Take Tekken for an example, Tekken one, two and three were great. T3 is one of my ultimate favourite games. Sadly they've gone way too far and it's just crap. drawing out these long storylines and making stupid characters, it's just insane.
I choose to remain stubbornly optimistic that this could be a good thing. It would be really awesome if they would create some other philosophical/moral point out of each of the character's backstories that really fleshed out who they are. Like they did within the comic for Rorschach.

While I would love to see the story continued, they do need to have more original ideas. The comic and movie industry (especially the latter) have become lacking in the past few years. Granted I stopped going and obsessing over a lot of the comics but I also haven't heard anything like I used to about them.
Just like the when they scarred Douglas Adams Hitchhikers books by adding another one after Douglas had died... this will be an abomination.
Pre/post creations without the original artist's involvement (and in the case of Lucas, even sometimes with it) are always a bare shadow of the greatness of the original work.
It looks like comic books are getting as uncreative as movies...plumbing great stories from the past cause they can't think of anything great now to make money. When are we going to see the next "Death of..."? (Fill in the blank with any character who's popular...then they can be resurrected to make MORE money!)
He sold off the story and characters to DC long ago, their a company that's out to make a buck through telling stories n that story is widely recognized. The characters aren't even originally Alan Moore creations n he has used characters created by others to spin tales, so I see his point, but don't care. They got some great writers n artist for the prequels n I know I'll check em' up when collected.
I love when things come to an end when their time has come and they're remembered as timeless classics. You know, like Harry Potter, David Tennant's role as the Doctor, and hopefully, Watchmen. I'm not going to lie, I want to see the the stories and will read the comics but I still think they should have just left the series alone. At least they're being smart by releasing prequels and not crappy sequels
Hmmm. I like the ideas of prequels etc. There are some stories that are just SO GOOD that you want to know more, even though you know it's made up. So I'm okay with DC doing this. I just hope they're go for solid story line over generic story line that appeals to the most people to make the most money & in doing so makes it crappy.

He was referring to the book. And given the context it makes perfect sense: Alan Moore was basically asking why would DC make a prequel comic book series when another classic novel, Moby Dick, didn't have one.

I don't think this was needed and it is a little wrong that they are doing it despite the creators not wanting it to happen BUT I am interested and the writers doing the prequel are good. i loved watchmen, saw it at a friend's place and instantly went and bought it on dvd. rourshachkhkkkhkhhkhk - favourite character from anything. ever.
but i think they're in danger of ruining it.
Take Tekken for an example, Tekken one, two and three were great. T3 is one of my ultimate favourite games. Sadly they've gone way too far and it's just crap. drawing out these long storylines and making stupid characters, it's just insane.

While I would love to see the story continued, they do need to have more original ideas. The comic and movie industry (especially the latter) have become lacking in the past few years. He sold off the story and characters to DC long ago, their a company that's out to make a buck through telling stories n that story is widely recognized. The characters aren't even originally Alan Moore creations n he has used characters created by others to spin tales, so I see his point, but don't care. They got some great writers n artist for the prequels n I know I'll check em' up when collected.

Hmmm. I like the ideas of prequels etc. There are some stories that are just SO GOOD that you want to know more, even though you know it's made up. So I'm okay with DC doing this.
