We don't outlaw the vehicles, but the behavior that makes those objects dangerous, like drinking alcohol and texting. Criminal activity is just that "activity", i.e. behavior, not objects. Specifically to your other point, guns are not just a part of this lifestyle. The right to self defense crosses all gender, socioeconomic and racial barriers.
