@caleB0123kid You don't need sound proofing unless you live near an airport. My basement is quite "dead" meaning there's a lot of rug, laundry, couch.. making the room dry. Your room should be acoustically dry as much as possible, but sound proofing is not needed unless you need to block outside noise. Egg cartons on the walls helps huge.

@unclearless This mic has great deep bottom end when you use it up close. Take out some mids and tweak the high end as per your tastes. Use a compressor set for around 30ms attack and almost as fast of release. Make sure you EQ AFTER you compress. It really is a great mic.

A interface w/phantom power or mixer board w/phantom power.. Please let me know.. The interface people seem to advise me is the Tascam US144mk2 but not to sure yet.. Great singing!

Trust me whether or not you support their cause some of their stuff rocks. Check out The Rolling Stones - Can I Get A Witness, or check out /watch?v=6aI2Miy5kH0& . Theirs also tons of old blues artists that sing about religion. I'm not in it for the lyrics though, im just fascinated by the guitar playing.

Maybe your place in this world is, like Michael W. Smith, a worship leader making a positive influence in many peoples lives. God works in mysterious ways, (ie grocery store) and He has given you the gift of an amazing singing voice! I am finally playing guitar in the band in our church after resisting the call for many years and it has been the most moving an rewarding thing I have ever done! Well done Craig!
