  • Tight Pants, ankle boots, slim fit jackets, girls, and rock n roll. Please bring it back!

  • anyone around then just did what they did .The Scene ,Flamingo .The Last Chance etc this time probably cannot be analysed. Being a mod or better still a Face at the time was in retrospective a mover and shaker both in music and fashion .Nobody at the time conciously new what they were doing .

    regards

    jimmy

  • i love the mods.xx

  • The beginning of the end for Britain

  • Was that Tommy Cooper's son at 1.03? I bet those coppers in the white helmets near the end weren't to be messed with.

  • Comment removed

  • blimey the bloke at 1.03 has got some chin his dad must have been a speedboat

  • The music was real, back then! Even the buses were real, not like the greenhouses on wheels, of today : ( Not all Mods smashed things up! Those on pills, or of "Hood" element, might of done so? Most Mods did not spend weekends at Brighton, or Clacton-on-sea. I spent most of mine, either at my local Ricky-Tick (Windsor), or in the West End, at places like the Last Chance Saloon, Pink Flamingo, Scene, La Discotheque, and Putney Pontiac. Step into my "Time Machine" sir? Let me show how it was! =D

  • @noggin48 do u remember any spacific tracks that were played down the scene and la discotheque please from a revival mod in the early 80,s

  • Great song!

  • no scenes from quadrophenia ... all 60s footage

  • This is so great!

  • I think a lot of scenes in Quadrophenia were modeled on this footage.

  • I remember being about 7 and my dad driving over the flatlands near Bournemouth on a bank holiday in the 60's, in his crappy morris oxford, and the mods came up behind ,seemed like thousands overtook us..England was a special place then..........

  • GREAT I WOULD LOVE TO BE A MOD IN THE 60,S

  • Mr. Bean is a Mod! Me too.

  • very nice indeed.

  • In the 1960's as a teenager back in the USofA, the MODS were always big influence on my life. The music, clothes, the attitude along with the scoots. It still makes me want to get on me scoot and ride. Thanks for sharing this with me.

  • FUCKYEAHMODS!

  • I think I'll jump into my time machine for a while!

    whooooooaaaaahhhhhh!

  • Le rêve !!!!!

  • I've never really understood what exactly is a mod. I have the idea that they where middle class youngsters from the 60's 70's that were interested in looking good, having a good time, listening to soul and r&b music, with an interest in nihilism and existensialist literature. Am I correct? do I have it all wrong? I just want to know what exactly they were. The video is great, but its not really a clear explanation.

  • @aguadololo You got it right! That's basically what mods were. They were English middle class kids who had a certain look to them. They opted for a more softer sophisticated look. They loved scooters, soul and rnb music, well tailored outfits with clean lines, french things and shorter hair. They hated the rockers, big rivalry between the hard-edged rockers and the softer "cosmopolitan" mods.

  • @doetim They weren't middle class, the original scene in London was mostly working class, and most of the mods in northern England were working class. There were a lot of students as well but they mostly had left wing loyalties or working class roots. It was more an `aspirational` ideology in terms of fashion and a wider taste of music, they would still brawl as hard as the rockers.Nowadays It is mostly the middle class youth who have kept the mod influences in a more open minded sense.

  • @EbsNhexz You're right I actually meant to say working class, miswrote it. thanks.

  • @doetim Sorry if I seemed condescending, we are quite uptight about the whole class thing where im from (to the verge of being complete bastards about it)

  • @EbsNhexz No you didn't sound condescending at all! I think it's great to have people correct others to prevent misinformation getting spread around. I really like that you didn't just correct me but you also expanded and elaborated so that was great. I don't like when people correct others in a mean bully way using cuss words but you weren't like that at all. Thanks.

  • @aguadololo Like I said to doetim, they weren't middle class.

  • ready steady go ,,,,,,,,,,such memories
