The georgian minority was exiled from Ossetia and Russia pushed it´s military to the separatist areas of Georgia. One thing was that they started to distribute Russian passports to local people. That was clearly against international law. Also the russian airforce did provocative overflights in georgia. It´s still true that the georgians shot the first bullets in this war.

The problem is quantity of native Ingrians who speak FU languages here is about 300 or 500 persons. Obviously not enough to decide the fate of the land. I live here for all of my life and my native language is Russian, as same as 99.8% people around. In spite of it most people here hate the orders Moscow bloody crimes dictate us. But we don't want to become Finns at the same time. So we need our own republic and I hope one day it happened!
Some 40-60000 Ingrians were granted entrance to Finland on the 80's. There are still appx 2 million FU language speakers in Russia. Some languages and tribes naturally have become distinct due to assimilation, purges and opression of the native people.
Those 2 millions include Mordovians, Maris and other FU people who have their national autonomies included into Russian Federation. I meant only historical land of Ingria (nowdays territory of Saint Petersburg city and the region around)

Karelian is FU language. Karjala is Finnish. Ingrians are Finno-Ugric people. Any other questions.
