i am now 24 years old i grew up watching the andy griffith show with my dad he passed on a show that i will never stop watching thank god my dad had good taste when it came to tv shows i love this show sooo much !! i agree it is so much more meaningful than a lot of the shows that are on nowadays
Andy Griffth show was the best ever how I miss those day's.. I am 62 now and recall all his shows.. I all so like to add all the other sit coms like Father Knows Best, Dona Reed Show, Leave it to Beaver, Ozy and Herrit show miss spelled ir for give me and the rest of the great ones I have not mention..Larry
My Dad, Clarke Lathrop, ran Bel Air Realty in Los Angeles in the 1970s. Later, Clarke Lathrop Realtors. Anyway, Betty's Mom, Elizebeth Lynn, was one of the Realtors working with him. Such a nice Lady!! I met Betty at a Motion Picture Mom's function---VERY nice as well!! Hello Betty! Clarke is still doing great!
The irony of the show is humorous. The show as all about patriotic America, family values, and love of God. But Andy Griffith is a leftist if there ever was one. The guy even did PR pieces for then candidate Obama when Obama was running for President. Ron Howard is also a leftist.
i agree with one of the commentors. barney had what was coming to him for never marrying sweet thelma lou. she came back with a husband. hooray for the thelma lous in this sad world!
I always loved her. Barney was such a putz for not marrying Thelma Lou. She's beautiful on the inside, as well as the outside. Wish I could have found a Thelma Lou! Thank you Betty. Your very special!
Been through Mt Airy a few times back in the early 70's. Nice little town. Been in Los Olivos Ca many times too. A very beautiful area. The Andy Griffith show will live on forever. Hard to believe Opie Taylor is a year older then me !
This is incredibly awesome; and what is even more awesome is the fact that long after all of the actors grow into old age, and even pass away, they will remain immortalized by the work as the eternally young and idealistic characters whom we we all came to adore. The Andy Griffith Show and all of the characters is and are a wonderful monument to humanity and future generations.
The wonderful Betty Lynn was so wonderful as "Thelma Lou". Pretty, smart & funny. Nice to see that she's still that way! Her career in the movies goes back to the 40's (including "June Bride" and "Sitting Pretty'). Betty Lynn rocks!
I went to a TAGS convention in 1995. It was big! Betty Lynn was dear and sweet and funny. (Like Frances Bavier, she moved to NC long after the show was over and now lives in Mt. Airy.) Betty made a phone call from onstage that night to Aneta Corsaut (Helen), back in CA. They seemed very close, like schoolgirls. Aneta even gave Betty a recipe over the phone! I didn't know Aneta was dying of cancer. She was gone only 2 weeks later.
yeah, she lives at :100 Ridgecrest Retirement Community,mt.ary,n.carolina,27030,my mom cooked there, the mt.airy arts council, keeps her busy.but mom said she loves getting cards from fans,(that's why i put address),may God bless you & yours,..im bout 10 mil. from Andy's old home place,it's a Bed & Breakfast now.
Thank you for posting this. I think that for me, the part where Betty Lynn talked about people's'eyes welling up with tears...not only was it because they were meeting her-- it was also the fact that the show had a moral message, and was so innocent, and clean, and people were gentle and caring back then, and I think people long for those days again. I know I do.
