  • an't no better place then the eastern shore :) lived here all my life and never wanna move best place on earth

  • I understand. The rural beauty of the eastern shore hasn't changed much in the past 30 years. If they ever take the toll off, you guys are doomed.

  • omg i so agree the toll kills me but its worth it i hope this place never changes but it slowly is

  • Here's a thought. If you're going to Jersey and you don't like the way locals drive, turn, etc., feel free to TAKE ANOTHER ROUTE. We have to drive on this road--it's the only way home. You, on the other hand, can go another way. (I-95, anyone?)

  • I-95 from Virginia Beach? That means I have to drive this route. This is the main corridor between NY/NJ and the southeast coast. I have driven Rt. 13 for over 30 years and feel quailfied to claim it as my own.

  • Amazingly flat landscape. Thanks for the ride.

  • Wow, very nice smooth road. Makes Massachusetts highways look (and feel) like the surface of the moon lol. Excellent videos you've got.

  • It's good, but it isn't thát good.

And I doubt it's whisper Asphalt.

    (very open asphalt concrete surface)

    Anyway, nice driving ;-)

  • I never heard of whisper asphalt? you ay it is a combination of concerte and asphalt which seems strange. This section of road is quite smooth as it was resurfaced a couple years ago. Fresh , black asphalt is your smoothest surface. Concrete roads are only as good as the people pouring the soup plus you still have the seams that ka-thump you.

  • It's one of the greatest technological advancements in road construction.

Propably only used in the Benelux.

Very Open Asphalt (ZOA - Belgium) or Very Open Asphalt Concrete (ZOAB - Netherlands), informally known as asphalt, is a Road with a high percentage of hollow space (20%). The porosity of ZOA is achieved by the mixture of relatively large coarse granules (stone) and relatively little finer components. ZOA has not the concrete property of a continuous gradation, as opposed to asphalt.

  • The problem is, it's very climate sensitive.

We had an extraordaniry week this winter with temperatures around -20 °C (-4 F).

Those temperatures are deadly for ZOA.

Melting water fills up the hollow spaces but freezes again making the roads to burst open.

It also happens to other way around. Extremely hot days can cause damage too altough in a much lesser extent.

  • in which case it would not be practical here as we have both extremes.

  • It wouldn't have been anyway. Infrastructurally seen the US will have to go trough alot of changes to be able to apply such technology.

  • There is a lot of work which needs to be done on our infrastructure but I imagine that is the same everywhere. It seems no matter how many lanes they add, or how many bridges the build, the fill right up. Most of the other stuff like utilities and such are extremely dependable. I see things in the economy starting to improve here lately.

  • Ooh! Bonus clip! Why did you call this video "99"?

  • Johney 99

  • O I C hehe!

  • That truck turned out pretty slow in front of you, huh?

  • yeah he did, I had to check up

  • I hate when people do that.

Today, I was at a stop sign. This car was coming straight and this car was turning left. The left turning car almost got t-boned by the straight car. Of course, the lady turning left was on the phone. >:-(

  • especia;;y when nobody was behind me so they could have waited a couple seconds

  • People always do that. It amazes me as to why.
