I believe that's a dermal punch...not dermal anchor...i have 2 dermal anchor's and that's not how it's done.

@prtgesegerl a dermal punch is the tool he used to make the hole, some artists use needles and others the dermal punch. I also use the dermal punch because its faster working.

it bleeds that way because it is in her temple. There are a lot of blood vessels in the temple. it is super easy to hit one when doing this piercing. it doesn't bleed that much on your arm or sternum.

actually, it bleeds like that everywhere. as long as the piercer pinches the skin during the whole process, no blood will be drawn. it only bled heaps because the skin was let go.

the "punch" is much like a small pen tube with razor sharp edges. it takes a small plug of skin out allowing a Anchor to be inserted

the anchor has a foot at the bottom of the stem that sits under the skin keeping it from being plucked out easy.

one end of the foot is long and one is short. this allows you to fit it in the hole without too much damage. none if you're good.

there is another way to do this called "skindivers" check those out too

It's a hollow needle that gets pushed into the top layer of the skin. When the needle is removed it takes the skin with it and if the skin does not come out with the needle it can be lifted out using tweezers or hemostats.

the acnhor its self is really small. they insert it at an angle and get part of it under the skin and pull back on it to stretch it a lil bit to get the rest of it in

its just a hollow circle, but the edge of the cirlce is actually a blade, so they are applying pressure as well as turning it to cut the skin out...kind of like a cookie cutter

oh my god that bled WAY too much! i got mine in an abnormal place that wasn't recommended but I insisted (a little under the corners of my eyes) and as someone with EXTREMELY sensitive skin -- like, flick me and I bruise sensitive -- I didn't bleed much at all besides a trickle!

My mate got hers done in the same place and he cut the bar and then screwed the cap onto it.

i do these with a 12 gauge needle rather than dermal punch, i find it less messy, what would be the pros of using a dermal punch? having never used one im just curious

Pros; a nice round incision that heals very quickly.

Cons; You can't do them on very thin skin i.e. very close to the eye, forehead etc.

The dermal punches are expensive compared to 12g needles.
