the Palestinians are living in poverty and have no access to better schools, they will listen to the Hamas. Most Palestinians are illiterate, less educated and poor. Under these circumstances, the Hamas would always be attractive to them. Sorry but the US didn't create Israel. The UN did. The European powers were instrumental in this, of course. Palestine was after all a British protectorate. Unfortunately, the US only became interested in Israel after it transformed itself into an aggressive war machine. That was when the Europeans started to feel a little uncomfortable. After having supported Israel in the post-war years Europe has become more and more skeptical - and for good reasons.

And if the Arabs didn't like living under Jewish rule, they could have moved to Jordan. Israel tried to give Gaza back to Egypt, but Egypt didn't want the shithole. So Israel settled it, turning it into the most productive land in the M.E., THEN ARABS WANTED IT. The Jews did a land 4 peace deal, removing all Jews from Gaza w/force-an area THEY built. Once evacuated, rockets slammed into Israel post-haste.

Sorry but the US didn't create Israel. The UN did. The European powers were instrumental in this, of course. Palestine was after all a British protectorate. Unfortunately, the US only became interested in Israel after it transformed itself into an aggressive war machine. That was when the Europeans started to feel a little uncomfortable. After having supported Israel in the post-war years Europe has become more and more skeptical - and for good reasons.

I think to truly understand the situation one needs to go back in history further than just the current century. The "holy land" has been fought over for centuries, especially Jerusalem. To defer to ancient times to lay claim to land, would certainly screw with California and Texas. In fact you might say the whole USA.
