What can I say? I like the variation on the original plot; I liked the music; I liked the special effects; I liked Doug; the female Tony worked very well; I liked this particular episode. If there are any network executives reading this--I think you made a mistake. The good news is, it's not too late to correct it.
This was actually quite good. A lot of action, which is good, and well done battle scenes. I liked the interaction between Phillips and his grandfather---done quiet well and kind of touching at that. Col. Klink and Sgt. Schultz (clever haha). Thanks for sharing this. Good cast and well acted too.
Wonder what year they made this. I can't really tell, I guess back in the 90s. Nice touch when they can't shoot the Nazi who just stabbed the second lead. I still say they should've sent the women back into WW2 wearing bikinis. The pilot might've been picked up then.
i remember hearing about this around the time stargate was in the makings.. i always wondered weather they ever made it or not... i see they did. also i see why it didnt go anywhere.. memories of the original and the success of stargate probably killed it like the tv remake of lost in space... but i did rather like it. not as thrilling as the original but it suits the atmosphere of the middle to late 90s....
Very cool. OK, I agree they need a history PHD to help out. However, great potential for a show where reality can/might constantly change. It would be also interesting to see what the alternate time was like. Maybe returning to the original world might not be worth it. Thanks for posting this.
swede85 Thank you for posting this. I was born in 1955, a fan of the original, and thrilled that I could view the older episodes and this remake with my sons. And, it means quite a bit to me that I can view this courtesy of you. Thank you.
i wonder if this would have aired anyway. in 2002 it was a year or so after the end of 7Days, another "time travel to set what went wrong show"... and after 9/11 who really wanted to watch a show were something could have been prevented....
Otherwise its not a bad show, needed better fx tho. and no angry black lesbos.
Thanks for putting this one up, swede85. I painted up a halftrack and a Kubelwagen for this show (the halftrack is mentioned in the dialogue) but things became a bit of a gong show when they started filming, and the snow forced a few changes. They originally had two halftracks for shooting - one was the one I painted up U.S. markings - the other was from a local collector. When it became apparent that halftracks don't like mud (cont'd...)
@InternationalMovie (cont...) they built a plywood road of sorts out into the mud, which one of the halftracks promptly fell off of and wound up lying sideways in the deep muck. They turned the Kubelwagen rental off at the last second because we wouldn't allow it to be flipped upside down and set on fire (!!!)
Been a few years now but I remember the sudden snow forced a rewrite of the battle location as mentioned in the original script. This was shot in Vancouver, B.C.
@InternationalMovie Well, thanks for your work anyway. I would have liked to have seen your transformation of each vehicle. I am such a WWII history nut! I live near the National Air Museum, and just soak up as much history as I can!
Pretty good, most pilots just remind me why I don't watch much tv.
One continuity questions, if their trip fixed a big change why was his family still there? Wouldn't he be thinking, "the next fix we do will eliminate my 240 family. heck no, I'm not going to help."?
good product ... improved in same things ...no woman soldier was in 1944 army..too fast the end...but the right spirit was there...i dont like firefly...this is a good sf tf!
First of all, I'd like to thank you for posting this. It was interesting to see what it would have been like to update what was a series that has a lot of fans.
Unfortunately, the PC stuff, mentioned by others, seems to ruin it all by it's sheer historic inaccuracy. Here again, in the first 15 seconds, you see German soldiers giving the wrong salute. The presence of the women also causes a problem, and the Toni character would have been much better as a village resident.
I really liked the show. I used to watch the old one as a kid. I wish they would have gone forward. Its a great plot that many shows could be written around.
Had promise at the beginning, but as in so many tv series, political correctness spoils what would have been a good episode. Sending 2 women back to World War 2 dressed as American combat soldiers. It is as stupid as sending 2 men back in time to enter a politically incorrect beauty contest.
I think my only problem with this is the ending. The conceit here is more like "Sliders" than "Stargate SG-1" as others have been saying. We didn't see the results of their trip into the past. The writers went through great pains to show us that there were 49 states instead of 50 and it's red means go and green means stop, etc. A setup without a payoff is not a setup.
All in all, a good effort. A little more attention to detail and it would have been an interesting take on "Time Tunnel."
My goodness! This ?series? got me on my toes--- and I've never heard of it, until now! (where have I been?) --- is there more of this series? It just goes to show US that commercially inclined people who makes decisions, what's in ? what's out? don't know jackshit when they see one! I say this would have made it! Thanks for sharing and the upload--- bless you.
disappointing and lame ending. He should have come back to more different (somewhat shocking)but interesting home. that would emphasize the consequences of messing with time.
Potential. That being said women in WWII trenches was cheesy and the cia woman did not add anything other than being mean, they were being PC by making the character a women when a man would have made more sense. Toni was not bad though, they would have been better to make her a village girl from the beginning rather than a soldier, more believable cover for the time period
I got it. By killing the mission leader, they killed the show. The guy with the family had only one specialty, his knowledge of the battle. No chance for a second mission, he does not follow orders.
This was very good. It had a couple of moments in it, first with the grandfather and then with the poor woman who'd lost everything, that were extremely moving.
but as some pointed it why did they put a black woman in charge? she wasn't any precious scientific..just a big leader..why compromising their mission with that? it is much unrealistic that those scientific for a purpose of being politicaly correct would have send a woman and black one....anyway with the craps we see on tv it is strange they dismissed on putting forward that "new" serie
i am so glad..and so disapointed at the same...so glad that i just watch that show....and sad in reading the comments that it seems they didn't continue the serie...i was a real maniac of that show when i was a kid and was looking on youtube for the old series and i was really well surprise to find that remake...as a pilot i think it was a good one..everything was adapted to 21st cent...good concept of the 60 with a good touch of today with the music and the characters, etc

@swede85 firefly turned out pretty amazingly, I loved that show. I was disappointed they cancelled it. This show could have been good, I would compare it more to Sliders than Stargate tho. I mean come on the upside down traffic light was a complete rip off the pilot episode of Sliders.
@greenpenguino I'm not slagging on anything, I loved Firefly, but it didn't help that it had a lot of meddling from TPTB. FireFly could have a lot of potential
@swede85 Hey mate, don't bagged firefly, because it was awesome. That said I can't believe some the crap that was on that year (I just looked up the schedule for that year) that got picked up before this. I would have watched it.

I remember somebody telling me that Time Tunnel was coming to the Fox Network . Do you think that Land Of The Giants could be made into a present day movie ???
Heard about this pilot a few years back. Thanks for showing it! Could have been a good series however, I would have switched the characters of Doug and Tony to conform more with the original.
This pilot was rejected because it looked too much like Stargate. Ironic considering the fact the Stargates are actual rip offs of the original Chronogyro...and don't make me start about the secret gov'ment base.
I remember Firefly , and never saw one episode . Don't you think the Scifi films on the Scifi channel suck ??? Why don't they show the old classic films from the 60's like Fantastic Voyage , The Time Machine etc?
THey used to show those films on SciFI. THen they realized they could show those crummy b-grade flix from studios like The Asylum and U.F.O. for cheap. They used to show Firefly too.
Despite what attitudes and policies are now in the army, in 1944 there is no way a black woman would be a Sergeant in a front line combat unit. This would've attracted far more attention to themselves than Philips talking to his Grandfather and would've ruined the whole mission. The scientists would've known this. Politically correct film-makers wouldn't. Any chance this was made in Canada?
Yes, it does seem to be a case of that affliction known as "terminal PC." In World War II, there were NO women in combat units, and even a black MAN would have been a sergeant only in a segregated "Negro" unit. It would have attracted far less attention to have a black guy join Robin Hood's Merry Men!
The Negros did end up fighting in the Hurgen Forest towards the end of the battle becasue, believe this or not because all the white fellas were being wiped out and the Black fella actually performed quite well.
Thank you for pointing that out . I'm not sure if you pointed this out positively or negatively . In some missions , there would be a problem going back in time with a multi racial team .
Didn't they say the tunnel can translate the german language into english and visa versa for them, and maybe they intervened with their appearance too?
I agree just like I never believed in Will Smiths character in the 1880's in the Wild Wild West . It's pretty interesting attempt to bring unity , but in time travel every little thing is something .
@Kauwhaka of course this was made in Canada. The guy who played the Captain has also been in Eureka, SG: Atlantis, SG1 and a bunch of other Canadia shows
@bigleroygym No chance at all. But that will never change what things were like in the American Army 70 years ago. Canadian film companies have a reputation for trying to rewrite history to what they would "like" it to be rather than what it really was. Do a story like this based in Afghanistan or Iraq and it would be perfectly normal and unnoticed. But not in WW2.
blah blah blah...i saw that your anti-political correctness comment and made the correct assumption that u are a racist, since 99.9% of the time they are the ones that use the term "politically correct" as a negative thing. Just to be sure that u are evil, i checked your channel page and saw your anti-global warming favorite videos. What a loser u are. And of course i already know it's ridiculous to have a black woman in a combat position in WW2, but the point is, u are evil.
So what, i don't watch TV series to learn history, i watch them for fun, good stories and entertainment. Why are people so obsessed with historical correcntess even in the details of a Fantasy/Sci-Fi series?
@Kauwhaka Or a white woman, for that matter. Reminds me of the crappy sequel to "The Dirty Dozen," when the unit is trapped behind enemy lines and decide to try and sneak out disguised as Germans (or civilians, I can't remember which). The token Negro asks "What about me?" and you can see Lee Marvin is supposed to be thinking "Oh, crap, why didn't anyone consider that BEFORE they sent us on this lousy mission?!?"
Good concept for a series, just lose the PC-BS and rename "Doug" and "Toni."
Bravo! Bravo! THANK YOU for posting this .. I am very grateful! Just finish watching the whole thing .. again ... thanks! This series COULD have introduced the concept of time travel with the "butterfly effect" superbly! Too bad it wasn't picked up .. BUT .. i think we have NOT heard the last of this .. ;)
I wish this pilot had spawned a series. Maybe there was politics involved like what killed off Serenity and the fictional Show within a Show on Seinfeld as well as the orignal Time Tunnel. They dealt with the Temporal Paradox issue reasonably well.
Mavericstud9, can you please shut the hell up and let anyone else enjoy this? This was a request from someone who couldn't get their hands on copy of this. And because said person is fan of Kavan Smith.
Excuse me if I don't listen to the guy who called the woman in this a cunt. I never said everything older than what I've seen is crap, I said I wasn't alive when it was on, so I haven't seen it.
Wow I have to say I am impressed. I loved the original but this version is great! Just like Battlestar Galactica was revamped for the 21st century so this version does the same. I hope they do run with this version sometime.
I grew up in the 80's so I saw a few reruns of the origanl Time Tunnel. But I have to say I actually liked this remake.I like all the twisted 'new' facts...Boston Yankees,no New Jersey as a state..it was cool.
not that bad for a re-make, nice if they stuck to the original plot though, never got made - shame would have liked that.. Remember the original when i was a kid....
What can I say? I like the variation on the original plot; I liked the music; I liked the special effects; I liked Doug; the female Tony worked very well; I liked this particular episode. @Kauwhaka

BUT .. i think we have NOT heard the last of this .. ;)

reminds me of the 'Dark Shadow' series about 5 years ago which never got off the ground.

I wish this pilot had spawned a series. Maybe there was politics involved like what killed off Serenity and the fictional Show within a Show on Seinfeld as well as the orignal Time Tunnel. They dealt with the Temporal Paradox issue reasonably well.

Thanks Swede.. I thought it was Great !
I cannot understand why this didn't get picked up, yet they brought out Journeyman years later ?
This wasn't made for the fans of the original, it was made for todays people with some hints of the original mixed in for nostalgia.
I don't quite get why the networks don't bundle some of these great un-aired pilots to some cheap DVD's for us all to see ?
Other then showing us what some dumba**es fired long ago thought was crap, they could at least recoup $

IMO we oughta start a small letter writing campagn to ABC Family. This would be a good action adventure for 10-14 yr olds.

I grew up in the 80's so I saw a few reruns of the origanl Time Tunnel. But I have to say I actually liked this remake.I like all the twisted 'new' facts...Boston Yankees,no New Jersey as a state..it was cool.

The original is twice as old as I am, so I like this one, I never saw the other. I'd probably still like this one even if I had.

not that bad for a re-make, nice if they stuck to the original plot though, never got made - shame would have liked that.. Remember the original when i was a kid....
