  • I dont think its the bags fault, but the peoples fault. I mean how hard is it to put the plastic bag in the recycle bin or to reuse the bag. We also have technology for biodegradable products, how about putting that tech into good use. Americans can be lazy at times, thats why they also have an obese problem too. How hard is it to hit the gym for at least 30 mins to an hour.

  • It is too much plastic - makes me so sad - please help to clean - support albatross127 - yesseaearthshepherd com

  • I think San Francisco should invest more in biodegradable plastic bags, which are broken down in nature using some sort of starchmixture. We have that in Sweden I think

  • like this if you found this video off Yvonne Strahovski's twitter

  • It's getting pretty out of hand, some people are inconsiderate with their garbage. Also, Yvonne Strahovski ftw

  • As a diver and underwater photographer it angers me seeing litter of any kind thrown away without care or thought for the consequences. It also angers me that the technology for biodegradable bags exists but is not enforced.

A point worth mentioning however is that maybe its not plastic that is the true enemy, it's what people do with the plastic.

  • @DeepAddiction47

I agree but i think this is a clever clip because that is water it will soon be like

  • I saw a reusable bag once that said "Ditch the plastic bag, unless you're a fag"

  • this has a good messege

  • im glad ab 1998 didnt pass. You greenies need to study more instead of smoking the green. Hippocrits

  • Chouette vidéo :)

Je fais passer pour les français aussi :)

  • Like I said to that guy. It doesnt matter what bag you get. You are killing something. Plastic kills sea life, paper kills nature. Personally, I choose plastic. Contrary to popular belif, they ARE recycleable. I recycle them. And as I said, they destroyed some living thing's home in deforestation to make that paper bag. Living things die either way. Stop making such a big deal out of it. I believe plastic bags are the choice. All of you who think otherwise, I dont give a shit what u think. :)

  • @BossyMCRfan you forgot to mention the best bags. The cloth bags. I have collected about 20 of them and I use them all the time. Mine are hemp

  • Environmentalists are fags. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! A PLASTIC BAG! MURDERER! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! XD everyone laughs at you. People who get paper bags at supermarkets are the people that no one likes. Take it from me. I work in a supermarket. Plastic bags are recycleable. They dont all go into the ocean. And your just as guilty when you get paper bags, because your taking a trees life that gives us oxygen. And all you are all full of yourselves because your "conservative." Lol you suck. XD

  • @iwillbeathim1day dude I know. People are so stupid. ITS A FUCK-ING BAG people. It doesnt matter what there made from. Paper and plastic bags both kill something. And cloth bags are stupid to. You know why?! It costs 1 dollar to buy one cloth bag. And if we got 10 bags of groceries in plastic bags, then that would be $10 for bags, IF they fit in them perfectly. Its ridiculous. Save money is what I say.

  • Where do All the plastic bags GO?

  • How did you get this please request me as friend and tell me how

  • Well done! Lets reduce our use of plastic bags. Bring your own reusable bag to the market. And spread the word. Soon, it will seem strange not to have your own reusable bag.

  • Great job on this. Keep up the good work!

  • A small charge on plastic bags, like 10 cents, would encourage people to change their behavior. We would all start bringing our OWN bags to the store! How about that idea President Obama??

  • paper bags paper bags

    plastic bags suck

  • @bluerazor121 dude. Paper bags are horrible to. Your not fixing anything by getting a paper bag. Im going to explain this to you. First off: IT'S A FUCKING BAG! Second off. If your concerned about plastic bags ending up somewhere and killing wildlife, then paper bags are the same. All the trees being cut down destroying animals habitats are going towards that paper bag in your hand. You supported an animal's home being destroyed and then the animal probably was killed. yeah. Walk tall man. :|

  • LOL!! HERE FACIAL EXPRESSION AT 0:54 ... thats what she had on her face too...

  • This is wonderful! Lets ban plastic bags once and for all!!!

  • Sad that plastic was sold by early environmentalist as the earth friendly option to paper. Cloth reusable bags and collapsible crates are the best!

  • nice tits.

  • I must say, this is a great video.

Qualcuno dovrà pure iniziare prima o poi no?

  • canapa ! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C A N A P A !

  • Bel video.

    Stop Pollution

  • That's good, I hope Italy will do the same soon....

  • ottimo video ,rende l'idea

  • peta do better ads

  • 'Preciatte it! Really, it must taken ages :P

  • Love the video and the actress is wonderful!

  • KILLER video!

  • Wonderfully made video.

Stay strong .. change will come.

    Claire McFee

    Organize Your Life

  • great job!!

  • thanks the effort. great message great video

  • Washing cloth bags??? Well maybe if a milk container bursts, but I've been using cloth bags for years and have never washed any of them. Washing just wears out cloth articles and uses precious resources of water and , most times, fuel to dry the cloth. So unless you have rotting remnants of food on your cloth bag, bag the washing. The US's obsession with using water and detergents on everything is a neurosis. Get over it.

  • if she was in a bag bikini I would be more interested....

  • this is on ABC News online. woah.

  • I live in the South, which unfortunately is not jumping on the "Green Wagon" as quickly as it should. However whenever I am shopping I love the comments and noticew the looks that I receive by using my own bags. I always give one away to anyone that approaches me with interest or questions. Every small change will make a difference.

  • The world should do what Ireland did. If you want a plastic bag you ghave to pay 22c for it. People in Ireland bring cloth bags for their shopping in supermarkets. American's should start a petition to do what Ireland did! ireland originated the no smoking in public areas campaign and it is now everywhere, plastic bags is also a health and safety issue. You want one? Pay for it! Now lets see the decline in these horrible bags

  • eh.. all of europe does that as far as i know..

  • Love California!

    Great vid.

  • Has the San Francisco banned plastic bags at all check out counters? How about paper bags? Westport CT has banned all plastic bags at the check out, but not paper.

Now the state of CT is considering a 5 cent tax on all paper and plastic check out bags, while prohibiting all towns from banning the bags. What do you think?

  • Excellent video!

  • Abs-so-loot-lee brilliant video... quite poignant as well, as plastic bags continue to choke our "blue planet"

  • look at that Breezy

  • NICE!

  • Great video. I wonder where they got all of those bags.

  • We are fortunate enough that many grocery stores in the SF Bay Area recycle bags. We were able to borrow them for the video....each and every one is recycled.

    Thanks!

  • wow thats pretty amazing

  • How does this relate to bag pollution?!

  • what a great way to spread the word

  • this was a great video! Don't use plastic!!!!!

  • In Ireland it cost 20 cent for a plastic bag. Nobody wants to pay it so that all use reuseable bag you get in tescos.

  • Es bien verdad que nos estamos cargando el planeta muy bueno el video

  • That commercial was soo cool!!! I also think that the plastic bags in the bay are horrible, bu I'm just saying

  • yes wehave more dangerfrom the plastics than from atomic bomb so next time you gothe bay be careful

  • I am glad SF is finally taking action against this problem. Plastic bags are so ridiculously unnecessary. In so many countries around the world people use reusable bags and get along great.

  • People get along 'great' in cuba. When you can't afford stuff to put in plastic bags you hardly notice that you don't have them.

Do people not consider that for not using plastic bags you're required to transport back and forth something that's many times more massive than the plastic bag it's there to replace, to say nothing about the costs of maintaining (as in sanitary upkeep, washing etc. and eventual replacement--they impact the environment a lot more at creation and transit 2 the consumer

  • Okay, first of all Cuba isn't the only country that doesn't use plastic bags. Why use the obscure example of Cuba to try to play on Americans' prejudices? There are countless countries that use them.

If you have ever been to Trader Joe's you know they sell extremely lightweight bags there. Such bags are springing up all over the place.

Cloth bags are also lightweight. And if it's a big hassle tossing it into the washing machine with your clothes, why, I just don't know what else to say.

  • Weight is relative to the alternative bag--the plastic bag. The difference in shipping a thousand bags of one vs the other is what should be brought to mind, not the micro application stuff. The same goes for the detergent and energy used over the life of the cloth bag, because that all counts in the end net impact on the planet. People get so many degrees of separation and they forget the hidden costs so they rarely compare apples to apples.

  • What you seem to be missing is that the bags are reusable and last for many uses. Therefore, it wouldn't be necessary to ship as many bags. And did you even read my post? Just toss the bag in with your dirty clothes. You're not going to waste any more energy than you are currently, without the reusable bags.

  • I did read your post. Whether you realize it or not tossing it in with your dirty clothes is not a process that doesn't consume resources or energy. The bags don't need to be shipped from the factory to you as much, but they do need to be transported back to the store with you. Just as the seeming insubstantialness of the plastic bag is deceptive so to is the seeming insubstantial corollaries of the cloth bag.

  • Sorry, but the logic on this argument just doesn't hold up. The bags "need to be transported back to the store with you"?? Since you're going to the store *anyway*, that's an empty argument. It's not like you're making a special trip to take your re-usable bag to the store. And laundering your bag with your clothes isn't using any *extra* energy. (And if you're really that concerned about the energy of laundering, you could go back to beating your clothes with a rock on the side of the bay...)

  • Uhhh, dude? You must be kidding about that whole traitor thing? And if not, seriously...... wow, just wow.....

  • um. are you serious? can anyone help me out here?

  • You are wrong. Name one bad thing about plastic.

I think this is a huge campaign from the paper companies.

  • No one's promoting paper! Reusables are the way to go. Bring your own bag, dude. Skip both paper and plastic. Save the Bay's not supporting any kind of disposable products, as far as I know.

  • damn that girl has some interesting curves..

  • i pick plastic bag up and throw them away

all the time maybe more people should

start picking after them self -___-

  • fuck you plastic bags are usefull strong and cheap, so what if it ends in the sea?

  • plastic is the lubricant of globalization and modern urban living.

thank god for trader joe's plastic protected apples!

  • paper bags cause more damage than plastic bags

  • there's an awesome How-To over on the ThreadBanger channel that shows you how to repurpose plastic bags. need a laptop case? ThreadBanger can show you how to make it--with plastic bag!

this is NOT spam! i'm real. pinch me if you don't believe...

  • Nice Work,

    Use Recycle Bags :D

  • fuck you plastic bags forever!

  • let's face it, plastic sucks

  • yeah, and we are stuck with it--for 100,000 years.

  • i know they're awesome they can last for 100,000 years!!

  • all right, i suspect you are saying what you are saying just to coax some of us 'Tubers into flaming you.

plastic is not cool. period. don't believe me? put a plastic bag over your head and breathe in real deep, repeatedly. let me know just how fun and awesome they are then.

  • actually for safety they have holes in the bottom so its quite rare that you would suffacate

  • it would appear, then, that i am correct in my assessment of your comments and person.

don't play with fire, kids, or you're liable to be burned.

  • feels like we are burnt already...now what? the new paradigm: piece by piece, one by one, choice by choice. the other day i was at hamilton pool in austin (a natural pool set into rocks) and found a piece of plastic lodged in the rocks, i got a stick and pulled it out and put it in the trash. that doesn't solve the problem of too much plastic trash, but its my new mindset. just at the market and rather than take a bag out of laziness, ran out to my car, grabbed my bags and then checked out...

  • you are correct: we must all shift our paradigm, our shopping-consuming habits...also, supermarkets and retail outlets must make the changeover. this is NOT just a consumer responsibility. it is everyone's responsibility.

canvas bags and recycling are just the beginning. props to you for being pro-active!

  • depends what your burning, some fire doesnt even hrut if you touch it

  • the smug smile from your face. bet that makes nice kindling.

  • oo im not going down that road again, it hurts

  • as the wise old sages, spandau ballet, once said: communication let me down, and i'm left here. this plastic bag thing will one day be a huge issue, until then, we might still fear of supposed tidal-waves instead of taking action. keep opening yourselves more to face the tension and uncomfortableness of changing our habits forcefully, and walking towards serious change, as if our lives depended on it, as if there is a fire at our backs. some will not see what you see--remember to let it go.

  • Well done! Clever and gets the point across.

  • omg,i new there were lost of trash lying around, but i didnt no tat much.=O

  • awesome video!! really makes you think about our use of plastic bags

  • good video i use cloth bags iv got quite a lot of them so i can get a months shopping in them

there better and stronger than plasic ones and last longer

  • this was as scary as it was radical. Great work.

  • chick has a nice ass

  • it´s true , we have to stop the pollutin . but by the way the video is so funny. the plastic crabs are the best

  • they prolly left all those bags there

  • use a cloth bag or a backpack you moron

  • A great message and amazing stop-animation!! Just a pwn!!

    Enviroment 1

    Humans... screwed! D:

  • you know, ive been thinking about buy a whole foods bag,

    now i think i will

  • super--->5

  • All bags except canvas should be banned in grocery stores.

  • It take 10,000 years for a bar to degrade naturally

  • its already stuck in my head :)

  • I propose a catchy new anti-bag slogan: "Plastic Bags Are For ... People Who Don't Care About The Environment..."

  • Well, I hate to tell you, but it's really not that catchy.

  • Prevent littering. Police your trash!

  • are paper bags better?

  • No - because of the trees - the best solution so far is a plastic & paper bag fee -basically you got to cough up 24 cents for a bag if you don't bring your own. In 2002 Ireland created a 33 cent fee that resulted in 90% reduction of plastic bags so it seemed to work and people evolved in bringing their own bags. BYOB :)

  • trees grow back though. and are compostable

  • Yes but it takes years for them to grow back and single use paper bags are used for an average of 12 minutes before they're tossed - they're rarely recycled. Whereas a reuseable bag can be used over & over again - many times, BYOB :)

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent video! Very powerfully done wit a powerful message!

  • Amazing. Didn't really think about bags like that.

  • Great Video!! We will share it far and wide!
