  • When I heard it performed the first time the ?ing trumpetist was off to the right side of the hall in a room, the quartet of answering wind instruments to the left front of the audience and eternal druid strings in the back of us. This is one of the most conceptual pieces ever written. So profoundly original! I love Ives music!

  • This piece is nuts. I love it and i love Ives!!!

  • Sometimes, the trumpet player is off in the wings or backstage, dependent upon the acoustics of the hall. Grady Gammage Auditorium in Tempe is a good example of a hall with these characteristics.

  • The piece is "The Unanswered Question"

  • wow, amazing, you can read!

  • Now, now. (but appropriate)

  • my favourite piece beautifully performed.

where was the trumpet player situated in the auditorium?

  • Typically, the trumpet player is placed in a balcony.
