@Aioner1997 Dave scrapped this project and got some buddies together who are all now working on Overgrowth, which you can preorder and use the Alphas until it is released. Cheap too. $35 for a very high quality alpha set, which will eventually a very high quality game for kickin ass.

As nice as the procedural animation is, the final game looks like crap. It advertises things like motion blur (which I haven't seen yet) and facial animation...when the lips have about 4 vertices each. Half-life 1 had better facial animation.

It's nice to focus on physics and animation but you need graphics that look decent by standards higher than those in 1999. Did this dev team not have 1-2 proper artists?

@iSOBigD Uh... what? Are you talking about lugaru or overgrowth? This is the beginnings of the sequel to Lugaru, and the precursor to overgrowth. Hence Lugaru 2. Now it's become overgrowth, and if you seriously try to tell me the graphics suck, you are on drugs.

@100Ultimate Overgrowth isn't even out as far as I can see, the game they had at the time was Lugaru or Lugaru HD which looked like crap with nice physics. Overgrowth finally has a decent engine with actual lighting and shadows, so it's looking better but this is 5 years later now.

I like the fact that it's procedural, but that run cycle looks so robotic and boring, has no art to it with out a style. Maybe it might be a good idea to have a animated character but then layered with procedural merging.

it's a rabbit, if u ask me it's running very much the way that rabbits look when they are "running" around.

It doesn't have the same locomation as a human with swinging the hips and shoulders and arms and all that.

lol, are you blind? that's exactly what's it's doing is "running like a human", rabbits use both of their back legs to hop and both of their forward arms to cushion the landing in stride, like a typical quadruped, this is more of a mix between a kangaroo and a human.

The first alpha was not even a game. It was a simple 3D terrain that you can fly around in. That's pretty much the easiest 3D thing you can program.

I don't think the demo will be mac-only. I think he's planning on releasing Lugaru 2 on the three main computer platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows), and I remember hearing somewhere that they use Windows for development.

Also, he said that he will be done with college in June, not that he will have a demo out then. What that means is he will have more time to work on Lugaru 2.

About the platforms - i talked to him about this, but he said that the windows version will be after Mac. The same happened with L1, first Mac and then Pc. Anyway, about the june thing, he will first do an L1 remake with Phoenix engine, this means that you will be able to see how the L1 would look like if it would come out at this year, and i am sure that it will come out this summer, because he still works on the engine - check out his videos! ;)
