Why are Elbow not the biggest band in the world. Listen to this then listen to Coldplay or U2 or even the Stones and tell me who are the best band out there at the moment.
I used this song for rhythm the first time I went fly fishing, it worked brilliantly. It was probably the most at peace I have ever been in my life. The sun rise.. Thigh deep in water, only with a rod and the sounds of Elbow. One day I'll do it again, one day.
The first time I heard elbow on the radio I thougt I was listening to Peter Gabriel and that he had made an awesome comeback. I'm glad he didn't for there is ELBOW now!!!!
@SebMcMeb you should check out his show on bbc6 (bbc iplayer) its just sunday wrapped into a nice warm relaxing, cold outside, cup of tea, football scores, ball!
I've discovered this song and also this group today (what's a pity and sin). I can only say: amazing! They're really good. They express so many things just with their music, without voices.
Absolutely. I wasn't certain I liked this album after listening first to Leaders and then Asleep In The Back. But I've played Cast Of Thousands all week on my long drives to work. In fact, on the way home today (Friday), I found myself playing this track over and over and discovering new levels to it. It's very special, and the mix for the Hammond organ is bloody inspired!
They are like that aren't they Elbow? In the way your always finding new levels etc to their songs, might be because of their background in dance music? I always find my favourite song always changes depending on mood, pretty much like The Smiths.
They are also one of those bands that if you give the album one listen you might only like one track, after about 10 listens you love it but it's always one you can come back to later and discover something new. Man I'm talking gash.

There are few artists that so eloquently create musical atmospheres such as Elbow.
The interwoven artistry of lyric, the instrumental sonic bed and timbre of Guy's voice near a perfection rarely achieved in modern music.
To my ear it is as perfect as much of Pink Floyd's work.
Truly impeccable.
